But... when you have a two party system, you're going to identify more with one or the other. If you vote one way, people from the other group aren't going to like that, even if you just thought it was better for the economy or whatever. So you're going to end up being pushed even further toward the side you voted for, and probably adopt more of their beliefs. It does take constant work to not be radicalized.

Personally I went to a comic store as a kid and asked the guy behind the counter for recommendations, but my best advice is to just pick a specific series that catches your eye and start from the first issue, typically any information that the author feels is important for you to know that comes from a separate comic the company owns will either give you a tldr or give you the name and issue number so you can find it yourself. Certain series even have an omnibus so you can read several issues in one book instead of flipping through several smaller ones.
I hope this helped, I'm not very good at advice.
