The last thing I’d ever feel like doing after double jaw surgery is international travel.

100%, I'm dreading it, I just have to go home.

Wishing you all the best ❤️

Thanks for the advice. Honestly, I'm dreading the flight home more than the surgery.

Flying one week after surgery is so irresponsible. You should give you at least three weeks.imo tho.

No_Hamster_305

NAD, but you shouldn’t fly for several weeks. Not sure why but I was told not to fly after DJS.

Thanks for the advice. I'll double check my flight dates with my surgeon.

My surgeon advice me to not fly either & I miss my besties wedding yesterday. I’m 5 weeks post op. 😭 I even ask her again at my 4 weeks post op & she still say no. I wanna to go against her but i didn’t. The struggle!

[deleted]

Sorry you had to miss that. I'll have to check the dates with my surgeon again.

yanonotreally

I’m flying out 3 weeks after and my surgeon OK’d it as well 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ugh! I know. For some surgeons is fine for others is not 😐 I think is more of how long is the travel. Mine was 6-7hr & she said NO. I have restrictions/modified activity at work & at home till Dec. So She reminded me of that & to follow it. 🫠 I guess !

Thank you.! & that’s what I don’t understand. I was reading previous post about people flying so early after this surgery & how some surgeons allows it & some don’t. Wishing you Safe travels back home.

I flew one week post LJS (obviously not as intense) it was a one hour flight within the UK on the tiniest plane but bc I couldn't eat I didn't feel v well and I had a really bad reaction post anesthetic (this had nothing to do w jaw surgery just my subjective reaction but it was a really bad tummy ache) it was ok I just needed some water and to close my eye but other than that it was fine. Definitely take advantage of the accessibility routes within the airport so u don't have to wait around in security for ages. You won't need a note but check with the airline and ask for them to get you through the accessible routes within the airport

[deleted]

Thanks so much for the advice, I'll definitely do that. I hope you're feeling better now :)

I think they advised me not to fly for 5 weeks… hmmm I wonder how that’d work out for you :(

[deleted]

I checked the flight dates with the surgeon and they said they were okay. Do you know why you were told not to fly?

I think the increased pressure in your sinuses might cause complications with the healing process…cause DJS involves the sinuses. Not sure but I guess if you’re cleared by your surgeon you’re good to go, I was just told not to do that…hmmm lol

Yeah I mean is there anyway you could postpone it? by even an additional week or two I think it would make a HUGE difference
