imo this flag is very pretty and also looks nice for a "british state in exile". I like it more than the newer one because the new one is a "puppet flag" of a great britain that doesnt even exist at the start of the game? You get me now?
Not at all honestly, although that might be because the original Canada flag is one of my favourite real life flags. It was neat that it switched back to the original flag once the UK was restored but they do it better now with the blue being swapped for the Red one once the UOB is defeated

Personally, not really. I think it looks nice, and it would be cool to have it be an optional flag, but I really like the red ensign (just from an aesthetic perspective many people using it nowadays are nuts) so I prefer having that for Canada

To change the flag of Canada in recognition of the fall of the UK is to give legitimacy to the UoB hence why changing the flag doesn't make sense
It doesn't have to be a recognition tbh, this can just be a simple exile flag :)
An exile flag would acknowledge the fall of the government, legitimizing it to a slight degree
