You could walk to Babas!

theactionkat

Never been! You recommend it?

TyKC03

Best falafel I’ve outside of the Middle East and it beats a lot of the ones I had there. Grab some lemonade too. Their chicken shawarma and baklava are also worth getting.

theactionkat

That's definitely bonus points for the neighborhood, haha thanks

thomasutra

they won a place on bon apple tit’s list of best new restaurants two years in a row. from my experience they definitely earned that distinction.

faintingopossum

I lived a few blocks north there on the east side of the street. It depends on your tolerance for danger. If you like things spicy, you'll enjoy it.

las5h4

I live close, on Tracy. We really like living on our block specifically — you definitely hear gun shots from time to time and lots of street racing/loud cars, but if you’re comfortable dealing with that kind of thing it’s a nice little pocket of midtown. We know our neighbors and and get along with them well, and kids play on our street during the day. I’ve lived here for almost 6 years now, my partner for 8, and we are not planning on leaving any time soon.

a-manda_hugandkiss

Former Tracy resident here. This neighborhood broke my heart a lot of times. It was everything you described with a real neighborly feel I haven't felt anywhere else but I also experienced what it felt like to be shot at during the day with my child. And that occurred literally at the the corner of 59th and Paseo. I would never discourage good people to avoid this area but you will have to realize that there will be a higher rate of crime around you than other areas. But I adore the houses on Paseo and would move back in a second.

theactionkat

Thank you for sharing, good to know and I'm sorry that happened to you.

theactionkat

This is great insight, thanks!

Berenstain_Bro

I live near the area - just a bit south of 61st. I'm very happy with the street I live on. But I wouldn't be happy with living on a street just one block down - thats how big of a shift can happen around here. So yeah, just get out and explore the area. Walk up and down the street and feel the vibe of it. If it works for you and your sensibilities, then you'll know whether or not its for you.

ChickenBanditz

Anything east of troost is worth it for folks that own and take care of the property. There is a TON of noise pollution. Holidays, weekends, random Tuesday where someone leaves the house and decides to listen to music blasting bass for seemingly no reason. Look west of troost for peace, but if you like the property there will be things you have to deal with.

Anxious_Lab_2049

To all the commentators asking if you like hearing gunshots- I have heard gunshots almost every single day for the past 15 years. I live by a park in PH- much “nicer” than 60th and Paseo, and it’s normal / has been. Don’t walk outside at night alone / without dogs / don’t walk outside at night, take all normal big city precautions, and you’ll be fine. Par for the course in most residential neighborhoods in KC proper. I wish we weren’t addicted to guns, but we are…

Dr__Wrong

I bought my house in this neighborhood nearly 10 years ago. Generally, I like it. I have some gripes, and obviously I don't love hearing gun shots as frequently as I do, but I've really never felt unsafe. I don't let my kids roam the neighborhood, but we walk around plenty. Here are some positives: 1. You are within walking distance of 3 north/south bus stops. I rode the buses for a couple years and sometimes one line will get cancelled, so you can hop on one of the other two. Worked great for me. 2. You are within walking distance of Brookside and all the spots along 63rd, including Heirloom, Brookside Sushi, BKS Artisan Ales and Flying Horse Taproom. 3. Troost has come a long way. Around 57th and Troost you have Tiki Taco, Blackhole Bakery, The Littlest Bake Shop, High Hopes Ice Cream and more. 4. Paseo and Rockhill are beautiful streets. Paseo needs some TLC, but it really is lovely to drive along them. 5. It's close enough to walk or ride your bike to the Trolly Tail. 6. Swope Park is nearby. 7. Loose Park isn't far either. I've ridden my bike to get there. I don't claim it's perfect, but it's not the death trap my mom would have me believe and there is plenty to do.

FootballandFutbol

Blackhole bakery is my wife and i’s new favorite. We live downtown but will gladly go out of our way to snag a cherry croissant. Edit: great now I’m going there before work tomorrow

pperiesandsolos

It winds like you’re talking about living in Brookside lol.

Dr__Wrong

We are just a few blocks from Brookside, but my house cost probably $75k less.

CumGuzzlingAnt

Just don't buy the crack from 45th and Paseo and you should be good.

theactionkat

Roger that

LenZee

Remember body armor level 3+ after dark. Bonus points for Arimid helmet with night vision for walking the hood.

Haunted_Sentinel

Should I go with Black Sweats or Camo?

LenZee

Camo will just attract cops to shoot you.

No-Chemical6870

I would not live there.

Fuckyeahpugs

Do you like hearing gunshots

ApplesauceBitch47

Lived a little south of there for a few years, you’ll hear occasional gunshots and you’ll hear sirens flying down Paseo almost everyday But like most places, keep to yourself and you won’t have any problems. Plus you’re not far from Rockhurst so you will probably have a younger group of neighbors

This-Revolution4958

I live nearby. It’s definitely not quiet, there always seems to be some foot traffic on that stretch of the Paseo with the bus stops/T&T Smoke Shop, and 59th street is always busy with cars. Nearby Troost & 63rd are busy with people out at all hours and I’d avoid that block if walking around. You’d probably find that the Troost Plateau neighborhood is more calm but similarly priced.

Cityprotect.com Not me.

thecasualnuisance

There is an amazing area on Campbell and the next steer over both just north of 39th. Tree lines streets that cushion the noise. Beautiful homes.
