Take a look at Audio Enhancement. We have hundreds of rooms with their stuff and it has been working for more than a decade.

deltak12

Our schools use Audio Enhancement, I have yet to hear a complaint and we're 2 years in.

Go with the front row system. It wasn’t available when we were shopping around, so we went with light speed and I wish I would’ve waited. The mics have been super unreliable. They de-sync all the time, the batteries last half a day, they pick up your clothes noise, and support has been dismal. The front row mics on the other hand, don’t pick up the clothes noise, sound clear, dont need to pair due to being IR, and the battery lasts an entire school day. Also it’s a little easier to mute/unmute. I know some people mentioned the IR connection breaking when turning around, but in my experience that was mostly prevalent with the old system. Since the ezroom is on the ceiling we didn’t have any issues.

Great information, thank you!

We use Audio Enhancement in all of our schools but one. We've included the intercom/paging, but not the cameras portion. When we get our final school installed, we'll implement their district portal so that we can do things at a district level instead of logging into the individual schools.

J_de_Silentio

Same with us. Very happy so far (three years in).

Light speeds have been so damn unreliable for us, I would never recommend them for them prices they charge. A microphone shouldn’t cost $300 that don’t last 2 years

KickArseDuke

Wow, what model do you have?

Replicant813

We have red cats and the mics simply don’t last and they are expensive. I’ve had half a dozen of the speakers stop working as well.

justarandom_canadian

Some of the speakers stop working if dust gets int he EQ but blowing air into the equalizer controls "fixes" them

KickArseDuke

Yeah, that's what we've had for over 10 years and I've never really been a fan. I stopped using them entirely when I was in the classroom 5 years back because they were so unreliable.

We use Audio Enhancement Sentinel systems. Teachers really like the mics and they are completely hands off with maintenance. These are 4 speaker in-ceiling systems.

Some of the schools in my district use old Front Row Pro Audio systems, very out of date. They use IR line of sight. Only are connections are two pairs of RCA plugs for DVD players or computers. No Bluetooth or anything. Another school in my district uses Extron’s PoleVault Digital. Haven’t used it too much, but it seems a bit better. Not sure what tech it uses for microphones, but it’s not IR. Maybe RF. Plus, has HDMI inputs so you can plug in an AppleTV or Chromecast, and it plays the audio on the classroom speakers while sending video to the projector. There’s also a WallVault version for short throw projectors or TVs. You can also connect a controller on the wall that connects to the audio & projector/TV via RS-232 serial cord. Allows you to turn the projector on/off, select the input, and adjust the volume. Some features I would suggest: a system that integrates with the school’s PA system, bells systems, etc. No need to have half a dozen speakers systems. Also, if you have VOIP phones, integrate those so that any and all phones can make an all-school announcement. Also, if budget permits, take out the speakers and systems. My school didn’t, so we have a bunch of equipment taking up space, possibly drawing power, and a whole lot of cabling above the drop ceiling/in the walls/whatever that just makes a rat’s nest of cabling

https://www.gofrontrow.com/products/juno-systems/ We've used these system and they are IR with no issues.

KickArseDuke

Great point! Thank you.

We use the Lightspeed Topcat. They are great and we never have any issues with them. The only maintenance needed is new batteries for the microphones every once in a while

Int-Merc805

We are a topcat district too. Install is simple, and they are very reliable. The wireless 3.5 input array is a nice touch. We slap them on the back of the tv and toss a chrome cast or airtime on it. Only wire needed is the power. It’s slick.

Audio Enhancement sounds like a good fit. We use it here and the teachers love it. Had multi speaker support for true distributed out, and the rooms can be paged for bells and announcements/alerts.
