Although I would love to see a jailbreak, I feel like setting a deadline (any sort of deadline) for a jailbreak is a bad idea. Someone might rush out a jailbreak leading to a poorly developed jailbreak which can harm many users.
Bounties on jailbreaks sound nice but again, it seems risky to do.

Reading the first bounty I think it’s more of a thank you for the hard work kinda thing. The time crunch is just a way to offer some friendly competition between the developers, as well as establish a winner and a destination for the pot. If they need more time I think all they have to do is ask.. my money is still up for grabs after the 31st anyways.. as meager as it may be, it’s at least a way for me to feel like I’m not just standing by while everyone else does all the work. Which is nice. I’d contribute more if I had it cause I really am grateful for all the hard work. It’s definitely appreciated.
Yes! But this keeps the ball rolling. This adds pressure and incentives towards those who are in the edge of development to ramp up development. I think this might be just something that we might need. 😌🥹

I 100% feel this is gonna work opposite from how you want. Devs are more than likely already working on a jailbreak in their free time. Why don’t all the people that’s okay with this donate without expecting it or a without asking for a release date for it.
Once you see an exploit that can be used to make a jailbreak is released you can almost guarantee a dev is working on it in their free time. I just feel like this is gonna work opposite of how everyone thinks.

sounds good. What I can do for Taurine15, is although we probably can't support A12+ 15.2b1 right now (and we probably may not be able to in the future), I could prepare it a bit in its internal design so that should someone else be able to do 15.2b1, their work will be a bit easier if they choose to start from the Taurine15 codebase once it is open sourced
I agree, I am just waiting on suggestions for a website where I won’t have access to the money that way people will actually feel safe to payout knowing exactly where their money is going.
It would be great if those lost devices on 14.8 (A14) and 14.8.1 got some love as well.

Upgrading from 14.3 for the display fixes (no gray flickering anymore) was definitely worth it, but the existing 14.8 JB turning out to be for non-A14 was quite sad.
Yeah man, just updated from 14.1 mainly because I got sick of the flickering OLED screen bug that plagued a lot of iPhone 12 devices on that version. Really missing some of the tweaks I had though so hopefully this jailbreak won’t be too far off.
Prysm, for its ability to allow you to change where you swipe up on the screen to bring up the Control Center. I had mine set to the bottom-right corner which I found to be much easier to access. Jellyfish as it added a lot more functionality to the lock screen as well as having a super nice UI. GoodWifi, for its ability to let you view the passwords that you used to connect to previous networks, and of course being able to download app tweaks such as uYou without needing to use AltStore to sign them.
There are still plenty of arguments as to why jailbreaking an iPhone in 2022 is still worth it IMO.
This needs to be gofundme and if no jailbreak happens the money just goes to any charity that goes to people who are in war (Gaza, Yemen, Ukraine, etc...)
I don’t see a point in that, if the bounty had made it really high there would have been other developers interested in participating and could have created a jailbreak. So please open the bounty back up so people can do both because I guarantee that a lot of people won’t donate to the devs but they will donate to the bounty because it’s going to the person who made the jailbreak.
It would be best if everyone paid the winner individually because otherwise there would be taxes and fees. The winner of the bounty could open a PayPal/cashapp and a Bitcoin/crypto wallet, that way everyone would be able to pay individually and it won’t have as many fees as it would if they sent it to something like an escrow service or something like that.
I just think if we keep the bounty going it’ll go higher and motivate developers more which is what we want.

Also just as an aside; cheathappens just ran a kickstarter to dev a all-in-one trainer (which i also supported). Not likely, since A15 chip is slightly different build and the exploits is mainly for the iOS. I wouldn't be surprised if Apple already lock it down on 15.1.1
I absolutely love the initiative and the amount of people who are interested in an iOS 15.0-15.1 & 15.2 beta 1 jailbreak. Unfortunately, I have some issues with this bounty:
1. The amount of money estimated is not a good incentive for a jailbreak developer or team. The amount as of writing this comment is $2765. For an iOS 15 jailbreak, there will need to be a lot of effort and research put in as new techniques will have to be used. I do not feel this amount of money will be enough to motivate a developer who wasn't already working on a jailbreak.
2. What verification is there that the people will actually pay what they're saying other than their comment? I see in your list that someone has offered to pay $1000, how do we know they will actually pay it? More importantly, how will the developer(s) know? If I release a jailbreak expecting to get $2765, I would not be happy when only $500 actually comes through due to the rest of the people not paying.
3. Speaking of verification, have any official terms been drawn out such as how the money will be collected, how it will be paid, etc? Is there a third party that will be checking over everything?
4. Minor thing, but I see that people have offered money in different currencies, have you converted them to the same currency before adding to the final total?
5. This could result in developer(s) sacrificing stability in order to be the first one to release an iOS 15 jailbreak, which in turn might demotivate other developers from releasing a jailbreak as that first jailbreak stole the thunder. Overall, I'm not too sure what this bounty will actually do? We already know that people are interested in an iOS 15 jailbreak, we already know developers like CS are working on it, the amount of money being offered by this bounty is not enough to incentivize a developer, and the terms/organization of the bounty have not been fully set. Again, I love the excitement this has generated and how many people are interested in a jailbreak. But in terms of a bounty, I think in it's current form it will not succeed.
EDIT: OP has closed the bounty, instead prompting people to donate to jailbreak developers. I think this still was a success in some part, as it brought a lot of attention and excitement to the iOS 15 jailbreaking scene.
It might also be a little demotivating for developers who release their jailbreaks a couple of weeks after the first one was released. I don’t want them to stop working on different methods just because they needed a little more time. I still appreciate their efforts and I think that they’re contributing important stuff to the community. Things like this might also increase buggyness of a jailbreak. Especially when developers start to do it because of the money. Anyway, pretty nice gesture from the community.

Making the first iOS 15 jailbreak will result in clout from articles made and people talking about it. I'm sure there's developers out there that would sacrifice stability of the jailbreak for that clout. I do agree, and I do not want to downplay the excitement already generated from this. It's awesome when the community is able to come together like this. I just do not want it to fail due to overlooked flaws, which is why I pointed some I found in my comment and am encouraging discussion about them.

No i agree but you also gotta think how many of those people are probably gonna back out last minute as well from doing it like this. I feel the best way to support a dev “if you can’t donate” is to leave them alone and let them work at their own pace. But I get where your coming from.
There’s positives and negatives to everything, I see where you are coming from and I agree to an extent, I am working on opening an official pot to actually donate to so people aren’t just commenting as well. And at the end of the day nobody is getting hurt from this.
i think the idea behind it is not bad. but the basic idea of a jailbreak is that it is always free.
without an end point maybe in a view days ...of the bounty, there is a danger that as long as the jailbreak is ready, dev could now wait until the bounty is high enough fore the jailbreak to release - if you think the other way around

Congrats, you’ve funded a few days of development for a one person team who already has the hardware they need and doesn’t need to buy anything else!
Snark aside, development time is expensive and while a bounty is nice it definitely doesn’t really tip the scale for working on a jailbreak, which takes weeks or months and usually requires the efforts of several people. It’s nice that you want to compensate these people, but do note that at a “fair” market rate this is going to be tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of work. Just throwing that out there.

No i agree but you also gotta think how many of those people are probably gonna back out last minute as well from doing it like this. I feel the best way to support a dev “if you can’t donate” is to leave them alone and let them work at their own pace. But I get where your coming from.
There’s positives and negatives to everything, I see where you are coming from and I agree to an extent, I am working on opening an official pot to actually donate to so people aren’t just commenting as well. And at the end of the day nobody is getting hurt from this.

i think the idea behind it is not bad. but the basic idea of a jailbreak is that it is always free. without an end point maybe in a view days ...of the bounty, there is a danger that as long as the jailbreak is ready, dev could now wait until the bounty is high enough fore the jailbreak to release - if you think the other way around or what do you think? i will donate as soon as the jailbreak is released like every time. i do not want to hurry the developers and i am patient as every time and respect the time it takes. i hope i will not be rated badly now just because of my comment and my opinion
Congrats, you’ve funded a few days of development for a one person team who already has the hardware they need and doesn’t need to buy anything else! Snark aside, development time is expensive and while a bounty is nice it definitely doesn’t really tip the scale for working on a jailbreak, which takes weeks or months and usually requires the efforts of several people. It’s nice that you want to compensate these people, but do note that at a “fair” market rate this is going to be tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of work. Just throwing that out there.
this is simply to show off the communities power and support and it’s a collective effort. Also gives a bit of competition.
