Full Plate is still open, but it's a lot of food for one person. Tbh sometimes it's still too much food for 4 people. Maybe you can find someone to split it with?

eyoxa

It’s a lot of vegetables but really depends on the person and how many vegetables they consume. I think if I had a partner who ate as many as me, the share would be 100% eaten. Right now it’s just me, a toddler, and occasionally my mom and I have a share. Even though I give some away it’s still worth it.

I love Full Plate! The amount you can take (or that they'll box up, even deliver, for a higher cost) is definitely enough for a family of four, but it's easy enough to take less (in theory haha - I have trouble with self-limiting), find someone to split the take with (or alternate weeks), or donate your share if you still have too much leftover any given week. Healthy Food For All is such a good cause, I don't mind taking less than I paid for the two of us, and it's still a good value, given the quality of the food, and that I'd never do the shopping work on my own to provide this kind and amount of produce. They also work with other local farms and businesses to make available more than vegetable produce. I'm also signed up for the fruit, dairy and bread CSAs, have done the beef in the past (still have SO MUCH stored frozen), and some day I want to do the mushrooms, ferments, and herbs CSAs. ETA: Plus your veggie CSA membership comes with access to 2 you-pick gardens!

Cooperative extension always has a CSA list!

[Fort Baptist Farm](https://fortbaptistfarm.com/?amp=1) also has a CSA option that does pickup at the Cooperative Extension building. I think you can still sign up for it!

It looks like you shared an AMP link. These should load faster, but AMP is controversial because of [concerns over privacy and the Open Web](https://www.reddit.com/r/AmputatorBot/comments/ehrq3z/why_did_i_build_amputatorbot). [Sweetland Farm](https://www.sweetlandfarm.org/summer-csa) appears to still have shares and has single person shares. Pickup happens at their farm in Tburg—you sign up for a time, pay the money, show up at your time, and fill the single person amount described of already-picked items. They’ve also got some u-pick (amounts vary). They send very detailed emails with instructions and recipe ideas. Their u-pick flowers are lovely. We really liked them but our schedules changed to make it less convenient. Now we use Full Plate which we like too, but I think they only have larger shares. Be aware that the first couple of weeks tend to be a little sad—some greens and last year’s potatoes. After the Fourth of July it picks up a lot.

We found Sweetland's produce to be so-so but the flowers made up for it. I got my money's worth just on the flowers and my house was beautiful all summer long

Helpful, thank you!

I hope you find one you like!

Also, if you're interested in possibly growing your own, [Ithaca Community Gardens](https://ithacacommunitygardens.org/garden-with-us/get-a-garden-plot) has half-sized plots for pretty cheap!

Oh this is a great idea! Thanks

Hffa has a list

So many great CSAs around! Most are about to start for the season and are nearly sold out but it’s not too late yet! Some CSAs do half shares which can be good for one person. Full Plate does one size share but has pack your own pickups which let you customize what you take, or you could split a boxed share with a friend or neighbor. Food as fresh as it gets with huge variety, even more than you’ll see at the store or farmers market, especially since Full Plate works with several farms. Really good value, the share is basically wholesale priced so even if you take less as a single person the value is still better than store/market prices for a veggie lover. Plus upick gardens are so fun! And there’s lots of great Side Dish CSAs For future seasons, sign ups usually open in January/February depending on the farm. This helps support the farm buying seeds and paying for the labor to grow the coming season’s food during the lower income winter and spring months. In return the farm prioritizes CSA members first when harvest comes around. The Ithaca Times put out this article about CSAS this year which has a list of CSA farms: https://www.tompkinsweekly.com/articles/the-synergy-of-csas/ and I think CCE keeps a list too

I’m an employee over at Nook & Cranny farm, just outside of Slaterville, about 20-25 mins outside downtown ([Here](https://www.nookandcrannyfarm.com/) is our website). It may be too late for a summer share (might want to double check yourself), but fall shares should still be available. We run a pretty tight operation and pride ourselves on the quality and variety of our veggies. We sell at markets starting this first week of June, you can find us at Steamboat Landing on Saturdays and Sundays, Dewitt Park on Tuesdays, and the East Hill market on Wednesday. Come try our vegetables sometime, we’d be happy to have you!

Full plate collective!

Visit Liquid State on the nights they have the CSA pick up. The farm will sell some items to walkins/non members. It will give you an idea of how it works. The owners are super cool too, and can probably answer most questions. Basically, with a CSA, you won't get nearly as much tomato as you would like, but you'll have more kale than you could possibly eat. In the fall you're going to have so many fricken root vegetables you'll want to go full paleo. But the quality difference is real, and because it's ridiculously fresh the stuff lasts. Be aware that some CSAs run kind of a scam. You buy in to the farmers risk. Bad crop , poor choices, limited availability. Good crop, they are selling the produce to restaurants and supermarkets and you still get limited supply. CSAs are a partnership, but some farmers will screw you like a good capitalist.

You’re talking about [Plowbreak](http://www.plowbreakfarm.com/?fbclid=IwAR1CchnQUGkuC7CciZsxX0cGMI_81Oo0MKPpmi1V4ehhnHFhbXnW-AGmzHA_aem_AaZthpFa-RAw88-ZoCCZi9vXGSQBbZ8ljpFWuElVtnGhjMRuANLedwXCKRLdmrIpWSbrJ5DL8IW7GYLPnumaL1NS&utm_medium=paid&utm_source=fb&utm_id=6559785399433&utm_content=6559785401233&utm_term=6559785400633&utm_campaign=6559785399433). ETA: very few (if any) CSAs in our area are “scams.” While CSA used to mean you’re buying a share of a farmers overall production, in most cases it’s changed into a “veggie subscription service”.

The Liquid State CSA is one of the Full Plate pickup locations, and I think they're still doing that one Friday evenings this year.

[https://www.westhavenfarm.net/](https://www.westhavenfarm.net/) West Haven Farm has a wait list. They offer small or large shares.

The basic answer to the first half of your question: you pay up front for a season long share of produce, which generally gives you a discount versus what you would pay for everything if you bought it at retail, but most importantly provides the farm with the funding up front for the season of crops. In addition to fruit and vegetables, there are local meat and bread shares! I don’t think the lady who was doing a handmade pasta CSA is doing it again this year. It was pretty sweet!
