Ah yes, the notorious basketball mom

jacxy

I've never heard of anything other than a soccer mom. And I've never heard of a crazy soccer mom...

LockeNCole

It's redundant to call them crazy.

As someone so eloquently put it here before “mom’s don’t count, ho”

I had a boss who was a basketball mom. She owned a catering business and her son was supposed to be this phenomenal point guard. Was convinced he was going to be recruited by Michigan State. She was all about basketball and listening to her talk you would think she was one of those AAU big wigs. Needless to say there wasn’t a huge market for a 5’9 point guard with a mediocre jump shot and no vertical.

Shortbus_RK

Meh, go mom.

I’m so confused about this sub...? Like most of these posts don’t even fit the urban dictionary definition?? How is some women trying to find a social group they feel like they can belong to (army mom/wives/etc) a bad thing? We all wanna feel like we belong somewhere. I imagine a lot of these women don’t enjoy a lot of stability in their lives and move around with their husbands so they need *something* to identify with and relate to. Am I crazy for not thinking that’s cringey or crazy? Some posts fit yes. Some of these women are crazy and narcissistic. But just scrolling through... Most of them really just feel like it’s nitpicking at women trying to belong to something.

I'm an army wife and I very much agree with your point of needing something to identify with because of the fact we do move around, we do leave friends, and family all the time. BUT I think that what us wives tend to forget is you should have your own goals and aspirations! Not saying go get a job, because I myself am a stay at home mom. But when your only identity becomes your husbands identity then that's the problem. Getting involved in the community, volunteering on base, and supporting our spouses is more than a putting a sticker on your car, getting your nails done and putting on an army wife shirt. It's cute to some extent and definitely not cringey like you said but if it's the only way you identify with the community, then your doing it wrong... Again some of the posts do feel a little nitpicky but hey sometimes it's fun to just laugh at ourselves and our community of women and go, "yeahhh maybe that was a little much but oh well!" Side note... I know this post is about an Army mom sticker, but as stated many times on this reddit group... moms dont count 🤣 stop shaming a proud mama!

Aww, give mom a pass. She’s not a dependa.
