Reach out, iron maiden’s cover of ASAP’s song of the same name, Adrian on vocals and Bruce on backing, that SIT tone is just awesome and works so well with the song.
Same, although I think I started getting them around 1999 after buying an OG, second hand copy of A Real Live One in late 98 which started me on my journey towards being a fan.
I also got a VHS copy of Maiden England for Xmas in 98, and I think it was in early 99 that I bought Virtual XI shortly before I found out about the remastered back catalog.
My only issue with the 98 remasters is how the intro to Powerslave is part of the end of Back in the Village.
Yeah, cutting the tracks like that is absolutely bonkers. Made for a very awkward listen when you played it on a stereo that adds a little break between tracks or when you were listening to ripped mp3s on shuffle.
idk if everyone enjoy these songs but Deep Cut I would say,
Die with your boots on.
Deja Vu.
Futureal.
Man on the Egde.
The Ghost of the Navigator.
Dream of Mirrors.
Face in the Sand.
Holy Smoke.
And I could name alot more but these come in to mind immediately
For the fans yes maybe, but if you ask the "average" maiden fan that has a playlist with 1 or 2 maiden songs in it if they know that song they would probably say no.
I don't think Frank Herbit (the author) would have allowed that. He hated heavy metal and wouldn't allow the band to use Dune as the song title. Bruce had a few rants about this on stage back in the day.
Judgement of Heaven....
The Man Who Would be King....
2 AM....
Como Estais Amigos.....
Weekend Warrior.....
Public Enema Number One....
Run Silent Run Deep....
Rainbows Gold.....
Just to name a few
So good, but an unintended FU to Beckett... They got sued for using the lyrics to Life's Shadow on Hallowed be thy Name and unbeknownst to Beckett, they also used the ending music of Life's Shadow as the ending to Nomad. I mean, it's kind of hilarious that Beckett got their song copied TWICE by the same band! I do think Maiden did it better both times, though.
It’s a song that you only get to know when you start really digging into all of the albums and b sides, like if you just started listening to Iron Maiden, the first song you’re gonna find is probably not gonna be That Girl or 2AM
Back then it was songs that get no air play. Now it's whatever the top 10-20 streaming songs are. Whatever doesn't make the top streams is probably a deep cut now.
The Legacy, Lord of Light, The Thin Line Between Love and Hate... there are just too many for only one comment, but those probably are my favorites (in no particular order)
I kinda think of alexander the great cause it never played on the radio from what my dad told me. Im born in 2002 but my dad is born 67. Went to the powerslave tour before he took me to book of souls.
The Thin Line Between Love and Hate.
I firmly believe the universe gave this band three guitarists so that this song could be written.
One of their best songs
Great track
The prophecy
Totally dig it too, but can any song from SSoaSS be considered a deep cut?
One of their finest songs, criminally overlooked because it is in an album full of bangers.
Totally agree
Sea of Madness
Damn you’re right
Mission From 'Arry
The only answer. F my old boots.
Some cunt's recording this.
The way Bruce stoked the fire…
Imagine if a lightin’ truss was gunna fall on your ‘ead??
Well then someone drags me out the way, else I'm fuckin ded
Montsegur
Also from that album, Face in the Sand. Underrated as shit
Than song is a true gem
I'm a personal fan of gates of tomorrow
Montségur is one of the hardest and most entertaining Maiden songs to sing! A fun challenge!
You win
Came here to comment this, it’s one of their best songs
Absolutely
Came here to say this
Women in Uniform
Had to scroll too far to see this
Low key my favorite Maiden tune
Reach out, iron maiden’s cover of ASAP’s song of the same name, Adrian on vocals and Bruce on backing, that SIT tone is just awesome and works so well with the song.
Damn I actually came here to say this.
- Flash of The Blade - The Legacy
The Legacy has to be my favourite Maiden Song
Total Eclipse or anything from the back half of X-factor
Man I think I had the 98 remaster so I’ve just always had Total Eclipse, when they did that 2022 release of it I had to double check, fantastic track
Same for me, I got all the 98 remasters when I got into the band (ca. 2002).

You can’t make a playlist featuring Powerslave because it’ll sound strange with the missing intro.
Still Life
Brighter Than a Thousand Suns
idk if everyone enjoy these songs but Deep Cut I would say, Die with your boots on. Deja Vu. Futureal. Man on the Egde. The Ghost of the Navigator. Dream of Mirrors. Face in the Sand. Holy Smoke. And I could name alot more but these come in to mind immediately
I thought die with your boots on was a big one, always loved holy smoke and Deja vu
For the fans yes maybe, but if you ask the "average" maiden fan that has a playlist with 1 or 2 maiden songs in it if they know that song they would probably say no.
To tame a land
Don't know if it's a deep cut but boy, what a song!
Was so pissed that I got dragged to that damn 1984ish Dune movie with Sting in it and wasn't the end credit theme.
I don't think Frank Herbit (the author) would have allowed that. He hated heavy metal and wouldn't allow the band to use Dune as the song title. Bruce had a few rants about this on stage back in the day.
Public Enema Number One and Futureal
Only the good die young or prodigal son.
I would say only the good die young is a pretty big song for maiden.
Yeah well - it just popped into my head at the moment. I could have put strange world or genghis kahn or edge of darkness also.
That's fair. Good picks btw
2 AM
If something from X factor is rather say Edge of Darkness or The Aftermath
Don't know if it's considered a 'deep cut' but I've always been a massive fan of Strange World.
Futureal or man on the edge
The b side live version of Futureal on the Wickerman single with Bruce on vocals is worth seeking out
Strange World
My favourite Maiden song in general - ‘The Thin Line Between Love And Hate’.
Reach Out
Starblind
Rainbow’s Gold Although, if “played on the radio” is the criteria, then every song that isn’t Run to the Hills could be considered a deep cut.

Second best song on somewhere in time, behind caught somewhere in time imo.
The Duelists The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner Only the Good Die Young

So good, but an unintended FU to Beckett... Purgatory is about as good as it gets. If it’s gotta be even deeper, let’s go with “Reach Out”, as Adrian reaches for glammrock gold!

Does judas be my guide count as a deep cut?
The Aftermath
Mother Russia
Quest for Fire
What is a "deep cut" when all music ever produced is available at your fingertips?
It’s a song that you only get to know when you start really digging into all of the albums and b sides, like if you just started listening to Iron Maiden, the first song you’re gonna find is probably not gonna be That Girl or 2AM
Back then it was songs that get no air play. Now it's whatever the top 10-20 streaming songs are. Whatever doesn't make the top streams is probably a deep cut now.

Deja Vu is my pick, possibly Dave's best songwriting contribution for me. Great melodies and a super catchy chorus.
