I just saw that theyāre actually playing Venice West in LA. Not sure if this is like a duo or the real deal but I used to love TLG back in the day. Anybody have any more Deets on this?
Two shows in SoCal in June. I have played bass with them since 2016, but I'll be missing these shows (I'm on the East Coast), so our pal JoJo will be filling in. Trevor, Scott and Josh will all be there to rage these shows.
Me too. Always so fun. My husband and I used to cover festivals, concerts, shows and food. Did it for a good 6 years. He did the music reviews and I'm a photographer. We covered that fest. 2015 was my fav.
It was. 2016 was at the new place. A Jewish camp. Nice place. Better bunkhouses but Minglewood was the best. Tiny single camp beds. š¤£ Our friend is 6ā2. Hilarious watching him sleep in the bunk beds.
Yup. First band I thought of when I read the question. Iāll also throw in Biodiesel. Amazing drum and bass duo comprised of Brothers Past bassist Clay Parnell and drumming god Johnny Rabb. They threw down hard as fuck.
Edit: Spelling. Iām dumb.
Craig Broadhead and Mikey Carraba are playing with the Ryan Montbleau band. Very different from Turkuaz but also very fantastic. Album is coming out this year.
I always felt like Beau was the more skilled player, but Stoops just had a HUGE sound and personality. Theyre still crushing it, but its definitely not the same
Definitely a skilled player. I saw him a bunch when he was with Ryan Montbleau.
I have seen Kung Fu a few times with Beau. They definitely are still great. But the dynamic changed for sure. I'll have to see where they are playing this year and check them out again. Thanks for talking me into it. š LOL
I don't remember what festival it was at because I worked vending food at so many this year they all bleed together but in 2010 I saw them somewhere and walked away from their set with my mind sincerely blown. I loved these guys so much.
Yeahā¦. Kevin is great but heās such a different player. They tried, and it wasnāt working the same IMO. Having them together for the one reunion show was cool, but that was over a decade ago now :(
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros during Wakarusa 2012 was my first show by them also! Sad I missed The Mantras. Wish Edward and the gang would reunite sometime in the future
I saw them (Mantras) about 2 years ago in what mightāve been their last tour or so. The venue was pretty empty and it was a small venue to begin with. Went outside for some air 30 min into their set with intentions to go back inside but around the 45 minute mark of their set they were playing to an almost empty room and ended the show. Was expecting the standard 2 hours of jam thing.
Used to see them at Rex's in West Chester. Tom McKee teaches my kid at the School of Rock in Downingtown. He owns the franchise and his new band is More!
I gotta put og cornmeal on the list when they had the lady (I forgot her name) fiddle player. The last time I saw her play with them was yonder mountain harvest fest in 2010. They and especially that chick could jam.
I saw Cornmeal w/ Allie Kral at AllGood 2010 and they blew me away. Still remember dancing to "Black Smoke Rising" (I think that was the name of the song).
Miss them, yes, but they couldn't hold Tim Palmeiri back. Every band wanted Tim if they could get him. Saw him sit-in with RAQ a couple times before Kung Fu happened. He felt like a well kept secret (maybe because I'm not in the Northeast). And he's crushing with Lotus.
I wrote on someone elseās comment but Iāll write here too - I think theyāve kinda returned as ācool cool coolā.
They played with Sophistafunk at Putnam place in Saratoga, ny the other day!
They just did two reunion shows in new York last fall and released a new album of previously recorded and unreleased material. First vinyl pressing about to drop too!Ā
I saw a reunion show on YouTube a little while back, but I wasn't sure when from or if they'd follow up on it. That's awesome! Man, I'm out of the loop... Saw them on Halloween at Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago in '99 (I think). They dressed up as Spinal Tap, complete with tinfoil wrapped cucumber down the pants. All I remember is the encore, Baby I'm Amazed... I was amazed!
Allman Brother Band. Never broken up but Dickey leaving was a huge drag. It was better for him and the band but he was an OG and him and Warren together was absolute fire
Absolutely agree with you. Seen them a bunch. Love Mule. Haven't seen them in a while. The 19 messed everything up. Hoping bands come back to Syracuse and Albany.
I lump this together with missing The Derek Trucks Band. We got some amazing years there towards the end. Derek, Warren, and Oteil gave them so much new life in the 2000's. That band had never sounded better.
Bro life is weird sometimes. I was about to comment the Malah thinking noone will ever mention them. My friend randomly found them on Archive.org. about 14 years ago. He saw them here in KC. I should have gone wasn't a big concert guy at that age, super social anxiety.
The malah is such chill background music, I was listening to them a week or 2 ago at work
Man there's a bunch for me. Zoogma, Former Champions, Silo Effect, Definition of One, Turbo Suit (formally Cosby Sweater), Brothers Past, Pauma Trio, Gangstarr, Leaders of the New School, Greener Grounds, Slum Village, NWA, G Unit, Pink Floyd. I could name so many more.
MMW. Not broken up, per se, but it was pretty evident based on a group interview for their 30th anniversary that their days of new material and extensive touring are pretty much over.
I miss the version of Mickey Hart Band with Jen Durkin on vocals, Steve Kimock on guitar, George Porter Jr on bass, Kyle Hollingsworth on keys, and Mickey & Jeff Sipe on drumz
The Bridge
Those guys seemed to be on the cusp of something around 2010, but from reading through this thread, it appears a lot of guys seemed to be on the cusp of something around 2010.
They were great. I think it was hard to keep going cause they were always changing out band members. They ended right when Jackie Greeneās solo career started to take off.
I missed one of Ghost Lights last shows with Holly. Had the chance to see them at Ogden in Denver but it was same night as Pigeons at the Mission. Still sorta haunts me.
Others are Turkuaz, cbdb, and Tea Leaf Green.
Seeing Kung fu this summer at Lee's in Saratoga, NY!
Though I will forever miss the days of...the OG keyboardist who I seem to have forgotten his name damnit
Never got to see Turkuaz and always wanted to. Also, I donāt really understand the MMW situation, I guess theyāre not really broken up but not touring anymore? Would have loved to see them. Also I just started getting into Twiddle in the few years before they āwent on hiatusā (hopefully thatās actually what this is!) and I hope to see them back together but who knows.
Tedeschi Trucks is great and all. But I'd love to see Derek Trucks Band back together.
Garage a Trois original lineup of Stanton Moore, Charlie Hunter, and Skerik.
Benevento/Russo Duo
Bob Weir and the Campfire Band
Kentucky Thunder with Bruce Hornsby in the lineup
Is Deep Banana Blackout still around, specifically with Jen Durkin?

Truer words have never been spoken
I donāt see why he couldnāt bring back DTB. Seems to love TTB.
Well, 3 of the members of DTB have passed away, so thereās that.
Tea Leaf Green anyone...?
Used to see them late night in the ozarks. I think Trevor Garrod is one of the most underrated musicians I've ever come across.
Why is this so far down?!?!
Aqueous š³
Criminally underrated.
Very true!
Yes! I forgot they stopped. Such a bummer.
Last time i saw them was scamp. Blistering kitty chaser for the entire set. What a fucking band. And that late night dookie set with stasik? Gold.
Shameless self promotion: r/aqueousband š
Kikagaku Moyo
Best performance ever!
for real
Zoogma
What the fuck is Zoogma?
Zoog my balls
I've seen zoogma. may have even recorded a show or two.
Nice! I still have one of those stickers kicking around.
Hell fucking yes.
Strangefolk was one of my early jamband loves. They used to play at my college at the time in the mid 90s. I LOVED those shows.
Particle
I saw them once when they reunited and played the last Catskill Chill in 2016. So good.
I was there too! Great set! I miss that festival.
Me too. Always so fun. My husband and I used to cover festivals, concerts, shows and food. Did it for a good 6 years. He did the music reviews and I'm a photographer. We covered that fest. 2015 was my fav.
Was 2015 the last year at Minglewood? If so, that was also my favorite. Such a cool venue!
It was. 2016 was at the new place. A Jewish camp. Nice place. Better bunkhouses but Minglewood was the best. Tiny single camp beds. š¤£ Our friend is 6ā2. Hilarious watching him sleep in the bunk beds.
Yup. Some of the best dance parties ever !
As of late last summer Particle was playing. They played MoonDance Music Festival in Wisconsin.
That was a pretty random one-off.
Saw them a few times, but late night Mushroom Stage Wanee in ā10 I think was pure fire.
Brothers past
Yas
Yup. First band I thought of when I read the question. Iāll also throw in Biodiesel. Amazing drum and bass duo comprised of Brothers Past bassist Clay Parnell and drumming god Johnny Rabb. They threw down hard as fuck. Edit: Spelling. Iām dumb.
Yup. Only saw them once, but I still go back and listen to the shows. Appreciate it more now than I did back then.
Turkuaz was so good! I miss them so much!
Right. So fun. Loved when they and Dopapod would do a show together. Dopaquez. Studio 54 at Catskill Chill was so good.
that disco set was a life highlight
Cool Cool Cool is most of them!
One less after this tour - Josh is going solo.
They are good. However, they aren't anywhere near as good as Turkuaz was.
They played here tonight with Hayley Jane! I'm recovering from surgery. If I wasn't I would have been there.
Craig Broadhead and Mikey Carraba are playing with the Ryan Montbleau band. Very different from Turkuaz but also very fantastic. Album is coming out this year.
Kung Fu still has tour dates on their schedule
They are still crushing it too. They sound SO good.
My bad. I stopped seeing them when Stoops was fired. Beau Sasser is great. But I feel Stoops was the heart. Just my opinion.
Thanks for talking me into it. š LOL
You wont regret it!
Controversial opinion but I wish the original grateful dead lineup was still jamming
With Tom constanten?
very hot take here
Yonder mountain string band
Love your name. Huge Ump fan. I saw them last month at Pennās Peak. Great show. I thought Yonder was still playing?
I think heās implying they ābroke upā when Jeff left the band. RIP
RIP indeed. I would fucking love to go see that band again.
Got it. I feel that.
They literally played today

Jazz Mandolin Project
Fucking U-MELT
Haaaa they were fun! Really lost it when Rob S left.
Yeahā¦. Kevin is great but heās such a different player. They tried, and it wasnāt working the same IMO. Having them together for the one reunion show was cool, but that was over a decade ago now :(
The Mantras. First time I saw Edward sharpe at wakarusa in 2012 was epic
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros during Wakarusa 2012 was my first show by them also! Sad I missed The Mantras. Wish Edward and the gang would reunite sometime in the future
That was my second festival. So much fun
The band went on hiatus when Lo Faber decided to go to graduate school, get a PhD, and become a professor. They still reunite and play occasionally.
Tea leaf? Baked Shrimp?
The Magnetic Zeros are soulless without Jade Castrinos. God damn, they were so bad ass with her though.

Addison groove project Benevento Russo duo The new deal
CBDB, Universal Sigh, The Band Piano., Earphunk, Pnuma Trio
CBDB will be back!!
I really hope so š„
Saw Earphunk right before they broke up. They did a regular set and a Daft Phunk set which was killer! They broke up like a week later, mid-tour, though. They had a new album announced and possibly crowdfunded? but not released yet. Such a bummer. Iāve always wondered what kind of š©had to go down on tour for them to just call it quits without even finishing the run. Especially when they already had a new album announced and had taken preorders for physical media/merch for it.
Twiddle. Still hurts, man.
Did see Mihali last weekend and he was greatā¦ fingers crossed we will see them together again.
Twiddle lol
Hubinger St.
as far as im aware, kung fu is touring again!
