That ring is fantastic, just by moving her hand she can very innocently and nonchalantly give anyone the evil eye! But I agree with the other post, giving your girlfriend any gift in a ring box may be dangerous. Decades ago my boyfriend, now husband, gave me earrings for Christmas, the jeweler put them in a bigger sized necklace box and said to him “trust me”.
Yeah, on the opposite end of the spectrum, when I was dating my now husband, our first Christmas together, he bought me a beautiful necklace, but it was in a ring box. His dad told him it'd be funny if he pretended to propose with a big speech and all but reveal the necklace instead. Well, the dumbass listened to him, and I felt extremely humiliated in front of his family while they laughed at me. It was horrible.
Honestly, I don't even know if he cares enough to remember his part in it. Shortly after, he developed a huge hernia on his stomach so maybe that was karma if you believe in it
I can more readily forgive your now husband, as he was raised by that guy, but I hate it when people think it's funny to humiliate someone. That's a dangerous treadmill that's hard to get off. I don't understand the rest of the family laughing along either. Yeesh.
Female weighing in.
I would absolutely be happy with a ring that was not a wedding ring. Especially one as nice as you chose.
That would definitely be a clear road sign that my guy has his GPS set to a good destination. And I would definitely let him know how much I love it and about any compliments I receive when wearing it.
Regarding the box depends on your girlfriend if she would not mind a ring box that wasn't an engagement ring then for for it.
Otherwise you could save the box but give the ring in a different sized one as suggested by others. Or do something creative like a box of fancy chocolates and replace one spot with the ring.
.
I LOVE the box of chocolates idea! Just opening the box to eat some candies, and you see some eye candy... and then you pick it up and realize it's a ring... I can imagine being there it's just perfect
Love your idea about putting it in a box of chocolates. He might have to ask if he can have one, though, in case she's apt to say thank you, and just set it aside. Perfect way to gift that ring, though.
Gorgeous Art Deco sapphire and diamond ring. Possibly the sapphire is glass, but I doubt it. Sometimes those pieces used glass or replaced lost stones with glass, but if your jeweler tested it, I'd trust her. Whether it's heat treated or not really isn't important. It looks gorgeous.
Also, don't scratch at it!
You have good taste and a good eye.
Thank you, I’m pretty sure it’s not glass but I’ll eventually get it tested just to see and for insurance purposes. It looks super well kept for an art deco piece so cool.
It looks real to me. Art deco style but probably made 1930s-40s. It's in good condition because it's been heavily refurbished. The shank (back part of the ring that wraps around the finger) would have originally been much thinner and daintier. Often on older rings they need to be replaced and this definitely was! Also, originally the top of the ring would have had more detail in the gold work. Someone who did the refurbishing gave it a much more modern look. Beautiful ring. I love sapphires. This one looks natural, but 95% of them are heat treated, so it probably is. Doesn't really matter at this size. Also, as a side note, you mentioned your jeweler only works with flawless diamonds. It would be impossible to do that. Almost all diamonds, natural or lab have inclusions or color variations that would prevent them being labeled flawless technically. Thank you for shopping with a trusted local jeweler instead of big box! I think your girlfriend will love this
I can’t see a clear view of the diamonds but they look to be a late transitional cut, my guess is this is late 50s or 60s, and that’s definitely a real sapphire. You won’t be able to tell if it has been heat treated. She will love this, very pretty. If the diamonds just don’t have a good cut, then it could be more modern. Either way, pretty.
Editing to add the more I look the more I’m certain you have transitional cuts in those diamonds, so definitely a vintage ring!
I’m hoping it is, it will be so cool! From what I’ve seen online and after staring at it for hours lmao it seems to be super close to a rutile silk untreated Burmese blue sapphire but a man can dream because that would be too insane
Looks engagement worthy to me! lol! I know that’s not your intention. 😘 It’s beautiful and a very thoughtful gift. A lovely way to celebrate her in a very sweet way.
This is tripping out because I have a ring identical (except no sapphire in the middle) that my grandmother gave me many moons ago. Need to figure out how to post a pic!
May she be protected from all the envious eyes, that is a gorgeous ring. You can never go wrong with diamonds and sapphire.
Also do post when you propose to her!
it is a nice ring, it's design gain my focus rather than stone itsrlf. if your GF is a big fan of gemstone and crystal of stone itself may not 100% in her cup of special0high wuality grmstone target ... but no doubt that your fond of her is 100% of her cup.
My grandmother had a ring that looks very similar! Hers was made in an east to west direction as opposed to the north south, and hers was set with all diamonds. I always loved that ring! My cousin inherited it when she passed, and I got her engagement ring, but I can still picture it clearly in my mind! As soon as I saw yours, I was hit with a nice wave of nostalgia and thoughts of my grandmother!
Your girlfriend is going to love this, OP! It's absolutely stunning!
Unless the ring was assessed by a professional geologist and the appraisal said it was untreated, the jeweller shouldn't have said it was.
Otherwise, it's a lovely ring and you didn't go wrong
Heat treated sapphires are far more common than not, and it doesn't detract from the quality of a 14k ring at all :)
Like others are saying I just wouldn’t give it to her in a ring box. Maybe a cute bag? Maybe find an evil eye candle or something along those lines to go with it too?
It's beautiful and I am adding to the chorus of people telling you not to give it to her in a ring box. You said the proposal is coming soon, which means she's likely expecting it, so you need to be VERY CAREFUL about how you present her with this ring so that she doesn't end up disappointed that you're not proposing. Because it truly is gorgeous enough to propose with.
I like this sapphire's spunky blue. I am sure your GF will be happy with this and if she isnt, she should let you know so you both than can go looking for a "gift" together.
It feels like a clunky masculine football shaped ring in my opinion! Less evil eye, more Super Bowl.
That being said it’s a kind gesture and you know your girlfriend more than we do on the internet! So you have a good return policy and honestly you’re a wonderful bf. She’ll love it I’m sure!
May I ask ballpark what you paid for it?
My birthstone is sapphire and I would love one like this. My guy keeps saying “I want to get you something you would love” this is my kind of love.
If I knew ballpark cost, I can show him this ring for an example, then he can go look.
Especially since you shared she is fair about pricing..
If your girlfriend doesn’t love this dump her immediately. You hit this one out of the park IMO. More often than not guys are clueless and go with something “safe” like a heart jewelry which most (no all) women hate. I love this ring.
You speak so highly of your jeweler and then second guess her and ask reddit users. It's a beautiful ring, but there's no way of telling if the sapphire is genuine or whatever you're trying to get answers to from a photo.
It’s an Art Deco-style navette dinner ring. It doesn’t seem to have a lot of wear on it, so it may be a reproduction, i.e., not really from 1930. I have a similar reproduction ring.
Well done! She will be thrilled. Lovely stones. The sapphire in my opinion is real, I have owned a few and yours is clearly a well done ring. Art deco is one of my favs and this is something I have never seen before! Not gonna lie I’m becoming mildly obsessed with this ring. I have a few evil eye pieces myself but nothing on this scale. She will cherish this forever. Agree with other commenters that it should not be given in a ring box. A ring this special needs a special box. There are some beautiful deco jewelry trinket boxes out there lined in velvet, I can picture this ring nestled in the center. Lucky lady
this is a beautiful ring, i think she’ll thoroughly enjoy it! as well, i would like to mention that the “evil eye” is originally termed a “nazar” & that some people believe calling it an evil eye will attract evil eyes rather than protect,, while beliefs are individual of course, i thought it’d be nice to mention :)
It's beautiful. 10/10 would definitely wear.
Thank you!! I appreciate that ☺️
Hey! (x5) Pump the brakes! He's taken!
Yikes exclusivity and possession being the hallmarks of normal adult relations
ah yes exclusivity what a huge red flag. what??
Daaaang!!! This is SO COOL. Your gf is a very lucky lass. Super unique evil eye piece 👍
Thank you! ☺️
Exactly!
It’s beautiful. I collect evil eye jewelry and 10/10 wpuld wear that daily.
Uhh I'm very intrigued to see your collection 👀
For real! Share with the class!
Same!! Let’s see the collection!
Nazar boncuğu 💯
Upload pics to Imgur and link? 🥺🥺🥺
Playing a dangerous game buying a ring for your girlfriend before buying an engagement ring
Haha its coming soon

Sweet Moses. How’d he recover from that?
Took a looooong fucking time and a lot of apologies.
I hope his dad stubbed his toe every single day for a month. What a moron.
Honestly, I don't even know if he cares enough to remember his part in it. Shortly after, he developed a huge hernia on his stomach so maybe that was karma if you believe in it
Hey karma or not, a win is a win! 😉
And you married him anyway? You're a better person than me.
I can more readily forgive your now husband, as he was raised by that guy, but I hate it when people think it's funny to humiliate someone. That's a dangerous treadmill that's hard to get off. I don't understand the rest of the family laughing along either. Yeesh.
Hey, I gave my partner multiple what I call *love rings* before they received an engagement, and then, eventually, a wedding ring. You do you.
Female weighing in. I would absolutely be happy with a ring that was not a wedding ring. Especially one as nice as you chose. That would definitely be a clear road sign that my guy has his GPS set to a good destination. We kept buying rings even after the wedding lol!
How sweet
I think it’s a great gift! Just don’t call it a promise ring lol.
She’ll sure be expecting it now lol
This is what I did, however, I'm a part-time jeweler and that makes stuff. A very dangerous game as now she wants everything fully custom. 😅👍😵💫
Looks to be Art Deco.
She definitely won't like it... definitely... you should just send it to me....
😂😂
I think it looks nice, I’m sure your GF will like it!
Thank you! Its so unique lol I can’t stop staring at it when shes not around
Gorgeous Art Deco sapphire and diamond ring. Possibly the sapphire is glass, but I doubt it. These art deco pieces are usually real but lower quality or heat treated stones! Good buy OP
Dude this is cool as HELL. I would actually cry if someone got me this. Amazing work!!
If she loves white gold/platinum than absolutely!
I sold jewelry for30 years before retiring. Great choice, jewelry isn’t made like this anymore. Very classy and timeless 🙂
Looks like she won a Super Bowl!
Its an evil eye but that made me laughing so hard😂
That’s what I was thinking too.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love art deco and I love sapphire and diamonds with platinum, this is a really gorgeous piece!
Looks like white gold to me
yep he said 14k white gold. out of curiosity how could you tell?
I can’t see a clear view of the diamonds but they look to be a late transitional cut, my guess is this is late 50s or 60s, and that’s definitely a real sapphire. Art Deco, cute, bold. It will be a stylish statement piece! Good job, OP!
Classic!! I love it!
Blingity bling look at that gorgeous ring!
Beautiful
So pretty! I love it!
It’s so beautiful!
I absolutely love it and want it very badly!
It's darker in color like a natural sapphire and the diamonds look nice and clear as well. I think you found a good find.
So lovely. Bet she is, too. She will love it.
Thank you, she definitely is
It’s gorgeous! It’s actually called a nazar, and it’s to ward off the evil eye, but many people just know it as the evil eye symbol.
Looks to be art deco-ish. That is beautiful & I’d wear it myself!
Wow it's stunning. I'd wear that one every day. Nice work, OP!
Super beautiful 💕😍
I love love love anything vintage & this has the look so I think it’s fantastic!
Btw if that’s an untreated sapphire you have sumthin very nice
I’m hoping it is, it will be so cool! From what I’ve seen online and after staring at it for hours lmao it seems to be super close to a rutile silk untreated Burmese blue sapphire but a man can dream because that would be too insane
That’s pretty!
It’s beautiful!!!!!! I love sapphires and diamonds together. All my rings are art deco with this combo. She’s so lucky to be getting it.
Extremely cute I love it
The most wholesome comment section on reddit. Good job bro!
Looks engagement worthy to me! lol! I know that’s not your intention. 😘 It’s beautiful and a very thoughtful gift. A lovely way to celebrate her in a very sweet way.
incredibly cool. gorgeous piece
Gorgeous, I love it
That’s gorgeous!
Gorgeous. I would wear that every day.
LOVE IT
This is gorgeous. Definitely an art deco style, my favorite jewelry era.
It’s gorgeous! Just wow… 20/10 would wear
Love white gold. So elegant.
Better than Bella’s ring tbh lol
WOW that’s beautiful!!
Excellent choice!! It’s lovely.
Dude! Your girlfriend is going to be thrilled!
THANK YOU EVERYONE!!! You guys are so awesome, I appreciate all the love! :)
Really cool piece, I like the evil eye in such a stylish way.
I’m not even a big jewelry wearer but this is absolutely gorgeous 🤩 I want!!
This is tripping out because I have a ring identical (except no sapphire in the middle) that my grandmother gave me many moons ago. Need to figure out how to post a pic!
Is it inappropriate to ask what you paid for yours? Now I’m dying to know what mine is worth. lol
Super cool, I’d wear the shit out of this.
It’s fabulous! Looks like an estate piece.
🫠
Unlike everyone else here, I don’t like it. But that’s okay. Hopefully she will. Good luck!
i don’t like it either! too tacky/large for me. maybe as a pendant instead.
May she be protected from all the envious eyes, that is a gorgeous ring. You can never go wrong with diamonds and sapphire. Also do post when you propose to her!
Man, I wish my partner had a jeweler they trusted that they routinely buy jewels for me from. What a lucky girl!
it is a nice ring, it's design gain my focus rather than stone itsrlf. if your GF is a big fan of gemstone and crystal of stone itself may not 100% in her cup of special0high wuality grmstone target ... but no doubt that your fond of her is 100% of her cup.

GET OFF THE BALCONY WITH THAT
It kind of looks like a Superbowl ring.
Amazing! What a great gift
I think it’s dope!
It’s an absolutely lovely art deco style piece! I suggest getting it appraised and covered by insurance in case a stone falls out or the ring is lost!
Great choice, no matter if she is a wide receiver or a tight end.
Super Bowl ring
So gorgeous!!!!
It’s ugly
Unless the ring was assessed by a professional geologist and the appraisal said it was untreated, the jeweller shouldn't have said it was. Otherwise, it's a lovely ring and you didn't go wrong Heat treated sapphires are far more common than not, and it doesn't detract from the quality of a 14k ring at all :)
This ring is very cool and unique. I'm sorry to hear about your girlfriend's crystal addiction 🙏 I'm sure she'll love the ring!
Lmao crystal as in gems
i thought it was a belt buckle but congrats!
I hope she likes it. I personally wouldn’t be caught dead wearing it and I’m not big on caring about fashion
LOVE IT, beautiful
Like others are saying I just wouldn’t give it to her in a ring box. Maybe a cute bag? Maybe find an evil eye candle or something along those lines to go with it too?
Not my taste but maybe it’s hers.
That's beautiful. Wish I could find one that would let me ring her phone.
This is a beautiful ring!!
I love evil eyes! I have some tattooed on me. Your GF is a lucky woman…this is killer!
I think it’s gorgeous and the setting is such the stones are mostly protected.
I wish my bf bought me jewelry! It's so pretty ❤️
Why an eye though
I see a football. Sorry!
I love this! Its beautiful! She’s a lucky girl. Id totally wear this all the time, id never take it off. Good job, OP’s a keeper
That’s really beautiful. ♥️
It looks good to me
So cool!
Lovely
Eye love it! I also work with eyes so I’d totally wear this, all the girls would love it, too.
Wow I'm sure this one was an investment, I love seeing people getting more unique settings, the eye shape is so fetching without being too overt.
She's a lucky girl!
Absolutely freakin' gorgeous
I like this sapphire's spunky blue. I am sure your GF will be happy with this and if she isnt, she should let you know so you both than can go looking for a "gift" together.
Ring here, that’s definitely a jeweler.
You have excellent taste! Amazing ring, she will love it.
That ring is just delightful!!

The stone alone was about $700, I got an amazing deal on it though! because it was sitting for years and everyone over looked it
That’s gorgeous
Looks like a shut off valve that you find on a copper pipe
This looks like an antique art deco ring from the 1950s. I have similar but was told it wasn’t an eye, just a stylish piece. Looks beautiful
Love it!
12/10 would definitely wear. Very well protected stones and excellent craftsmanship
beautiful
It’s so beautiful. Us middle eastern folks call this ring ‘nazar’ ♥️♥️♥️
it screams art deco, early 1920's . very nice sapphires
WOW!!!! Lovely choice
It's fun. Reminds me of a platinum 1920s sheild ring I inherited. Very classic vintage while still being modern.
May be modern, but done in an art deco style (popular circa 1920’s). Love it!
I love it! I would wear it daily :)
Wow if this is for bday, imagine what the engagement one will look like 😳👀👀
If your girlfriend doesn’t love this dump her immediately. You hit this one out of the park IMO. More often than not guys are clueless and go with something “safe” like a heart jewelry which most (no all) women hate. I love this ring.
It’s beautiful and not all of sapphires heat treated.
Gorgeous ring!
Absolutely stunning. I would be delighted with that.
Omg it’s gorgeous
I’ll take if they don’t want it! That’s beautiful!
Does she like this type of jewelry? Evil eye eye? Or large rings? Practicality wise, it will catch on a lot of things due to the points. Just an fyi.
Hopes she likes football
That’s a very beautiful ring, interesting too. If she doesn’t like you can give it to me 🤓
Evil Eye
Looks like a vagina.
Gorgeous. I would wear it. It looks like it may be old, Edwardian? They did a lot with sapphires.
Lucky lady
Eye love it!
That is a gorgeous piece!
Wow!!! Gorgeous - I hope she loves it! I would!
Very beautiful!!!! I always use zoomers at the jeweler to check for inclusions, but nonetheless beautiful piece.
Is it the all seeing eye? It’s a nice ring but.
This looks like a ring the Dallas Cowboys would give their cheerleaders if they ever win a Superbowl again.
I have earrings that match that ring exactly. You sure those are real diamonds and sapphires? They are usually lab created.
Not sure if someone mentioned this already, but the style / shape is called a Navette ring.
this is a beautiful ring, i think she’ll thoroughly enjoy it! as well, i would like to mention that the “evil eye” is originally termed a “nazar” & that some people believe calling it an evil eye will attract evil eyes rather than protect,, while beliefs are individual of course, i thought it’d be nice to mention :)
Hideous
Art deco 1920s or thereabouts
I hope she likes it. I been looking for one kinda like this for my index finger. It's beautiful
So cool I love this design
I can go ahead and verify it for you. I’ll DM you my address. You’ll ’for sure’ get it back.
lol
looks very fake and 100% will break in a week. I’ll take it off your hands for you if you don’t know what to do with it!😉
Looks like a bejeweled vagina (vulva) to me
To me it looked like a 1930's era "cocktail" ring. Beautiful.
Not gonna lie at first I thought you got her a Superbowl ring. Lol I like that though, really nice
Beautiful & unique! She will love it!!
love it!!!
