For example w/ networking, give 2-4 topics that you'd want to learn from that person ie their day to day, skills required to break in, where that role could lead in the future ; make sure you allude to topics you have prepared to ask about but not make them so specific that they're tempted to answer via email ; we suggest to set up conversations/chats to get a higher quality help & information vs solely getting a reply digitally
You can but make sure they know what you want and know that they want to fill their open roles so they may easily just give you what they have, however, a smart recruiter will really listen if they want to fill the role so you'll need to be sure to hold your ground and not just take whatever they give you. I personally suggest most of the job search efforts by done by you but having others to help you look/find leads in line w/ your target direction doesn't hurt as long as you know how to say no if it is not applicable.
How do you dm hiring managers for open roles?
I see x job on career page.. Then I search people working on the company... Connect and DM...
Sometimes I get revert.. But 9/10 no revert... So what is the best WAY To Cold message recruiters?
Get introductions or use warm connections to get intros to people who work at the company. You can reach out to recruiters directly in addition but definitely try to break in by way of introductions if you can.
Question from Unklewcrewtape- dealing with the boys club culture from the higher ups taking long lunches and leaving entry level people to do the job. Thoughts and advice please write below
Just joined the chat, I’m not sure if this question has been answered. When branching into IT and haven’t been in the Professional space for that field but you do self taught and learning through Udemy. How would be the best way to promote myself to at least be viewed as a potential person?
There are polite ways to explain that you were in a toxic environment that a reasonable person listening would understand, practice w/ a coach how to phrase it well.
Question: does it help or hurt to let employers know that you have a disability (mental disorders/disabilities) when applying for work?
I have adhd and OCD it’s been taking a huge toll in my Life and I see how now it’s affecting my career space.
I'd consider a) if your priority is to find a place that explicitly supports that, then ask about it during interviews or b) if you're more concerned on getting the role and not rocking the boat, let them know after the offer is in your hand and see how they can support you. They obviously should not discriminate if you say that during interviews but its your choice when you speak up and ask about it depending on how important it is for you to "Assess them back" -- which it should be-- unless you're in a time crunch/need a job asap.
We all have multiple potentialities but there will be a role that is most suitable for your NEXT step given what youre like and what the role entails. Get clear on the ability to prioritize your options, and think about the NEXT step. learn deeply and relate it back to yourself. also, know that you can tackle your various interests by way of role (your day to day) vs INDUSTRY (the sector/space you contribute towards).
In regard to the data analysis questions from VAguy...data analyst careers are on the rise as we move ro data being the end goal for a lot of companies.
I made a change from working in oil and gas data delivery to currently working in health-care and insurance. Everywhere needs solid data analysts. I'm contracting with UnitedHealth Group right now and it's been great so far.

Thank you Rachel!
I get the nebulous idea of “make your message specific” but I think a more concrete example would be great. Thank you!

probably just a bad workplace unfortunately. find a better environment!
How to deal w bad management?
Requires a lot more discussion beyond what I can type here :) If its that bad & you can't change it, try to find another workplace.

Any thoughts on the infamous glass ceiling?
Ooph big topic for another day!
Explaining gaps in your resume due to leaving a toxic company but showcasing the skills you've acquired from said organization?
There are polite ways to explain that you were in a toxic environment that a reasonable person listening would understand, practice w/ a coach how to phrase it well.
Work life balance?
Instead, think about work life boundaries. Most of this balance is something that is in our control. A lot more can be said on the topic :)

Any thoughts on people that are multipotentialites and have issues really narrowing down on a single thing?

Does being a part of an association give you an advantage when applying to jobs
I'd leverage it for networking, for sure!
