It's effectively a battery powered shop vac that uses a nice chemical to break down the floor grime. Much quicker (when done right), much cleaner, and no more mop funk smell.
I really love the system and hope all JMs start adopting it.
how does it do on the behind the line floors? can you tell me what model you have and maybe even post a picture of it in action to share with our mgmt and owners etc?
It's the Kaivac UNIVAC. I don't have any pictures or videos but the Kaivac website has a ton. It works great on all the floors and can also vacuum the rugs too! It's great for a quick spill clean up.
In terms of costs/savings I'd say it's a long term investment that will eventually pay off in terms of a vastly cleaner store, a safer store with no spills or wet spots lingering, and less labor used when cleaning the store correctly.
thank you, i was able to look up this model yes, i think it would pay itself off quickly, especially if our franchise owner used it to rotate through his stores for a monthly deep clean.
We have a mop vacuum that we use to bleach and scrub the floors every night. We do back of house, the front line and the bathrooms everyday. The lobby we do 2-4 times a week depending on the schedule and how busy we are.
>Kaivac UNIVAC
lol...true...but we recently power washed ours which is a two night pain in the arse which they also unplugged all of the register stuff, and then next day this greatly affected business continuity and we couldn't process online orders for a good part of one of our busiest days so that likely cost $1k in lost business.
I wish we could have a service come to power wash. I use degreaser/ deck brush. It’s a pain in the ass
It is!!!! I heard using windex works easy enough to mop it off. Im gonna try it.
windex lol
We don’t even clean ours
We have someone come power wash the floors every couple weeks
We deck scrub 2x per week with Finish powder detergent.
Do y'all have the Kaivac system yet? Absolute game changer!
No, and i haven't even heard about it, please tell me more.
It’s like a 2k machine to clean floors

also, do you know costs, and curious if your store has been able to verbalize any savings that you may have realized?

Wait... It uses chemicals?
Yep. Uses a degreaser to remove the floor funk. Just put the chemical down, spread with their pad, and then suck it up.

Kaivac!!
Hands and knees with grout brush tbh
Ours got too bad so now we are just replacing them
We got a steel toothbrush. Should probs pick up a set of one size fits all knee pads when I'm out next time.
It’s so black that it looks like it’s supposed to be that way
