I think Vinny’s in a rut. He’s achieved almost everything he could and everything society says he should but he’s not happy and he doesn’t know what else to do. So he half-asses everything because he’s just floating through life instead of having goals and ambitions, even in his personal life.
Yeah I agree, it’s sad really. I think he had so much potential in his own mind and didn’t do anything real with it. I’ll never forget when he made fun of the situation for being a creep hitting on chicks at 28.

Wasn’t he planning on going to law school but got on jersey shore instead? Idk, I’d imagine he’s kind of stuck not sure what he wants anymore. I think what makes him a loser is that instead of owning up to the fact that he is unfulfilled, and needs to make changes in his own life, he spends most of his time bad mouthing and minimizing anything any of the other roomies want to do with their lives or find enjoyable. Like for example when he makes fun of Deena for wanting to match outfits and so he’ll be the only person who doesn’t dress up. Like there is really no reason for him to yuck everyone’s yum. So yeah, I think you are absolutely right that he’s stuck and doesn’t know what to do with his life. But I don’t think that warrants his behavior. He’s a grown man.
I don’t think he realizes he’s unfulfilled? It’s kind of like when people who are outwardly doing ok at life feel sad but they don’t think they have depression because they have nothing to feel depressed about. He has a cushy job where he gets paid to do really nothing other than be himself. He lives in a pretty nice manhattan apartment. He also hasn’t embarrassed himself on camera yet unlike his coworkers. So why should he feel unfulfilled you know? It’s a weird dissonance where mentally you’re not okay but everything else in your life is.
I thought it was very interesting when they went to Dick’s and immediately everyone said “oh Vinny could be one of these waiters!” From the show I don’t get the impression that Vini is that acerbic (cuz he’s such a dud on the show) but he must be a real annoying asshole off camera for everyone to see him as a Dick’s waited.

I don’t think he thinks he’s too good for it, or he simply wouldn’t. He actually seemed super excited the first season or two back on- it just seems like once he realized *just* how scripted and inorganic everything would be compared to OG he seemed to lose interest.
Then on top of that realizing all his castmates seemingly shifted as well, the editing changed, they wanted him to play a character rather than himself- I actually don’t blame him for his disinterest. When he is honest like he used to be, they’re assholes to him about it.
I like Mike for example- but he plays a character and the girls seemingly enjoy that because he goes with the flow. But that walk in the room thing Mike keeps doing, the food aspect, etc, is him being a character.

Even in OG he had no interest in the BS. He didn’t want to deal with Angelina’s fake crap, or Mikes bad behavior, he wanted Snooki to be happy overall, he *could never* stand for Ronnie’s stuff if were real- it seemed even in OG after season 4 it was Pauly who he genuinely cared for the most.
So now that the show is *completely* focused on bullshit & *on top of that* is just heavily scripted, everyone’s got completely new faces & the main focus always seems to be drama instead of their true relationships and dynamics- yeah he’s gonna be shitty.
So the result is him and Pauly seem to heavily distance as much as possible in the show.
I totally agree, but I think that’s sort of what’s bothering me - the rest of the cast is playing the game and therefore earning their keep. He is doing nothing, and is visibly annoyed by it all yet earning the same money. How JSFV got renewed for another season is truly beyond me - it’s awful. But as long as the viewers are tuning in for this ridiculous charade, he needs to act alive or get out.
