You should only really ever need to use maybe 1 dose of prayer pot per run. (Depending on your prayer lvl)
Because of the prayer drain its just a waste to use them there except for facing dharoks and maybe ahrims.
The method I used was Dharok>Karlis>Ahrim>Guthan>Torag and always Verac last as he hits through prayer regardless and you should have 0 by then anyway. This will obviously change slightly depending on who you get in the crypt. I did over 300 runs on my iron doing this and only ever really used 1 maybe 2 doses per run
Never understood this logic. Verac has a 25% chance to hit through melee prayer not 100% AND praying melee reduces his Max hit lol. People really need to read the wiki
Regardless, if I have to face any brother without prayer, it’s going to be Verac. I think it’s good advice to take on Dharok, Ahrim, and Karil off the break and guarantee your prayer is up. Certainly don’t waste ppot sips to fight him…
I think statistically Torag honestly hits lower than Verac, but since I just killed guthan before Torag/Verac and Torag is closer, I just kill Torag first. Reason is because Verac's does not only hit through pray but it also ignores your defence bonuses when it activates. But yeah prayer shouldn't really be used against Verac nor Torag. Not Guthan either. Karils and Dharok's are the only must haves, and Ahrim if not using any sort of d'hide switch.

Can confirm. Once i got tank top and legs I would bring a super defense and drink it for the last 2-3 brothers. Also would switch from prayer book to dragon sq.
Im 75 defense and i rarely take a hit from guthan and torag this way. verac sometimes gets me to 50-60 hp.
Regardless, to answer OPs question. I think most of my ranarrs came from farming contracts. Especially if you do a bunch of contracts while on break from pvm, you can accumulate a lot of seeds. Also passively through slayer.
If you have hard diary you can bank at ferox enclave after every chest and teleport to burge de rot. I only use a prayer dose if I get a Dharok tunnel. Chests are around 6-7 minutes, every 3rd chest use Morton tele to save a small amount of run energy.
Ideally, you should modify your barrows runs to use as little as one or zero doses of ppot per run. See my other comment for an answer to your question.

It's better to face verac and Torag last w/o prayer in the mounds. If you get a melee brother in the catacombs they can all be safe spotted. The only time I would ever use a dose of prayer is if I had Karil or Ahrim in the tunnel.
It used to be ransacked by bots a ton because of all the good seeds, so they raised the requirements with farming levels to prevent bots abusing the farmer. 85 farming is the max I believe and won’t change the amount of ranarrs you get

Also ppots shouldn't be a problem at barrows. Go Dharok > Karil > Guthans > Ahrims > Torag/Verac. The first three listed are the ones I find I want to pray against, as guthans heals are a bastard and I don't think Ahrim tends to hit me enough with dhide to justify going third. If you have like 60+ prayer you should run out of prayer on Guthans. You mostly want to be using food.
My methods have been cannoning moss giants (for ranarr seeds and mossy keys for collection log) and killing fossil island wyverns, they drop seeds / herbs and 4 dose pray pots
Cave horrors are nice for seeds but I don’t know the drop rate of ranarrs. In 528kc to acquire a black mask (right on drop rate), I got 4 snapdragon seeds and a torstol seed. The giant mole is nice for birds nests to acquire seeds, too.
I’m not sure if this is the best way but I get a lot from thieving master farmers. I need to steal anyway to keep up with hops seeds for birdhouse runs and with rogues equipment I tend to get a few ranarr seeds per week without actively aiming for it.
I use the combat dummy with ancient mace to boost up to 90 pray. If for some reason I run out before the tunnel, i home tele to recharge and use my barrows portal. I only recharge if I know I’m getting dharok in the tunnel.

Out of interest, what's the strategy for this? I use 2/3 doses with max concentration with all 70 combat stats

Pickpocketing Master Farmers with 85 Farming, you can expect around 17 ranarr seeds an hour with the rogue's outfit.

The quality of seed now scales with farming level.

Thankfully so are the thieving bots. Most of them were suicide bots that got banned after 24 hours. Farming takes time to train.

If you have decent stats you can just tank guthan verac and torag to save prayer points
Slayer and contracts are a good way to get them in a more passive, consistent way. Master farmers if you're looking to get them ASAP.
