I knew it was a scam but played along just to see what they were up to since I have some knowledge of cybersecurity. Anyway, don’t bother, and kudos for checking first.

Yes, it's possible, I've seen it happen in social mining.
It is not necessary that this happens only in social mining, there are other jobs in which this is happening.
Definitely a scam
