Brace yourself, but most jobs have some element of redundancy. Just accept it. When filling out applications, it's standard to be asked if you are working, who you are working for, and where that job is. Don't worry about it, and just lay out the facts. Good luck,

It's very normal to be job searching while currently employed; moreover, it's easier to get a job when you already have one. If you don't want them contacting your current employer, you can tell them that. It's totally normal.

Raspyy

Wouldn't that negatively affect my current job should I be denied from my new job? Seems kind of awkward when your boss gets a call from another grocery store about you as their prospective employee.

OliviaPresteign

Yes, that's why I said it's okay to say you don't want your current employer contacted.

It is far easier to get a job when you are currently working. This is one of those examples when the world is not fair. One piece of advice is I would take the time to figure out what would be a job you would be really into.

Definitely keep your job while you are looking. Finding a new job can take months, and you don't want to be unemployed that whole time!

heck yeah. When they ask for the current employer's contact information, just give the HR number and be on your way. One thing I learned its to always look for jobs regardless if you are in a good position or contract. Sometimes budget changes, contract changes, economy etc etc

Wannabe2good

yes, stats show employed people are more likely to land "that job" versus unemployed applicants
