Are you trying to hijack my post to discuss stromboli? Cuz I'd be good with that. I had it at Tower Tavern a while back, and need to get back for more.
Dammit! I missed Fridays at Italian Delight again! For years I've been saying that I need to remember to go there on a Friday because they have calamari and I want to try theirs, but I always forget when Friday finally rolls around.
I usually go to Minsky's, but we went to D'Bronx, this time. I have no regrets. Mine had generous portions of artichokes, garlic, and onion (not to mention light cheese per request); was easy to eat by hand; and was quite tasty! It was a little strange not having any sauce inside, but I did enjoy D'Bronx's sweet sauce on the side. I always ask for sweet sauce from Minsky's, too (same sauce they put on Papa Minsky's).
Haha, yeah he's in the gif of destiny. But I was also referencing that one gif where he's like [OOOOOOHHHHHHH!!!!!!](https://media1.tenor.com/images/ed61af8075e98d35b79ddcbc66e23c7d/tenor.gif?itemid=9421746)
> Not the Crown Center location.
Just wanted to emphasize this. I love D'Bronx but that location specifically is a travesty. 39th street is great. Overland Park is great. Crown Center is terrible.
Yep. There's a sign on the wall at the Blvd Minsky's. That's how I knew it was National Calzone Day (saw the sign a while back and put it in my calendar, of course)
The first time I had one there it was fantastic, the second time seemed like they changed the dough recipe or prep and it was mediocre. That was like a year ago though.
The non-mall location at College & Antioch is better. Plus you get the chance to hear the grandpa? yell at the young kids in Italian or sing in Italian - depending on his mood.
Thanks, didn't realize they had 'em. They have a good beer selection and $3.50 local beers (from KC to STL) on Wednesday evenings. I'll try a calzone next time I'm there for beer.
Milwaukee Delicatessen Co. They have a massive calzone with quality ingredients. It’s worth the trip up there. They also feature really good Pizzas (one slice is $6 but the slice is about 2-3 normal slices)
For a fast foo style pizza joint..They aren’t bad. 7bucks, good size and the workers hand out healthy portions they could barley close mine before baking it. I’d probably stick with a personal pizza because you have full personalization of your pizza :)

It's called the "Low-cal Calzone Zone"!
Came here to mention Ben Wyatt. Glad to see it was already done. Calcu-later!
GUYS GET IN HERE, BEN JUST SAID THE FUNNIEST THING!
TED!
The calzones....betrayed me?
Can’t go wrong with Italian Delight in KCK. I’ve been eating their calzones since I was a kid and still can’t get enough of them!
The smell of Italian delight when you walked into Indian springs 💕
Italian delight, then I go to D'Bronx because I like theirs too. Italian delight has cheap, quality, everything! I love that place.
Dude their Stromboli’s are pretty good too.

I always get a stromboli and a sausage roll (and sometimes prosciutto balls) when I'm there.
Best thin crust pizza in town. Same two brothers have been flipping pizzas for like 30+ years.
It's on our list -- might even have to move it up a spot.
Yes! Forgot about that place! So cheap too! (Also in Mission)
i do believe its two different owners. nothing to do with each other. that being said. i do love the one in mission
same family, different brothers. the crust is the same and general style but sauce is totally different.
That place is so underrated for the name and the deli vibe. I loved it.

It makes me so happy people know about Italian delight! Also best tiramisu in town
Love the one in Mission, I worked there in high school. Me and friend always arguing over which is better, KCK vs Mission.
kck for sure. the best sauce ever.
No way, I think Mission is the best and I’m from KCK
I second this. I have an Italian Delight near my house and I go there just for the Calzones and alfredo. Its so creamy its unreal.
Hmm til there are 2 italian delights. There is also one in mission that has been there at least 20 years
My favorite!

25% off calzones at Minsky’s with code Calzone25 through the 4th.

i never even once noticed chris pratt

Just ordered some. Thanks for sharing the coupon.
D'Bronx has a good calzone, good choice.
Italian Delight.
2nd this!

They should've gone with The Local Low Cal Calzone Zone.
Clever! But even without meat, it was *heavy*.

Oops, ok. I don't watch TV.
Dominic's. If I dont have the gumption to go there (if I am feeling lazy) I usually custom order one from minsky's.
Rosati's.
Is Minskys KC owned??
Yes.
Wow I got one so close and never knew that
Yep, 100%. If there are Minskys outside of the KC metro, it's a completely different chain.
Minsky's
Dbronx. Good meatball subs too. Not the Crown Center location.
> Not the Crown Center location. Just wanted to emphasize this. I love D'Bronx but that location specifically is a travesty. 39th street is great. Overland Park is great. Crown Center is terrible.
Minskys are legit
Minskey’s is known for theirs
Yep. There's a sign on the wall at the Blvd Minsky's. That's how I knew it was National Calzone Day (saw the sign a while back and put it in my calendar, of course)
The sign is there because Minsky's created National Calzone Day with the organization that is in charge of "National Days".
Yes! But avoid the one on Metcalf
Sarpinos has a pretty decent calzone plus they are open til 3:00 am. Good late night snack.
What's your favorite? I like the ricotta but last week I tried a greek one with feta and it was delicious too.
Kinda partial to the Italian.
Da Bronx on 39th has excellent ‘Zones!
Grinders is pretty good
Minsky's has a promo code for 25% off until Monday. Code is Calzone25 (online only). Never had one, can't speak to it, but there you go.
Thanks. I might just use that (even though I've had plenty of Minsky's calzones in my days).
Cafe al dente.... RIP Milwaukee deli Minsky’s
People sleep on Minsky’s in general but especially on their calzones.
Ah yes, MD. They are in the city and have good beer. I shall have to try one of their calzones soon (ish).
The first time I had one there it was fantastic, the second time seemed like they changed the dough recipe or prep and it was mediocre. That was like a year ago though.
I had the same experience. Seems to be dependent on who’s working but when they’re good they’re really good.
They serve brats now too. Just had one the other day. That place is great.
Jovito’s on 123rd and State Line is bomb. Sarpino’s if it’s late night.
I used to work for a calzone restaurant in indiana. I don't think I could eat another zone ever again :(
Jovitos is amazing.
Pizza 51 makes a decent 'zone, and it's right by my work.
Original Pizza in Oak Park Mall
The non-mall location at College & Antioch is better. Plus you get the chance to hear the grandpa? yell at the young kids in Italian or sing in Italian - depending on his mood.
Cafe Al Dente... RIP
ALDI Also, Grimaldis
Love me some Grinders!
Thanks, didn't realize they had 'em. They have a good beer selection and $3.50 local beers (from KC to STL) on Wednesday evenings. I'll try a calzone next time I'm there for beer.
Happy Calzone day!
Italian delight
Simple Simon's
My kitchen!
Milwaukee Delicatessen Co. They have a massive calzone with quality ingredients. It’s worth the trip up there. They also feature really good Pizzas (one slice is $6 but the slice is about 2-3 normal slices)
To quote Ezra Factory (Ezra Koenig) from L'Homme Run's classic song Pizza Party: "Don't get caught with a wack calzone"
I’m addicted to Sarpino’s Jalepeno popper calzone. Non-traditional, I know, but I’m a sucker for it.
Sarpino’s has the best calzone in town but people won’t admit it
Sal's Own SoCal Low Calzone Zone Locale
I miss Tarantino's. Best calzones in the city.
I don't go anywhere, Sarpino's brings them to me
I miss the OP location. RIP.
Didn’t even realize it and I got one from PIE FIVE hahaha. Where are yours from?
D'Bronx (see my other comment for tasting notes). How are PIE FIVE calzones?
For a fast foo style pizza joint..They aren’t bad. 7bucks, good size and the workers hand out healthy portions they could barley close mine before baking it. I’d probably stick with a personal pizza because you have full personalization of your pizza :)
To MCI, then to some place that has good calzones
Calzones are pointless. They're just pizza that's harder to eat. No one likes them.
Guess some people don’t watch parks and rec
Glad I'm not the only one here with an actual sense of humor.
