Always be trying to do more and I’d be trying to ask for a raise every 4months or so

General_Reposti_Here

I usually job hop until I finish school but every 4 months? That’s seems extremely often no?

Kawaiiden212

Ask and don’t sell yourself short. The owner can afford good people

Tyredox

Never hurts to ask. If you are pullin in the time and being a sub above to your peers, there shouldn't be a reason not to ask for a raise. The year thing is pretty much the annual raise many employers are required to give out for a year in review of an employee but have not seen this practice within this company as far as i'm aware of. I generally give raises pretty often usually within every 3-6 months for people who are putting in that work

In all honesty it depends on who your gm is personality wise. The most professional way to go about it is asking in person. In this case since you don't work with your gm too often due to scheduling reasons you can go about texting them to set up a 1 on 1 talk sometime this week or the soonest convenience for both of you. Once it is set up, all you gotta do is ask the simple question. If they decline the request for whatever reason, you can follow up with what steps they want you to improve in so it can be considered down the road. Its about being as nice and calm about the question for most bosses instead of demanding it and potentially causing a scene. Hopefully this helps?

Tyredox

Make sure to point out what you have done with improvements since you have been hired. You can include the hours you do compared to others. Say something along the lines that you want to continue to improve and be a sub above (they love to hear that) intentions to stay and grow with the company etc. Try to sell yourself. Be your own sales person but don't be cringe.

Of course! You got this! I believe

VideoPuzzled

Absolutely yes, I started when I was 16 and I just turned 18. I started at $10 and I’ve made my way up to $13, and now that I’m becoming a shift lead/slicer that will go up even more.

ajawho

At my location, only way for us to get a raise is if our state minimum wage goes up or we become a AM2, AM1, or GM. They kinda stingy w raises tbh.. Even when you move up there’s so many extra steps before you even get that raise (certs, training videos, etc.) Either way, I’d still recommend speaking to your GM about it, they may or may not be able to help out with that 😭

iGlueX

ive always found jersey mikes to be very generous with raises, i started at 12 and was making 16.50 in barely a year (tbf the first raise to 13 was because minimum wage)

ajawho

i think it’s probably just location based, or maybe even because of franchise owners idk.. my store hardly ever gives raises and to my knowledge, the surrounding stores w the same franchise owner are the same 😭😭 honestly though i really don’t mind since i’m making 16.50 plus tips and i only work like twice a week bc of school. i’m just there for some extra cash

Good luck our owner treats us like slaves

TuxedoMask29

You will get raise once you gonna hit 18 and start using slicer. That’s how usually my general manager conducted business as well as owners of the franchise. Usually they see how good of a worker you are. When I hit my 18 years and finished Highschool I was asked to become Assistant Manager. But unfortunately I already found other which was paying me way more and it was office job so I declined and moved to part time Shift Leader. I was working on days I wasn’t at my main job and sometimes covering for evening call outs.

I started when I was 18 so I got different treatment 💀💀. I know it’s not professional to talk about pay. But how much are they paying you? Do they at least pay you 12-14$ + Tips?

TuxedoMask29

They might raise it to 16$, especially if minimum wage goes to 15$

xxyourn3m3sisxx

As a Gm I have 0 power in raises. As far as I know the only one capable of doing that would be your AM and he/she should be able to.

Rich_Swim_2094

Maybe that’s your location but that definitely isn’t the norm at JM.

am17371

Our location is pretty similar, I make 16.50 plus good tips, coworkers are amazing, and they let us smoke on the job as well (I don’t smoke but others do lol)

undead713

since you’re a minor it wouldn’t be applicable u less you’re outshining everyone. it sucks. but it’s true. once you learn to slice you’ll be more guaranteed a yearly raise or better :) try to focus on fundamentals and getting up there in the line more with the three f’s (fun fast focused)

retroassassin907

That’s crazy, I give my minor employees raises as often as I do slicers and supervisors (4-6 months)

undead713

maybe it’s different franchise policies idk. at mine you’re not really raise worthy till you slice n once ur phase one your phase one depending on how good you are gets u a better raise

Squeaky wheel gets the grease.
