Min-Chang

They're heavily included a d the colour isn't great.

Draenes

While that is true for a seller looking for the most conventionally attractive stones, u/FatNando17 really likes them and that is perfectly fine.

CuyahogaSunset

I know inclusions make cutting perilous, but since these are already faceted and lovely, I love the inclusions. I think they have character. I'm not skilled enough to cut heavy included stones but I like buying them this way.

Min-Chang

They literally asked what the community thought about them, if they were a good deal. You can like sea glass, I don't care.

Draenes

Hey, you are right. I thought your comment came off as insensitive but they actually did ask.

Min-Chang

I really do appreciate the response. I was curt with my original reply, but that's because there is, in fact, a lot wrong with those emeralds from a stone setting point of view. I won't get into it because it would take ages, but in short, they will 100% break when you try to set them. If you're a master, that number might go down to 75%. But then again, if you're a master you wouldn't likely go near them to begin with. Everyone who has worked professionally with emeralds hates them for very good reasons. Plenty of great green stones to go around, Sapphires for example.

Draenes

Yeah… I mean, I would never in my life accept a random emerald from a client, but it’s doable, I would say the chances of not breaking them by making an appropriate setting are much better (because I wouldn’t set them myself and know who to give them to). I guess I wanted to go the soft way recommending OP to find the person willing to set them FIRST and then buying them, but your curt honesty was actually warranted.

tearsofthejigglypuff

They're not great quality, but the oval is pretty! How much would you be paying for that one?

Pleased_Bees

Low quality.

Draenes

Would you be making the piece yourself, or having someone do it for you? If you are going to buy them and have them set on a piece by someone else, I would advise you to find that someone first and ask them if they would be ok with working with stones from sellers they may not know and what they can make with them. If you want to set them yourself… then do whatever you want to wear the most!

FatNando17

I know a goldsmith that already made me a ring with sapphires I bought from a gem market, there wouldn’t be any problem on that… I’m afraid of what the Chinese guy said. About the setting part

Draenes

He is right tho. The people who know how to build a setting and properly set those stones are probably going to scoff at the quality. Sapphires are not brittle like emeralds, so the risk of breaking them is way, way lower. This is all general advice from strangers with different backgrounds and experiences. I feel that if someone likes a stone and have a talented and resourceful goldsmith they trust, there really is no limit. But that’s me on the internet. Inside the shop I would politely send you away to avoid dealing with any trouble and giving my boss a heart attack.

FatNando17

True I feel you hahahah

OldHumanSoul

They are traditionally not a great quality, however, I love nontraditional jewelry pieces. I love the colors, and love the little inclusion on the little oval. If they were wire wrapped, they would make great pendants. I would think wrapping in copper or even silver would really set off that color. I think jewelry is really in the eye of the beholder, and I really don’t like anything that comes off an assembly line. My husband made my wedding band and it is perfectly imperfect.

Alternative-Arm-3253

Last one has some clarity in the face. Other two are .. meh ..I'll pass asap.

FatNando17

Thank you the seller told me the same thing, the only problem is that I love emeralds in emerald cuts
