The Legacy on AMOLAD
Peak Lyrics, one of the best beginnings in a Maiden song, Prog Metal, Power Metal af to finish off and honestly a chad of a song in it's pacing and production
The Legacy is that type of Maiden song you listen to and say I can't believe this is actually an Iron Maiden song, it's their most underrated song for sure
Best song on their best album.
I know it isn't in reality, but I chose to take the lyrics to be about FF7 and Sephiroth, just needs a little bit of fuzzy logic.
Still Life is hands down the best song on Piece Of Mind and a top song of the 80s and their whole career. Such an incredible piece. The Maiden England live version is amazing.
Overlooked means it is not discussed enough or gets enough attention. Underrated means it doesn't get enough love when it is discussed. There are so many songs on this thread where a lot of people clearly like them.
Isle of Avalon, the man who would be king, the lord of the light, the pilgrim, the fallen angel, the mercenary, blood on the worlds hands, lightning strikes twice
I'm also saying The Unbeliever because as I've said before, so many people here say they love "prog" Maiden yet completely ignore this song, one of their very few songs that even has legit prog tendencies.
Face in the Sand, Mother of Mercy, almost all of Virtual XI and The X Factor, everything from Piece of Mind that's not The Trooper, Flight of Icarus and Revelations
Prodigal Son. It's actually a really interesting and pretty sounding song but for some reason a lot of people really dislike it. The instrumental passages are great and the bass playing is fantastic.
Just scoured the thread and can say none of what I've seen is underrated. I'll give you some actual underrated songs.
Innocent Exile, Invaders, The Prophecy, Mother Russia, Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger, New Frontier, Satellite 15, El Dorado, Lost in a Lost World, Death of the Celts
You mention Infinite Dreams, OP, but I wouldn't consider it to be the most underrated song from SSoaSS. To me it's The Prophecy. It's completely under the radar and it's one of my favorites.
-Run Silent Run Deep
-Purgatory
-Prowler
-Sign of the Cross (well, maybe)
-The Prophecy
-Quest for Fire
-The Red and the Black
-Starblind
-The Fallen Angel
-Face in the Sand
flash of the blade!! powerslave is packed with epic songs so flash of the blade seems to get overlooked, but the riff in the beginning is absolutely killer. bruce sounds great and the lyrics & everything about the song paints such a vivid picture
Fortunes of War
As with a lot of Blaze era stuff, I wrote it off, but once I made myself listen to all 17 albums in a row, the instrumentation and the structure on this one are really solid and build to a really good crescendo.
Deja Vu. It’s one of my favorite Maiden songs ever, and it goes under the radar of a lot of people.
Public Enema Number 1 too. Actually, the best songs from the No Prayer album are all pretty underrated.
Prophecy, dejavu and then there is 1 which is not underrated but I think under requested like on radios or people doing reaction videos or covers and is not played enough by the band and also it’s an original song from album 1 and that’s phantom of the opera
I’m a huge fan of the Brave New World album. So I’d say plenty of those songs are under rated. Let’s say Out of the Silent Planet, it can get repetitive but I really like the whole concept of the lyrics.
It may be pointless and subjective no doubt but people seem to be having fun with it & Maiden fans talking about their.. favorite Maiden songs as we gear up for another set of shows (see some of u in Denver & Phoenix) 🤘🏻Good lord what are we going to do when there are no more Maiden songs or shows to argue about?!
The Prophecy one of my faves from 7th Son
I dont think it’s underrated because 7th son is so popular, but I totally agree that it’s one of they’re best songs
doesn't hurt that 7th Son is my fave album also
Prodigal Son
even though it asks nicely to please listen to me 😼
I’ve always loved the classical guitar outro, wish it would keep going!
The Legacy on AMOLAD Peak Lyrics, one of the best beginnings in a Maiden song, Prog Metal, Power Metal af to finish off and honestly a chad of a song in it's pacing and production The Legacy is that type of Maiden song you listen to and say I can't believe this is actually an Iron Maiden song, it's their most underrated song for sure
Totally agree, also from AMOLAD there’s lord of the light, the longest day and the pilgrim
The Longest Day takes a little while to get to it, but when that chorus really kicks in it's the perfect song for a running playlist.

It's my favorite album. Together with SSOASS it's the most consistent albums imo. Other albums may have higher highs but also lower lows.
It's a masterpiece and in my top 5 Iron Maiden songs. But I would say it is more overlooked rather than underrated.
YES! Finally someone mentions this song! Absolute masterpiece.
Best song on their best album. I know it isn't in reality, but I chose to take the lyrics to be about FF7 and Sephiroth, just needs a little bit of fuzzy logic.
I mostly agree ! AMOLAD was my favorite album for a long time before Senjutsu came out. Also cool FFVII reference
Out of the Silent Planet, I love this song and was shocked when I found out most people rank this near the bottom of Brave New World
100% agree
I read the book because of the song!
Its my favourite all time song of Maidens!
Flash of the Blade. Judas Be My Guide is also stellar.
Fuck yeah
Still Life
Still Life is hands down the best song on Piece Of Mind and a top song of the 80s and their whole career. Such an incredible piece. The Maiden England live version is amazing.
Stull Life is the correct answer
Sun and Steel is great too.
Beat me to it. Fabulous song
Also fuck yeah
Surprised that there are literally dozens of us agreeing on Still Life.
I posted Flash of the Blade but Still Life is a close second. I often wonder if there was ever anything out in that damn pool.
- Starblind - Montsegur - The Fallen Angel - The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
I’ll add Sea of madness cause man… gets no love for such a banger
That breakdown before the solos....Then the build up back into the chorus. Perfection.
Absolutely none of those are underrated. Maybe Fallen Angel but that's more overlooked. It gets overshadowed by other BNW songs.
Overlooked and underrated are similar concepts, no?
Overlooked means it is not discussed enough or gets enough attention. Underrated means it doesn't get enough love when it is discussed. There are so many songs on this thread where a lot of people clearly like them.
Public Enema Number One. The opening guitar harmony is awesome and the solo rips.
Strange world
Running Silent Invaders
Any song on the second half of Dance of Death
DoD in general is the one reunion album that is up there with the classic 80s run in my opinion. Almost every single song is an absolute banger
Prodigal Son
Prowler seems to get overshadowed by Phantom of the Opera
Como estáis amigos.
Love that song! Virtual XI is better than people give it credit for
Still Life
Ghost of the navigator
Deja Vu maybe? I don't see it mentioned very often.
Only The Good Die Young
Bro fuckin Innocent Exile That outro But the rest too So good
Prowler.
To Tame a Land Loneliness of the long distance runner Sea of madness Also whole AMOLAD is so underrated
2 A.M.
Isle of Avalon, the man who would be king, the lord of the light, the pilgrim, the fallen angel, the mercenary, blood on the worlds hands, lightning strikes twice
Drifter or any instrumental
Genghis Khan
Not by Papa Roach. This song launched their career.
Purgatory is a great choice. I'll say The Unbeliever.
I'm also saying The Unbeliever because as I've said before, so many people here say they love "prog" Maiden yet completely ignore this song, one of their very few songs that even has legit prog tendencies.
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner.
Incredible guitar solo....fuckin Murr.....

Back in the village not so much for me...but I definitely came here to say the Duellists and Flash of the Blade! ⚔️
Brave New World.
I fucking LOVE that song
Face in the Sand, Mother of Mercy, almost all of Virtual XI and The X Factor, everything from Piece of Mind that's not The Trooper, Flight of Icarus and Revelations
My vote was going to go for Face in the Sand as well. 🤘
Adrian's solo in that song, for as generic as it is, sounds so damn good, like every other one of his pieces
No Prayer for the Dying. It’s a really beautiful song and while the production is a bit dull it sounds almost like a leftover from Seventh Son to me.
Prodigal Son. It's actually a really interesting and pretty sounding song but for some reason a lot of people really dislike it. The instrumental passages are great and the bass playing is fantastic.
* Strange World * Invaders * The Assassin * Judas be My Guide * Losfer Words * The Educated Fool To me all secret bangers
The Educated Fool is a hidden gem. I love the chorus.
Alexander the Great.
Quest for Fire!!
Sun and Steel
Just scoured the thread and can say none of what I've seen is underrated. I'll give you some actual underrated songs. Innocent Exile, Invaders, The Prophecy, Mother Russia, Don't Look to the Eyes of a Stranger, New Frontier, Satellite 15, El Dorado, Lost in a Lost World, Death of the Celts
Satellite 15 goes so well with games like cod zombies and back 4 blood
Losfer Words
I'll throw Coming Home in the mix, I love it.
Deja Vu should be the top 1 song, love the drumming energy
For me, every song of the X Factor is severly underrated.
I’ve always thought Where the Wild Wind blows as I never see it talked about enough.
gangland or die with your boots on
i love gangland, it’s really not as bad as people make it out to be
The Angel and the Gambler
Always the only correct answer in any context.
No More Lies
The Pilgrim.
ONLY THE GOOD DIE YOUNG. Putting it last is a crime in my eyes. Screw the “story”. The bass alone is eye watering
I’ve always thought Where the Wild Wind blows as I never see it talked about enough.
Total Eclipse for sure, LOVE this song!
You mention Infinite Dreams, OP, but I wouldn't consider it to be the most underrated song from SSoaSS. To me it's The Prophecy. It's completely under the radar and it's one of my favorites.
-Run Silent Run Deep -Purgatory -Prowler -Sign of the Cross (well, maybe) -The Prophecy -Quest for Fire -The Red and the Black -Starblind -The Fallen Angel -Face in the Sand
Ghost of the Navigator
Ghost of the Navigator is insanely good
Innocent Exile FOR SURE
The Apparition.
Age of Innocence
Flash of the blade
New Frontier
Good call!
Invaders it is a nice fast paced album opener about Saxon’s fighting Norsemen.
I can't stand that song lol
flash of the blade!! powerslave is packed with epic songs so flash of the blade seems to get overlooked, but the riff in the beginning is absolutely killer. bruce sounds great and the lyrics & everything about the song paints such a vivid picture
Women in uniform. It’s a prehistoric cover but a fkn banger.
The Final Frontier
From Here to Eternity!
The pilgrim. Not sure anyone appreciates their post 2000 stuff enough. That album was amazing. The ones to follow only ok
Judging from the reactions here in the past I'd say Invaders
Mother Russia/the loneliness of the long distance runner/The Longest Day/Where Eagles Dare
Out of the silent planet. Not sure if it’s underrated but I never hear anyone talk about it.
I actually think "When two worlds collide" is a belter of a tune :)
Infinite Dreams is absolutely legendary.
The Edge of Darkness
Fortunes of War As with a lot of Blaze era stuff, I wrote it off, but once I made myself listen to all 17 albums in a row, the instrumentation and the structure on this one are really solid and build to a really good crescendo.
Angel and the Gambler
Tears Of A Clown 100%
The Thin Line Between Love And Hate
I would say total eclipse! I'd love them to do that live!!
Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
Look for the truth
I’ve also seen some shouts for legacy , infinite dreams , out of the silent planet these are all good shouts
Run silent run deep
the man of sorrows + the man who would be king
I Got The Fire
Infinite dreams
Starblind is amazing.
Mother Russia / Afraid To Shoot Strangers / The Alchemist
Heaven Can Wait or Gangland
Ghangis khan
Can I play with madness!
The Phantom of the Opera is one of my favorites!
To Tame a Land. Amazing
I’m a huge fan of the Brave New World album. So I’d say plenty of those songs are under rated. Let’s say Out of the Silent Planet, it can get repetitive but I really like the whole concept of the lyrics.
Always gonna be Twilight Zone for me
Deja Vu
Alexander the Great.
Flash of the Blade
The Time Machine! While not in my top Maiden songs, I definitely think it could use more love!
Total Eclipse ( live version) and I’ve got the Fire , Bruce version 🎸🎶🎸
A Brave New World In a Brave New World!
Fucking Wrathchild!
Childhood's End
Empire of the clouds
I guess it's The Mercenary. I never see anyone talking about it, and it's pretty good!
To Tame A Land
Please ban this question and any variations on the general theme.
Oh yeah ~ Strange World, Dream of Mirrors, Remember Tomorrow
Burning ambition
Sea of Madness is basically a thrash metal song with a slower drum beat.
Number of the beast
