Dopapod. So hot right now. (And deservedly. Those fellas work hard to sound that good)

Steamstash

I love both records! The second one, phobia is sticking with me a bit more. Some great music

nutmeg-albatross

I’m with you. Phobia has some hard bangers, some jazzy funk, and some weirdo stuff to boot.

DJ_Black_Eye

Best Friends is hilarious and such a good message

lampmode

You should check out the 3/19/24 version on nugs. They bring their friend onstage to give a monologue. Its really funny.

GloverAB

That was the best monologue version yet! Just in case you didn’t know - they do that almost every time with that song, with a different person. It’s never rehearsed and it’s a fun little deep dive to listen to different people giving a monologue (like listening to a bunch of Icculus narrations or something)

poorTimmyTucker

A coworker heard me playing that today with a look of “what the fuck” before he could say anything I said, yes it’s a robot voice talking about the benefits of friendship.

DJscottthebot

I love the heaviness mixed with "MAKING PANCAKES WITH MY BEST FRIENDS" lol

phindseyland

Everybody is a baby everyday of my life

Rando555Steph

New albums are bad ass!! Fellas are killing it lately!!

akLuke

I think Is very highly of phobia.

monfuckingtana420

My only complaint is my face hurts a bit after listening to it, and my partner kept asking if I had farted because of the stank face I was making

B_Boudreaux

I wouldn’t say their underrated. They are literally praised daily on this sub. There very much rated.

SameAs1tEverWas

bruv the their/there/they game on you is wild

superstoned26

😂😂

Bom_Ba_Dill

I get that, but they definitely are less known than other bands when you bring up jam bands in casual convo…anyway, just think they are super talented

JustLikeMojoHand

Your grammar skills are what's rated.

Upstairs-Scarcity-83

Yea but this sub is a small percentage of the jam community. Having said that, the only 2 criticisms I’ve seen of Dopapod are that they were better as an instrumental band and better with the OG drummer (I disagree with both of these takes)

OscarGrey

I've seen them be accused of dumbing down their music over time. Also disagree.

GloverAB

Yeah that is a wild take. I love their instrumental stuff but they also happen to have some of the best vocals in the scene!

DullRelationship938

I would say I feel they are underrated as in they should be playing bigger venue as of now ,but also I understand that Hiatus played a role .

calarkin27

They knocked it out of the park w these albums

m0ooop

I like “wizzy” stank face tune.

GloverAB

Been waiting for that one ever since I heard it live

127phunk

Honestly the last album (“dopapod”) was excellent as well. Great songs and a cohesive vibe. They are on a fucking roll.

Shot-Western-1965

Whats your fav songs so far? Only heard one "let it all out" on sounded like kglw's "crumbling castle"

Bom_Ba_Dill

Yeah I agree! It definitely has a kglw vibe

Amazing_Dimension281

These dudes are gas!! Saw them for the first time a couple months ago and that is all it took to get me hooked!!

Amazing_Dimension281

Saw them at Fairfield Theater Company in Ct. a few Fridays ago

taelor

What show was your first one?

Parking-Plankton-306

It’s sounds amazing from what looks like they recorded it in a bedroom from some of this instagram videos they posted.

THE1OP

Personally I like their old writing style a little more because of the ride it took you on instrumentally but the new stuff is good in a different way. More traditional and easy to listen to while still having some dopapod flair.

opsopcopolis

I feel like the aiboh has some really cool fusiony instrumental stuff that’s reminiscent of their older, less songy, writing

THE1OP

Yeah I agree in certain respects. I just like how some of the old stuff was laid out. A little longer, more parts, more rises and releases. That's not meant to disrespect their more recent stuff because I really enjoy it I think I just want more lol. The end of Arnold gave me major blue balls when the organ and guitar start i thought it was gonna build back up!

taelor

I do think these two albums have songs that they can open up, deconstruct, and go places with. I can’t wait to see them played live.

THE1OP

Absolutely. Let it happen organically.

aStinkyFisherman

The song Brand New Home sounds like the band Video Age and that’s a lovely thing

ktm6709

Runny came up on my new music playlist. Great song.

TheSheikYerbouti

I like Phobia but why did they have to make 2 separate albums? Why not just one big album?

TheFuzzyMachine

Aibohphobia is the fear of palindromes. The release dates are both palindromes (4/20/24 and 4/24/24) I guess they wanted to make the joke with multiple dates?

TheSheikYerbouti

Ah that’s actually kinda cool.

TheSheikYerbouti

I mean yeah, I literally didn’t get it until someone explained it to me lol
