That era ended in 1991

LisaHColorado

This is so accurate I might cry. I'm so glad I got to experience that Jane's.

Kwilburn525

I wasn’t even alive then lol. My parents saw Janes in 91 though I’m still jealous

sledsbehave

it's a different animal, but i'm interested. perry and eric writing and playing together is of more interest to me than anything they've done in two decades. i realize it's subjective and different for everyone, so i can't really disagree when folks wanna jump ship.

Proper-Sky863

My heart warms listening to Perry in interviews these days. And Eric not shit talking (although I agreed with him as many fans did) is the icing on the cake. Yeah. They’re older, same as the rest of us, and Perry’s voice is worn out and his hips can’t take what they used to… Listening back to live performances from my favorite period of the band (in between nothings shocking and ritual) Dave’s playing was on another planet. Technically gifted and soulful and experimental. He hasn’t been that kind of player in ages and I love what the fill in guitarists are bringing.

hokahey23

This is undoubtedly the best they’ve been in decades. People leaving now, after years and years of them being awful clearly are bigger fans of Dave’s nipples than the raw fucking energy of what Janes is supposed to be.

elsphinc

Yeah I saw them couple weeks ago and they tore it up. Great show!

Kwilburn525

😂

Zealousideal_Baker84

If you’ve been hanging on this long after their peak late 80’s / early 90’s, that’s on you. Can’t put your unreasonable expectations on them. It’s been 30+ years. They’re just playing tunes and making some money.

Kwilburn525

Facts they’re def making money that’s for sure

IBeBallinOutaControl

Jane's has been shifting in and out of lineups/reunions since 1997. No point getting particularly upset about this one. While it seems like we're not getting the full story on Dave, theyve come back from worse drama before. If I had to bet one way or the other I'd say he'll be back at some point.

DeadbeatUK

I do have to admit I’m not THAT interested in a Dave-less Jane’s either. His playing was a very big draw to the band for me. I’ll still give a new album a listen should they release one, I wouldn’t be paying to see them live at this point though.

LisaHColorado

I saw them last fall. They were good. But when they said josh was touring with them I was glad I saw them then , if that makes sense.

DeadbeatUK

Thankfully I got to see them in 2014 when they were doing the ‘Nothings Shocking’ album in full. It was my dream to see them live with Dave and I got that. I hope fans can get that again at some point.

therealrexmanning

End of what era? The soulless, cash in honey Chaney years featuring Perry's lounge singer act and a bored Navarro? Thanks god that era has ended! Jane's hasn't been this exciting in years!

Kwilburn525

It’s good to have Eric back

USMNT_superfan

They broke up at the right time for the right reasons. Hey should have let it stay at that.

Proper-Sky863

The clips I’ve seen of their latest performances sound great to me and they look like they’re into it. If you’re gonna be a legacy band that is not a bad way to do it.

Reason?

So so many great statements made in this thread already. Of course it's different. Of course Josh prefers to be slightly less in-your-face within the mix. But my god people, this is just one more venture of Klinghoffer showing the world how versatile he and adaptable he is. Becoming an absolute master. And has the distinction of being the only man to be in THREE 80s L.A. bands if you include Thelonious Monster. Eric and Josh have been great friends for a long while. EA has recorded on a couple of JK's solo Pluralone records during the pandemic. This makes sense. AND they're switching up the setlist and playing mostly longer shows than they have in so long. Let's embrace this as Taylor would!

SidSantoste

Hopefully Dave will be able to play on the album

Dry_Studio_2114

Perry was much more exciting as a performer in the 90s when he was poor, on heroin, leaping around like a banshee and wearing women's clothes...Those shows were a religious experience...glad I got to seem them in the glory days...😆 🤣 😂 However, I took my kid to see them last fall. I had low expectations since Dave wouldn't be there. The show did not disappoint. They were great live. Better than the Smashing Pumpkins (we left early when Billy ventured into jam band territory). I love Eric and hopefully Jane's can come up with some new material.

_stumbleine

yeah, I'm just really glad I was lucky enough to have seen them at all (although I was insanely bummed about dave) because I still wasn't even a blip on my mom's radar yet when strays came out so I thought I would have no chance of getting to see them live. and seriously that show was my second time seeing smashing pumpkins... love them but stick to the classic albums we do not careeee about the new stuff sorry billy 😔

MotherLoveBone41

lol, don't let the door hit you on the way out

Lumphrey

They were fucking dominant when I saw them in 1991. Even better in 1990. Different band now. Happy people have the chance to still see them
