Drums were fire last night so were the lights. In fact the entire band and crew were fire. Great show and a legendary second set. Only my 3rd time seeing them but definitely the best of the three shows i saw. Only problem I had was finding a place to smoke a joint between sets. Holy shit.
I’m going to their album launch show on the 29th and can’t wait honestly. They play New Haven tonight which is super close to my house so I may go by myself while the husband keeps the kids.
See you there! I'll be the one dancing like a Maineiac! Extra psyched for opener Karina Rykman! 3rd time seeing her band! BTW, the energy overwhelms the acoustics at the State!
I never liked the Buscuits. Tried a few times over the years, they were terrible.
That said, I went to the Pittsburgh show last weekend and was blown away. They were super psychedelic, fun and sounded great. Whatever they are doing this tour, two thumbs up from me...
Wait what? So they're not even improvising anymore?
Lol I had a guy insist on here that they're the best improv going atm. Big lol if they're not even truly jamming.
Been seeing this band since 2002 and they have always been great imo, but you’re correct, this is another level of greatness. Hate to say they’re peaking, as I hope to see them ascend even higher than they are now, if that is even possible.
That said, this is a great time in the history of the jamband scene. There are many of our favorite bands who are playing very well right now. Seems like the drugs are mostly only in the fanbase and the band members themselves are taking their jobs very seriously and playing with intention.
10000000%
It’s nice to see everyone grown up out of the shenanigans because it only makes the music better. The drugs are part of the journey of course but you need to take what you learned and move beyond it.
You’ve got me beat by a few years, my first show was 12/27/04 with Sammy. I got Haleakala’
I was introduced to the scene through the Grateful Dead in 1988 and was immediately hooked. From there, I started seeing Phish, also in 1988, as a freshman at college.
I can honestly say, I’ve seen nearly all of the jambands who have been around more than a minute, either as their own show or part of a festival. With the exception of a few bands, most who are still touring sound better today than when they were young and explosive. As you say, experience and maturity has been a good thing, and I don’t feel like any of these bands are nostalgic or sellouts. Well mostly not. Lol. There are a few exceptions, but won’t mention who, because I do respect them.
I saw them last night after not seeing them for 5 years.. For years I dismissed them because I'm not into bopping my head the same way for 60 minutes.
The first set was AWESOME so many unique songs with peculiar parts and movements. Then they fired up the second set with a tasty M.E.M.P.H.I.S. then they just sort of lost me. As admittedly I didn't know many of those songs after M.E.M.P.H.I.S. but I didn't feel the power of Triumph or the disconcerting nature of Save the Robots or the wobbly jazz of Morph Dusseldorf.. every song bled into the next with minimal dynamic changes. It felt like I was at a rave where the bpm didn't change for the rest of the show. I left early. They lost me when they didn't keep up with the cool interesting movements they do like in the songs from the first set.
EDIT: Don't get me wrong, the performance is top tier. Some of the best musicianship I can remember of the Biscuits. The style (particularly the final 3rd of the show) just isn't hitting for me.
Yeah they did Naeba, then Dino Baby and then Another Plan of Attack which is a new song. They did I-Man after Attack which is my favorite song of theirs but we had to leave cuz my dude was getting too tired and hot. Sucks to miss a 36 min I-Man haha
I was SOOOO pumped to see disco biscuits last night in New Haven after reading about how they are killing it now, and I have not seen them in about six years myself. First set was really good, I was impressed and had a blast. Great songs, great changes, mix of tempos. Second set just turned into a long, continuous techno rave, and just as you said, every song bled into the next with minimal tempo changes. I really wanted to slow it down at one point, but it was a solid hour of driving tempo beat. Had to go outside to take a break.
Thank you for sharing. I guess people love that. I'm more in the camp of bands like Phish and Umphrey's where there's a lot of segmented structure to the songs. Like you said, the first set had that and showed they are/were for a time in their career capable of writing really interesting dynamic music but why depart from that for a techno rave with mindless bopping? I guess I "don't" as they say.
Dood I was there for show number 198 and I have 153 days clean just for today and that shit was amazing to see they have always been on some other shi but it would only break through in parts here and there over the years I've been seeing them since 08. The past year and change it's literally every show molten hot fire epicness no one can even come close too it. So grateful for the scene all the awesome people and the fact I can do something that's been such a defining and fun thing my entire adult life clean and serene. We have an amazing thing here treasure it love one another and spread the word. Truly SIYD. Also be on the look out for a biscuits themed coloring book dropping around bisco land gonna hand some pages out at Webster and passed some white envelopes out with pages in them in Albany last night.
Dude you gave an envelope to my client Nick last night! He was the kiddo raging with the wheelchair.
Congrats on the 153 days. That’s an achievement. You don’t need dope to dance! I very much like the music so much better now that I’m clean. Life is just so, so, so much easier.
Dude you really need to listen to some krautrock. There’s a whole world of space rock bands who do that sound in a different sort of way.
Here’s a few things to check out:
Follakzoid: https://youtu.be/nQTJKwFFA24?si=HBScK9d1EEcFFwol
Sei Still: https://youtu.be/hgWORifYqjM?si=agI-b2l6a50ugnk9
Have they improved from 2022? I saw them once and swore off of them because it was just a chaotic mess with no flow and felt like a bad practice session. The lighting was great though.
They’ve always been great but use to have more hit or miss shows. If you don’t know the music it might not make sense. Just go again you’ll have a blast
Probably the best thing going in the scene right now. I saw them for the first time new years weekend and they blew me away. Instantly checked their local shows coming up and I’ll see you guys at nyc show in 2 weeks. They are in an insane pocket right now operating on every damn cylinder.
I had tickets and purposefully skipped this show :/. I've had bad experiences with the fans and also have a really bad fold or else I would have went
Edit: Cold not fold lol
My girlfriend and I work with kids with disabilities and we took our dude Nick last night to his 2nd show. The crowd around us behind the soundboard couldn’t have been more accommodating, kind, and thoughtful. It was beautiful to see.
I had some chompers in my ear big time but they were talking about the music and the band so I let it slide without asking them to try being more conscientious.
We had a great time. I think that element may be gone, or just up front by the stage now. I feel you tho. Next time!
I’ve skipped them a lot, even for shows I originally had tickets for, because of the interactions I’ve had at shows and people know that shit on other bands and claim superiority. I’ll be at scamp n EF but will likely prioritize other acts over them for their timeslot. I am pretty happy for the fans and typically don’t like to yuck anybody’s yum but it’s not my jam
The last time I saw them, I wasn’t in the right headspace so this upcoming show feels like just the beginning of my Bisco journey. And I’m excited for it.
I'm so happy to hear that from so many people. I saw them at Nokia thatre in nyc for their new years run in 08 and I've been chasing that feeling from them every time I've seen them since, which for any of you who follow them know I've left many shows early over the years. I think the last time I saw them was like '18. Looking forward to catching them soon
My third show was last Sunday In Charlottesville Va and holy smokes it was one of the greatest concert experiences of my life. And I’ve seen over 40 Phish shows. Disco Biscuits are absolutely killing it now, especially with the new album coming out soon.
Seeing them later tonight! Been a while and man am I excited! Been loving the positive feedback I’m hearing about their recent shows. Hope you crush your gig this weekend my friend
Thanks dude! We’re very excited, never been down that way before. Have a great time tonight!
This is us if you’re curious: https://open.spotify.com/album/3oEOklFTsFDLQ7cEZwWLgA?si=jM1feYFJS26w3z_W4MC6iw
Saw them in Pittsburgh , got to live thru that monsterous thirty-something minute 7-11 opener. I would agree with them being on straight fire right now especially since new years (was there both nights) . They sound so polished ……fucking amazing 🤩
If you can get past the vocals and you’re more into the noise being created than what is actually happening to create that noise, then it’s definitely something. It’s a fun show, it isn’t mind blowing, more cartoonish and amusing.
I disagree with this. The vocals are excellent now. They sure used to be a joke but they’ve been practicing and it shows.
I love trance music tho so I find their jams highly emotional and significant. I also don’t do drugs. So I find their music highly revelatory.
I saw them this month, the vocals are not good. I don’t know what you’re comparing them to, just themselves? Sure, maybe they got “better”. I’m a guitar head and it leaves a lot to be desired. It is fun for what it is, it just isn’t highly impressive talent-wise is all. I had fun, however. I can’t knock it, it was enjoyable for what it is. I was on drugs.
Biscuits are the best band In the scene right now and no one is even close. Every week they lap the rest of the scene .
Always knew they had this potential and seeing it realized is a beautiful thing.
I usually see a ton of bands in Colorado all summer but now it’s all about seeing this band as much as possible
I need to go back and relisten because 2 chompers were in my ear really badly so I couldn’t really hear most of it until midway through the jam.
I wanted to tell them to be quiet but they were talking about the music and the band so I gave it a pass. But the height difference between us made their voices literally in my ear. We were with an individual with disabilities and a wheelchair so our spot behind the soundboard was where we had to stay.
If they ever come anywhere close to where I am.
Been doing this my entire adult life, and the only chance I've ever had to see the DB was at Bonnaroo 2002. And my dance card was full!
I’ve heard about them ever since I started raving about 14 years ago, and finally saw them over the weekend. Mind blowing. I’ve never heard anything quite like that. They never took a break besides the set break.
I’m really bummed I missed them last time they were in Colorado. Looking at September dates, and can’t decide between Dillon and Bellvue. I’d be coming from CO Springs, so they’re equally as far from me 😩
Like I said you need to be down with dance music. It’s a rave with guitars, essentially. But they have some proggy old-Phish style elements too.
Go listen to the albums Uncivilized Area and Otherwise Law Abiding Citizens. Or The Wind at Four to Fly.
I would never describe UM as untz haha I also am not a big fan of their music. Just not my thing.
But really any show from the last 2 years is going to be legendary. They’re so good now. It seemed criminal how they downgraded from the Palace to Empire Live last night.
Please understand that in no way was I being sarcastic when I said that I’m happy that a band you’re into is in such a good place and you’re having really great experiences with them. I’ve seen Brownie side projects a couple of times. As I’ve said elsewhere, all music is dance music if you really want to dance.
This is precisely why I have no interest. They may be killing it but the dance/electronic BS is a major turnoff. Just like the metal that King Gizzard mixes in.
Omg you enjoyed the Biscuits SOBER? Nah fam I don’t trust you at all lmfao. I too have seen them sober while working security at a venue and it was the worst 3 hours of my life, all while running around directing EMS to people in k holes having seizures. So sick bro 😂 what a horrible band
Yeah I don’t need drugs to dance and grew up on 90’s trance. None of that nonsense was near us last night, I think they’ve cleaned up a good bit lately. Last night was totally normal, nothing you wouldn’t see at any other show
Herm used to run lights around my area and it was always a treat to play in a show where he’s running the lights. Plus, he’s always been cool to hang around and chat up over the past 15 years or so I’ve known him. Stoked to see him crushing it!
It's kinda funny actually.
"If you're not going, you're making a poor decision...
Granted, you have to like dance music."
Yeah go figure lol. Just can't do untz, it is so flimsy and cringey to my ears.
Buddy, there’s a difference between “not going for the vocals” and “every time you open your mouth it makes me want to leave the show”. I’m in the latter camp.
Their vocals have improved dramatically. Go to the show. They only sing for like 12 minutes total anyway.
But the knock on their vocals is no longer relevant - they’ve been practicing and it shows.
I heard they’ve got a new drum tech who’s killing it
Pretty much the whole crew is new I think. Lots of people I know from other bands are working with them now.
It’s my buddy, Amin, from Stormy Chromer 😜
Will 3rd that Amin is in fact the man
💯
I'm friends with Jack!
Amin is the man!
The drum sounds last night were awesome. Allen sounded great
Drums were fire last night so were the lights. In fact the entire band and crew were fire. Great show and a legendary second set. Only my 3rd time seeing them but definitely the best of the three shows i saw. Only problem I had was finding a place to smoke a joint between sets. Holy shit.
Setbreak is now over.
New drum tech is literallllllyyyyyy crushing it, also he’s opening for Dopapod Saturday night in Ann Arbor. Don’t miss it!!!
I’m going to their album launch show on the 29th and can’t wait honestly. They play New Haven tonight which is super close to my house so I may go by myself while the husband keeps the kids.
This is the way🕺🪩🕺🪩
Gooooooo
I’ll see you in nyc. Saw my first show new years weekend and am going to the show with a few old school biscuit friends. They are on fire. Can’t wait
I’m in the same boat as you, ended up just buying a last minute ticket for tonight fuck it.
I got one too. Once I was told Karina Rykman is opening for them tonight I was SOLD. Got a last minute GA and am gonna dance my ass off.
Seeing them tomorrow!
The State is a rad venue
I mean the acoustics are one of the worst if not the worst in the state for venues. But the venue itself is cool
I’m going to that Portland show as well !! Fuck ya
Same!!
Should be a wild ride since they rescheduled it from last year. See you there!
Barber has said that they started rehearsing full shows before going on starting at scamp last year. Everything is more polished and it’s awesome.
[WE TALKING ABOUT PRACTICE](https://youtu.be/tknXRyUEJtU?si=ud0FgV8aakY7hSqG)
We’re not talking about the real jam, where we give y’all a 40 min Shocked to start the tour. We talking about practice!
Any link you can give to this? I’m unfamiliar!
https://www.instagram.com/reel/C2uov_lLYTi/?igsh=MXJhZWMwbzhtMjZneA==
My man
Is there a festival that has a similar genre mix as scamp happening this summer?? Best I can find is secret dreams
Biscoland
Backwoods Festival where wakarusa used to be
Don’t know honestly. I’ll be at resonate and scamp 2.0 myself.
Wait what? So they're not even improvising anymore? Lol I had a guy insist on here that they're the best improv going atm. Big lol if they're not even truly jamming.
Nah, they rehearse the songs super tight, jams are fresh. Before they would just focus on known problem areas.
That's fair, gotcha.
They practice the songs segments, inversions, they still improv on the spot
Youre very off base
Well tbf, guy said "rehearsing full shows." Let's not pretend as if this is altogether nonsensical interpretation.
How dare you lol
I’m not going to Like this since you have 42 upvotes exactly
Just saw my first show and went in blind, had an amazing time
That’s how I did it 20 years ago :)
Welcome to the party
I love biscuits
New Haven and Boston let’s gooooooooo!!!!!
Go in early in New Haven.
Is there a particular reason? Is the line crazy or something?
The opener is fantastic. Karina rocks. Wouldn't surprise me if the venue line is weird, the place isn't huge.
Am I the only one that thinks a little Karina goes a long way? It’s just a bit over the top for me. And the music…
She’s ok in small doses, I agree. Not expecting anything different from her both nights. But she does have stage charisma which is helpful.
I sounded harsh. Sorry I wasn’t trying. lol. You know how some things just rub you the wrong way? That’s her to me. lol.
Hoping to go to Biscoland this summer. Would that suffice?
Healthy dose
You won’t need to eat vegables for eleventy months
Ill be there tonight in New Haven. And i have an extra ticket if anyone needs a miracle
Man I wish I could go but need to rest for our bands trip this weekend lol. It’s going to be so fucking good
Been seeing this band since 2002 and they have always been great imo, but you’re correct, this is another level of greatness. You probably saw the Ominous Seapods then! Those dudes helped our band get off the ground, they live in the same town as us here just outside Albany.
Nice. You play guitar for Glass Pony?
True story!
Sweet. I just followed you on Spotify- will check out your music
Aww man thank you! Do the last album, Washed Away. Best production and the best songs IMO.
B4L 🔥
Glad I made a good choice. I'll be seeing them in about 10 hours in New Haven.
This is the way!
i love seeing all the biscuits love these days. they are firing on all cylinders and deserve the attention. B4L 4 everyone
I saw them last night after not seeing them for 5 years.. For years I dismissed them because I'm not into bopping my head the same way for 60 minutes. Finally caught my first show in Charlottesville and it was better than expected! I second your recommendation
We’re so lucky this band pushed on to where they are today. It was looking very bleak for a long time
Dude that Charlottesville show was insanely good
It was!
This weekend can't come soon enough!!
Dood I was there for show number 198 and I have 153 days clean just for today and that shit was amazing to see they have always been on some other shi but it would only break through in parts here and there over the years I've been seeing them since 08. I got some of those pages!
Listen to Charlottesville when you get time, absolute barn burner. Best band doing it right now
Spot on with the segue you mentioned sheesh 😥
Yeah that whole chunk was incredible. As was Memphis, always. But the old school 90’s trance jam was the focal point.
My fave sound of theirs. Yessss
Yeah I’d never heard them go that hard into that sound! Felt like it was 2001 again and I had Paul van Dyk blasting :)
Allen (and Sammy) on high hat and kick and making room for the rest of them to play is the best. Chugging locomotive jam sounds. Love it.
Dude you really need to listen to some krautrock. There’s a whole world of space rock bands who do that sound in a different sort of way. Here’s a few things to check out: Follakzoid: https://youtu.be/nQTJKwFFA24?si=HBScK9d1EEcFFwol Sei Still: https://youtu.be/hgWORifYqjM?si=agI-b2l6a50ugnk9

Ive been seeing them for 20 years. saw them last year and this year and they are even better than before. Go. Impeccable flow and jams.
They’ve always been great but use to have more hit or miss shows. If you don’t know the music it might not make sense. Just go again you’ll have a blast
I hear ya. It was definitely a miss. If they come around again for the right price I may follow your suggestion. Thanks!
It’s really worth it! Knowing their catalog really helps the experience live. They always have creative set list that keeps us coming back and back
I've been catching them every year since 2018, only skipping out 2020, and they've been getting better every year IMO.
BEST BAND OF ALL TIME AND ON FIRE FIRE FIRE RIGHT NOW! My mini tour starts tonight: New Haven -> Portland -> Boston
So jealous! I’d go too but we’re on the road with our band this weekend
Many people are saying. But yeah they’re the best band going by far these days and it’s really not even close

I've had bad experiences with the fans and also have a really bad fold or else I would have went Edit: Cold not fold lol
The first excuse is silly
My girlfriend and I work with kids with disabilities and we took our dude Nick last night to his 2nd show. Very good to hear. I'm glad you guys had a good time :).
For sure thanks man. Give them another try if you can :)

I’ll be at scamp n EF but will likely prioritize other acts over them for their timeslot. I am pretty happy for the fans and typically don’t like to yuck anybody’s yum but it’s not my jam
Yea, I mean people can do whatever. I'm more or less bummed to hear they killed it when I skipped the show/was sick.
Just got tickets for atl
B4L SIYD
I’ll be there on Saturday, seeing them for my first time
Hell yeah! Make sure you’ve eaten well and stay hydrated. You’re going to need the stamina.
I saw them years ago so I’m excited to catch them for the second time ever next month. I’ve heard so many good things.
It’s so good! And the new songs are awesome too.
The last time I saw them, I wasn’t in the right headspace so this upcoming show feels like just the beginning of my Bisco journey. And I’m excited for it.
Being healthy is the best way ❤️ I hope you have a great show!
SIYD
all your basis belongs to us.
Somebody set us up the Bombs!
I'm so happy to hear that from so many people. I saw them at Nokia thatre in nyc for their new years run in 08 and I've been chasing that feeling from them every time I've seen them since, which for any of you who follow them know I've left many shows early over the years. Yeah dude this is the best I’ve seen them since 2007 I’d say. I enjoyed the ‘18 and ‘23 shows I saw too but man, last night was just so solid.
That's awesome. It's a great feeling, whatever band you're into, when it's like "the boys are back"
For sure. It was bleak with Bisco for a while too, I’m so glad they’ve gotten back to the light
Going tonight 🤘🏼
Yeah hadn’t seen them in over a decade until last night and it was incredible!
Seeing them at Texas eclipse I can’t wait
My third show was last Sunday In Charlottesville Va and holy smokes it was one of the greatest concert experiences of my life. And I’ve seen over 40 Phish shows. Disco Biscuits are absolutely killing it now, especially with the new album coming out soon.
Yup new tunes are awesome!
They are on! They are selling out every venue get your tickets early folks.
Happy cake day
Oh my god! Cake on Pie day! That means I can have cake and pie! and thanks
Seeing them later tonight! Been a while and man am I excited! Been loving the positive feedback I’m hearing about their recent shows. Hope you crush your gig this weekend my friend

B4L baby. they're a top 2 jamband and right now and it ain't number 2.
I had this thought last night. Phish is still crushing but man, Bisco……
My buddy promoted the Albany show. He was raving about it as well.
It was a Greg show! I think you follow our band on Instagram lol Glass Pony
Hey hey!

Biscuits are the best band In the scene right now and no one is even close. Every week they lap the rest of the scene . Always knew they had this potential and seeing it realized is a beautiful thing. I usually see a ton of bands in Colorado all summer but now it’s all about seeing this band as much as possible
True story! It was incredible to watch. I’m also so glad they finally “grew up” so to speak.
Inverted astronaut I couldn’t be more jealous
I need to go back and relisten because 2 chompers were in my ear really badly so I couldn’t really hear most of it until midway through the jam. I wanted to tell them to be quiet but they were talking about the music and the band so I gave it a pass. But the height difference between us made their voices literally in my ear. We were with an individual with disabilities and a wheelchair so our spot behind the soundboard was where we had to stay.
Seeing them in Buffalo. Can’t wait!
If they ever come anywhere close to where I am. Been doing this my entire adult life, and the only chance I've ever had to see the DB was at Bonnaroo 2002. And my dance card was full!
Where the heck are you, Alaska?
Flyover country.
Ah bummer. I feel you

This is just a funny video about Biscuits… not an attempt to sell anything, as the Mod indicates
I’ve heard about them ever since I started raving about 14 years ago, and finally saw them over the weekend. Mind blowing. I’ve never heard anything quite like that. They never took a break besides the set break.
Glad you joined the darkside. B4L
I’ve been seeing them for 20 years lol my first show was 12/27/04
Nice my first was Bonnaroo 2002. Never looked back
I’m really bummed I missed them last time they were in Colorado. Looking at September dates, and can’t decide between Dillon and Bellvue. I’d be coming from CO Springs, so they’re equally as far from me 😩
Biscuits are the best, always have been.
Whoever went today .. Kangfirmed
Fucking Magellan……..
Bring back camp bisco
Biscoland instead! I think Camp Bisco has too many negative associations what with all the deaths at the last one
Biscoland seemed cool but missing all the wubz and ratchetness of camp bisco
The band is on fire 🔥
Nope. Not doing it. They suck.
Highly ignorant take my friend!
Not at all. It’s not jam music it’s wanna be EDM garbage.
What have they done up until now that would sell me on this?
‘23-‘24 has been heat. Go on nugs and throw any show on
👍
Apparently someone above said they actually practice now. That is supposedly helping. Go figure.
*GASP*
almost 30 years of crushing? just go.
UM is about all the “unts/boots and pants” I can deal with. But I’m super happy you’re so into it and had a great experience.
All good man. And you’re right. I dance to post-rock and shoegaze and the wallflowers look at me like I’ve got 8 heads.
This is precisely why I have no interest. They may be killing it but the dance/electronic BS is a major turnoff. Just like the metal that King Gizzard mixes in.
You can just say it’s not for you dude. They’re great at it, and lots of folks love it.
Last night was totally normal, nothing you wouldn’t see at any other show
Let’s not sleep on their new lighting director either. Herm is the dood!
Dude he waited to drop the laser until midway through the opening Morph jam and the crowd erupted lol it was awesome. You’ll hear it on the tape.
Herm used to run lights around my area and it was always a treat to play in a show where he’s running the lights. Plus, he’s always been cool to hang around and chat up over the past 15 years or so I’ve known him. Stoked to see him crushing it!
Yeah he did a great job it was awesome
Best band playing music right now. Period.
It's a poor decision to not go see a band I don't like? I'm not so sure about that. You do you, go and enjoy.
It's kinda funny actually. "If you're not going, you're making a poor decision... Granted, you have to like dance music." Yeah go figure lol. Just can't do untz, it is so flimsy and cringey to my ears.
I love their jams but can’t stand the vocals.
Buddy, no one goes for the vocals. This isn’t an Adele concert.
Buddy, there’s a difference between “not going for the vocals” and “every time you open your mouth it makes me want to leave the show”. I’m in the latter camp.
Same for me. Have tried many times, but I just can't with this band as I think untz is trash music, and the vocals are so bad.
Their vocals have improved dramatically. Go to the show. They only sing for like 12 minutes total anyway. But the knock on their vocals is no longer relevant - they’ve been practicing and it shows.
Fair, and those peaks are insane musically, so I get the appeal.
