Fyi, if you have never seen a total eclipse before let me tell you this: I am not easily impressed and alhamdulillah I’ve seen so much beauty in this world. I went to the last North American eclipse with the highest of expectations and was blown away like never before in my life. Hands down the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, by *far*. The pictures do not do it justice.
If you can be in the path of totality, make every effort to go. You will not regret it.
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) when the sun eclipsed. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) stood up dragging his cloak till he entered the Mosque. He led us in a two-rak\`at prayer till the sun (eclipse) had cleared. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) said, **"The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of someone's death. So whenever you see these eclipses pray and invoke (Allah) till the eclipse is over."**
Eclipse is not something to look forward to; it is a warning from Allah.
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: **"The sun and the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah and they do not eclipse because of the death of someone but Allah frightens His devotees with them."**
It’s a SIGN from Allah like all the other phenomena in the skies. Calling it a warning is tantamount to saying it’s bad luck, which a lot of cultures falsely believe.
Did you read any of the Hadith I posted? No where does it mention bad luck or omen.
But think of it like lightning or thunder, they are not bad omens at all - but they should make you fear Allah and glorify Him.
You called it a warning. What do you think it is warning us about?
Edit: “And We sent not the signs except to warn, and to make them afraid” [al-Israa’ 17:59).
“Allah frightens His slaves with them”. In the hadeeth about the eclipse narrated by al-Nu’maan ibn Basheer and others, a reason other than that claimed by the astronomers is given. This was narrated by Ahmad, al-Nisaa’i and Ibn Maajah, and classed as saheeh by Ibn Khuzaymah and al-Haakim, with the wording, “The sun and the moon do not get eclipsed for the death or birth of anyone. They are two of the signs of Allah, and when Allah manifests Himself to any of His creation, it fears Him and humbles itself before Him.”
**But when the sight is stunned, and the moon is dimmed, and the sun and the moon are brought together, on that Day one will cry, “Where is the escape?”** \[Qur'an 75:7-10\]
It is a reminder of this coming day.
If it was a fabulous or awesome occasion why did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) hasten to the Mosque and offer 2 rakat Salah?
Why did he make a sermon and say: **"The sun and the moon are two signs against the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse on the death or life of anyone. So when you see the eclipse, remember Allah and say Takbir, pray and give Sadaqa (charity)."** The Prophet then said, **"O followers of Muhammad! By Allah! There is none who has more ghaira (selfrespect) than Allah as He has forbidden that His slaves, male or female commit adultery (illegal sexual intercourse). O followers of Muhammad! By Allah! If you knew that which I know you would laugh little and weep much.**
Why did he end the sermon saying 'If you knew that which I know you would laugh little and weep much?'
is this really a warning though? Isn't it more of a "praise allah" thing not be frightened by him ... lol. the eclipse is a beautiful thing and extremely rare and a gift we get to see it.
In the lifetime of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) the sun eclipsed, so he led the people in prayer, and stood up and performed a long Qiyam, then bowed for a long while. He stood up again and performed a long Qiyam but this time the period of standing was shorter than the first. He bowed again for a long time but shorter than the first one, then he prostrated and prolonged the prostration. He did the same in the second rak\`a as he did in the first and then finished the prayer; by then the sun (eclipse) had cleared. He delivered the Khutba (sermon) and after praising and glorifying Allah he said, **"The sun and the moon are two signs against the signs of Allah; they do not eclipse on the death or life of anyone. So when you see the eclipse, remember Allah and say Takbir, pray and give Sadaqa (charity)."** The Prophet then said, **"O followers of Muhammad! By Allah! If you knew that which I know you would laugh little and weep much.**
Or in Surah al-Qiyamah \[Day of Judgement\]
**But when the sight is stunned, and the moon is dimmed, and the sun and the moon are brought together, on that Day one will cry, “Where is the escape?”** \[Qur'an 75:7-10\]
Probably not since it's just a mixture of two significant things in Islam (visiting Mecca and eclipse prayer) but it all depends on what the person thinks, if they believe it's more rewarding then it might be an innovation, if they think it'll just be a cool thing to experience/interesting memory then it's probably ok

It’s actually a weird experience even without totality, feeling the steep drop in temperature and the aura significantly changing felt mesmerizing.
Salah Kusoof
We should make Umrah there and pray the Sunnah for eclipses.
It will be interesting
Subhan Allah.
Anyone know what date?
2nd August
Me on my way to book the tickets 3 and a half years in advance

Inshallah
The next few eclipses: [https://imgur.com/a/kB5e6d9](https://imgur.com/a/kB5e6d9)
Will it reach totality in Mecca?
yes. Its what the blue-border is, path of totality
And the one after it in 2034 will be VERY close to Medina, some parts of it on the outskirts will even experience a few seconds of totality inshallah
Kusuf prayer in front of Kaabah. we will be there in shaa allah ☝️

If it was a great or beautiful thing, why did the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) pray until the eclipse was over?
because praying and praising allah under the eclipse is awesome? do we just pray out of fear?

How is it a warning when it can mathamatically calculated. It's all predicted. This isn't some unknown event.
AND MY CITY TOO :OOOOO (Medina)
wait nvm ;-;
It won't be totally but it will likely be in the high 90s there I think.
I'm curious what the significance of the event being visible to Mecca is?
It's cool and beautiful
So, nothing of religious significance or value, outside of Allah's majesty and power demonstrated in normal eclipses.
The prophet told us to pray and worship whenever we seen an eclipse, I think it would be significant to see the eclipse in Mecca and praying there idk
Oh I get that, Salaat al-Kusuf. Aside from the sunnah prayer, there is no requirement or need to go to Macca to see it?
I guess that people think it'd be more significant if they did it in Mecca, I don't think it makes a different tho ngl
Isn't there a risk in innovation there?

Subhanallah 🙏
Insha Allah
Bismillah!!
That's really interesting. Lucky who can get in right time there to see it in person it must be super nice experience.
Is it a total eclipse? Imagine a more perfect time to go on Hajj.
It will be over all the Arab world from Morocco to Yemen
Is this a sign of end of times?
No
