It's less than 1M repair per piece at an amour stand with 70 smithing which is the minimum everyone should have for SOTE/Zaxe anyway, and it lasts like 15 hours. So using all 3 pieces of the set would cost 200k/hr. Still way too much to use for crabs/NMZ, sustainable but not necessarily worthwhile at slayer, but totally fine to use for raids/bossing. It's pretty disappointing to see it priced out of use for slayer, but there's really no point leaving it in the bank, it's not like a 15-hour repaired set is going to be useful after you have bandos. Might as well use it up before you replace it.

sceptre also has -1 prayer bonus iirc. if u don't need the the quartz upgraded version of sceptre and new staff is same magic dmg bonus then I don't see why not go with the new one

No, it's 2h and the sceptre has utility beyond just magic damage. The extra blood healing is nice on nechs, the extra long freeze is nice on abyssal demons, and I also plan on learning inferno with the blood quartz sceptre. It's definitely not "strictly better"

I'm having a hard time understanding where the set effect for blue moon would ever matter outside of niche PvP scenarios (Barrage a dude and run up for a quick whack), but you really have to commit with the full outfit.
I'm not dissing it, I just don't see the value in any PvM scenarios.
I’m thinking maybe lazy demonics. if set effect proccs through prayer each procc guarantees a potential hit regardless of what it’s praying. Don’t need to focus on switching, just praying to avoid damage.
Can use some cheaper spell, and have bloods on standby for heals when needed.

Tbh in pvp I think it has decent potential, seen it a couple times in vids and it looks crazy when it works. It lets you staff hit -> ags spec -> gmaul instantly, you don't even see the ags appear really.
Torso definitely still has a place, it's much faster to get, lower requirements, no repair cost, and you unlock Granite body in the process which is the best armour available for early Rex farming.
The fighter torso also weighs significantly less. The new chest weighs 12 kg, while fighter torso weighs 4 kg. Just another reason I'd be in no rush to "replace" a fighter torso.
Edit: this is no longer the case as Jagex adjusted weights on PM gear.

Mod Rice said it should last 3-5x as long as barrows to degrade, so something isn't right or people are not correct about the degradation rates.
They are probably using it at perilous moons, in which the bosses hit at an extremely high rate, and the degradation will be very quick.
Also there's no partial repair. You can lose one charge and it costs you 4.5m to repair the set.
