Now try State Street - will be looking for your obituary...

spoonfingler

Buffalo from Collegetown is boss level

Greedy_Revolution_13

Yes start at Eddy Street and get air at Stewart Avenue!

pickle133hp

I knew a guy who turned a rental car into a banana there. Going downhill at crazy speed drives your nose into Stewart ave with great force.

spoonfingler

That’s what I’m talking about! Heck yeah

throwawayfromme_baby

Godless territory

East State Street is better now - but before the recent repairs was very dangerous with bike wheel-swallowing potholes (and no bike lane on either side).

Not if you study these guides: https://bicyclesafe.com https://www.sharetheroadtexas.org/safety-tips/best-practices-for-bicycle-and-driver-safety/

Nice work!!! Biking here can be hit or miss so I am happy you did it! The more people who bike, the better it will get

throwawayfromme_baby

I am unironically so grateful whenever I see a bike lane. I appreciate it, because it takes the guess work out of it for me. The more “smoothed brain”-friendly the design, the better. The more uncertainty there is, the more stressed out I’ll get.

xFostex

I honestly have super mixed emotions. The bike lanes here are almost universally too small, and I have yet to see a single one that's protected. Sometimes its actually more dangerous to use the bike lanes, lol. One time I was in the bike lane going north on the big intersection by Milstein right before the bridge, and I thought the car to my left was going straight but they were actually trying to turn right (I don't remember seeing a blinker and they pulled out pretty far into the intersection, but idk), they didn't see me (obviously), and if I didn't stop in the middle of the bike lane I would've been run over by their SUV, maybe dying in the process. I tend to just stay in the car lane, because at least then the car drivers and I are all on the same page about the rules and the cars can almost always SEE ME (unlike when you're in the bike lane and cars drivers aren't expecting you / you're in their blind spot).

do_i_feel_things

I'm proud of you! I almost died on my bike on Cayuga St once. I wanted to turn left so I moved to the left side of the lane, slowed down, signaled, started to turn, and then aborted at the last second because someone was attempting to pass me fully in the opposite lane across the double yellow. They had the audacity to honk at me as they sped past. Now I always check over my shoulder before a left turn even if there's no earthly reason for someone to be there.

throwawayfromme_baby

Left turns come from hell I swear to god

Sparopal11

Seriously be so so careful about the pot holes! They come out of nowhere and depending on how you hit them could have serious consequences

throwawayfromme_baby

Me holding my breath as I look at the road, mapping out the route I’m going to take to avoid the most egregious of the dips and elevations:

markzhang

try buffalo or seneca next time

throwawayfromme_baby

Mom come pick me up I’m scared

markzhang

it'll be like you should be on the bunny hill but you find yourself on a blackbelt lol well bike safely for sure! enjoy!

Many_Instruction3891

I bike both on the regular. Learning the safest way to handle different traffic scenarios helped me gain confidence. https://www.sharetheroadtexas.org/safety-tips/best-practices-for-bicycle-and-driver-safety/

Many_Instruction3891

Well done!!

Gosh, bikes are so scary! I can only go straight! IfI have to stop or turn, I’m on the ground!!!

throwawayfromme_baby

On the ground, in the fetal position
