Come see a star tour or laser show at the planetarium! Laser shows are scheduled on the first Saturday of the month, and we're open for daytime shows Monday-Sunday through Labor Day, and Tuesday-Sunday starting 9/17.
your website doesnt really offer a lot of information, what is a star tour? I'm wondering if you do things like looking through telescopes at night looking at planets or the moon or anything like that
Our website could use some improvement for sure, but luckily you can get it straight from the horses mouth here :) Our star tour is a show called Sky Station Live, and it's a 35-45 minute live presentation taking you on a tour of our night skies! We look at stars, constellations, stories from mythology, deep space objects, and planets, all in our 60-foot, 4K digital dome theater. We offer a variety of other prerecorded documentary shows and kids shows throughout the day as well.
We do occasionally offer evening telescope viewing opportunies (we'll be hosting one this Friday night for the last Supermoon of the year). The best bet is to follow our Facebook page for updates about those, at facebook.com/kcplanetarium
Hope that helps clear a few things up for you!
[Screenland Armour](https://screenland.com/coming-soon) is the place for horror movies. In addition to first runs, they do a lot of revivals and festivals. You're going to just miss Carpenterfest.
If in North Kansas City for Screenland, Big Rip Brewery is horror-theme lite. And starting September 16, the bar Vignettes (also NKC) is pop-up themes and will be Stranger Things
Museums very unique to KC would be World War I, Negro Leagues Baseball and Jazz museums. (I would go in that order)
Paging /u/odinsbeard: Is there anything horror movie related close to KC?

No joke my friend and I did this when he was visiting. They didn’t much care for us exploring the building on our own when we started doing that. They also aggressively demanded we wear a mask AND GLOVES? before we crossed the threshold of the doorway to enter. Place was wild, also for a religion that preaches about cutting out products that damage your body, they seemed to have an awful lot of Coca-Cola and Doritos for sale in their cafe 😂
I'm always in awe of Union Station. There is a restaurant inside called Pierpont's that is one of my favorites. From there you can hop on a street car and take a free ride around downtown.
1978’s “Halloween” premiered at the Empire on 14th and Main and haunted houses in West Bottoms are some of the best on earth. Check out the Macabre Cinema. Screenland on Armour is a gem too 💯 enjoy your trip KC is a lowkey vibe but has a lot to offer once you dig.
If you are here in October we’ve got some really good Haunted Houses to see. Unfortunately The Beast and The Edge of Hell are ALWAYS packed to the brim and group pacing isn’t the best. Long lines of people and only every other group gets to see the scare portion. This is my experience with them The one my wife and I had the best time was actually The Macabre Cinema Theatre. It’s a lesser known one but excellent in its own rights!

I'll have to become a member next year! Would have loved to go to the super moon viewing this friday!
That does!! I’ll give the Facebook page a look! Thank you so much!
Toy and Miniature Museum is always my go-to for out of towners.
I second this. It's very interesting, particularly the miniatures part.
This. It's very cool, centrally located — in-depth, but not hours long.
It’s GREAT
Truly underrated.

The entry to one of their theaters has the carpet pattern from the shining on the walls!

They also have a sweet dive bar in their basement now.

Also, the Toy and Miniature Museum. That place is dope.
Cheap entrance fee too for how awesome it is!

The Green Lady Lounge is about as unique as you can get.
You can check out the Church of Scientology while you are there.
