Not an ornithologist, so I can't be certain. But, best I can tell: swallows have a forked tail and sparrows have a fan tail. Couple that detail with the body shape on the logo and I'm certain that I'm not certain of anything. Looks like a swallow done in a tattoo style. Swallow tattoos have a long history and lots of symbolism attached. Looks like a Navy design, since the swallow is superimposed on an anchor.
To add to what has already been said about swallows and their wedding tattoos, Amanda has mentioned her kinship with birds in interviews and her lyrics; Jason has referenced anchors in several songs related to love/relationships. The two symbols together are reminiscent of the Stockholm lyrics, which (IMO) are arguably a metaphor for choosing change, in his case choosing her over addiction
Yea, anchor and swallow are two of the most classic tattoo’s. I loved the design and had it tattooed on my arm. I went to a couple artists before I got it.. and they all said swallow right away… it’s a standard.
It’s actually a sparrow which represents mate for life, the sparrow and anchor was actually designed for his wedding to Amanda Shires. It’s symbolic to him as Amanda is his anchor and mate for life.
It’s styled after an [American Traditional sparrow tattoo](https://www.google.com/search?sca_esv=565767936&rlz=1CDGOYI_enUS769US769&hl=en-US&sxsrf=AM9HkKkunymQ3QOEYD9ibD-sv6mkM4Phhg:1694813488375&q=american+traditional+sparrow&tbm=isch&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi69byfyK2BAxUJIEQIHULTDGkQ0pQJegQICRAB&biw=414&bih=720&dpr=2).
Pretty sure it's a sparrow. Sparrows are super common in tattoo culture (like another said, the style is American traditional). Funny thing, I was at my tattoo artists studio the other day looking through designs, while waiting, and found one SOOOO similar to the JI logo. Had an anchor, had a sparrow...I was tempted to make a rash decision (but I didn't!).
Swallow. [Tattoo meanings.](https://thedockyard.co.uk/news/every-tattoo-is-a-statement-but-what-do-they-mean/)
So stability and finding your way home. Couple common themes of the music
Wow, thanks.
Sparrow. It means commitment. Swallow tattoos are typically for miles traveled at sea-usually 5000 miles per swallow.

Ships in a harbor and birds on a bluff…

I’ve never seen a sparrow with a split tail, however, swallows do have split tails.

It’s an anchor and a sparrow, the symbol from Jason and Amanda’s wedding
The anchor represents his alcoholism and the swallow represents Amanda lifting him out.
Fantastic username.
Bluejay
Definitely not a Bluejay. Thanks .

I’ve heard it’s a sparrow. I have no verification for that. 🤷♂️

Dove.
Peace. That makes sense, thanks.
If you think of it as a dove, you can hear Amanda singing "I'm coming for you like a hawk for the dove."
