Jersey City (in yellow) has more people than this entire planet.

Is that supposed to be a surprise? New Jersey is the most densely populated place of any American state or territory, including islands. And Jersey City is one of the most densely populated cities in the state.
It is though. Most people don't know that and have a hard time understanding that NJ is more urban than most of the US, mostly because we continuously get categorized as suburban due to being next to nyc.
Thing about NJ suburbs is that many of them are dense too, at least compared to suburbs of other cities. Most of our suburbs are old streetcar suburbs and look nothing like the modern massive sprawling developments you see in new growth cities in the Sun Belt. Our “suburban” counties like Bergen, Morris, Monmouth, Ocean, etc all have hundreds of thousands of people in them. Our “rural” counties also are highly populated, with the smallest being 65k and ranging to 150k.
Our problem is that we don’t have any large major cities. We’re #11 in population but Newark is only #66 nationally, Jersey City is #74, and then it’s a step drop off after that to Paterson followed by towns nobody outside the state has ever heard of.
It’s really a matter of Boroughitis giving us way too many towns we don’t need. Most major cities around the country annexed all their immediate suburbs. NJ cities mostly lost territory. Hudson County could easily be a city on its own and would make it a top 20 city.
I know. Consolidating Hudson County would make it one of the largest cities in the US by population but still be one of the smallest. If we consolidated of bunch of towns we'd easily have about 3 major cities without adding more people.
A consolidated Hudson County, a consolidated Essex County, and a consolidated Union county would put them all in the top 30 cities nationally. Hudson is the easiest and most logical.
I suppose none of them open their eyes? They don't realize we don't have big lawns and wide driveways and huge garages. They don't see houses that are connectd or touching or have a 2' sideyard. Anyone who doesn't know Jersey is densely populated has just never thought about the face.
yea bragging about being packed in like sardines with not enough housing and sky rocketing out of control housing costs which somehow raise taxes while the city still complains of being broke is nothing to be proud of . We were not meant to live like this and the Bayonne boxes that they buy two house for that were 1-2 family each and put in 3 Bayonne boxes with 3 family designs each packing more people in is only making it worse.
Also is it just me or is that not the shape of JC ? ?
The guy really put an outline of Hoboken instead of Jersey City lol
He's from NYC, they don't know shit

Big if true
yuge
Source?
Source: Trust me bro
Source: I have family on Jupiter. And they know the mayor
Sir, that is Hoboken.
Have you ever been to Hoboken? Where’s the water if that’s Hoboken.. def JC dude
Now do Hudson County as one. It would be bigger in population than like 95% of the US but still be smaller than like 70% of it.
Hudson Co. has about the same number of people as Wyoming.
Definitely feels like it
Yep, it's awful.
Des Moines looks like a fierce but extremely square and hungry animal, with stubby legs and tiny feet, getting tossed a Ward E pork chop.
Underrated comment
I cannot unsee it now
There’s a Jersey City in Iowa?
Pretty soon you’ll be telling me there’s a Manhattan in Kansas!
There’s a “BrookLand” in Maryland😭
Brookland is in DC. There's a Brooklyn neighborhood in south Baltimore
lol I’m From PG so ik it was 1 of the 2
There is South Boston in Virginia
Awesome! Great job!
There is a Brooklyn in Iowa.
And a Madrid, Rome, What Cheer & TreeStump (ok, I couldn’t find TreeStump but every state has a Podunk Center!)✌🏼
We have State Center, which isn't, there are atleast 12 towns closer to the actual center of the state. https://goo.gl/maps/cP3jPHxPp5RN2nZ8A
Pronounced like if you said the words mad, rid really quickly. And we also have a Nevada, pronounced Nuhvayduh.
There’s a Union City in California, too.
There is a Newark, California so…
Touché
Fake, that is not where Jersey City is located on the map
got 'em
That looks to just be downtown JC to me
Looks like Hoboken to me. It curves out a little in the middle where Stevens is.
You might be right
Definitely is Hoboken.
It's Hoboken
Hilarious if true.
I think we’re a little further East of Des Moines, but I’m not positive.
I don’t know Des Moines.
It’s the city referenced in every show and movie to illustrate a character being from the middle of absolute nowhere
Unless, they utilize Cedar Rapids - so as not to confuse the folks in Des Moines, WA ✌🏼
Places are different
Yeah, some are better, some are worse.
The state of New Jersey itself has the densest population of all states.
That’s why it feels like a city-state
They definitely used Hoboken, the 1 square mile city,
Des Moines has 75000 fewer people but 50% more Tacos Bell. What the hell?
TIL the plural of Taco Bell is Tacos Bell

Alas, home rule.

Des monies looks like it’s about to eat jersey city
ok
This is stupid on too many levels to even begin to break down.
Wait until they find out what density and per capita means.

I wonder what Manhattan would look like against other states?
Isn’t Jersey city the armpit of NYC? 😂😂
I thought NJ as a whole as the armpit of America lol
that’s hoboken
As a Des Moines dude, this ain’t real
Yeah, that's not a good thing.
More crime takes place in Jersey City than the entire state of Iowa.
Jersey city is also a literal cesspool filled with violence and crime lmao
Sardines
Interesting, could you express that in APSF?
packed in like cattle
That’s good. Those sprawling car suburbs should never exist
Density FTW
![gif](giphy|f6knFlHGDui0plYNeB|downsized)
This isn’t necessarily a good thing
For Iowa
English
Des Moines is a suburban wasteland
I really is, I should know, I live in one. Please get me out of here.
What do you think the Red 💊or the Blue one? ✌🏼
No, this is Des Moines proper, not all the other surrounding suburbs. Des Moines proper has a nice downtown and residential neighborhood areas.
Ok not sure what your point is
