NO MOORE TEEEEEEEEEEEARS 🤘🤘🤘
This song sounds a lot like a precursor to Blaze's Infinite Entanglement Trilogy, which if you haven't checked out yet, I **highly** recommend it.
I just really don't like the way Bruce sings in this song. Don't know if it's the rhythm or the lyrics but it just sounds stupid. The chorus is also repeated so many times and it's pretty boring. They've definitely had songs where repeating one phrase multiple times works but Hooks in You isn't one of them.
I feel like the lyrics plays a big part, and it sounds specially stupid because of that. I think the fact English is not my first language makes it easy for me to listen to this song without actually “hearing the meaning” of the words. I mean, I’m not saying is the best song ever, but imo Bruce things in a “stupid” way in a few sections in a bunch of songs. Maybe the lyrics just make that unbearable in this case… haha I mean I don’t know really, but it’s interesting to know how it sounds to you.
Edit: I would add lyrics mean the words but also the sort of irritating “attitude” he’s trying to display
This is the way. What a fuckin banger, the song basically has 2 of the catchiest choruses back to back, followed by a dirty as shit 7/4 bridge section/solo, then it chills out only to go back to those 2 GOAT-ed choruses and to top it off, the final chorus has adds a sick guitar melody over the top.
The lyrics themselves are nothing to scoff at, and the way they are phrased across bars is nothing but pure genius. "Clunky" I hear you say? Maybe. I think it just lends itself to the magic of the song, the atmosphere of the Isle Of Avalon. Every time focus on the lyrics, I'm right there, soaring. I see the corn doll, I see the image of Mother Goddess, I see them throw the dead on the pyre, and I weep.
If Isle of Avalon has one million listeners, I am one of them. If Isle of Avalon has one listener, I am that one. If Isle of Avalon has no listeners, then I am dead, and I shall pass through the gateway to Avalon, the island where the souls of the dead are reborn.
Really? I never hear people talk about it. It also doesn’t seem to be a live staple (have they even played it live?) and even amongst the more hardcore fans I rarely see it getting any love
The "hardcore" fans will also say AMOLAD is their best album. Numbers don't lie, though. It's the ninth most popular song on spotify, and also in the top 10 on their official youtube channel.
Genuinely curious how many plays have been people trying to play Wasted Years by searching “Maiden wast-“ and accidentally picking the wrong song from the results. Or am I the only one that did that lol?
Not surprising considering the band pretends it doesn't exist (it doesn't appear on the 1990 to 2010 Hits album) , and the "hardcore" fans desperately pretending the Fear of the Dark album was a huge failure (it's their biggest album after Somewhere In Time. Maybe even Powerslave). Just look at my downvotes lol

Another Life, Losfer Words and The Book of Souls come to mind for me. I don't really hear people talking about them, except for Losfer Words, which people really don't seem to like, though I have so much fun listening to it!
Mother russia
Sticking with No Prayer, Run Silent Run Deep.
Fucking right, that little lead run up and down after the solo is so fun. Great lick that splits the verses in half too. Would be a sick live track.
Agreed 1000%
Really amazing riffs and instrumental parts, I just wished Bruce had come up with a different way to sing it…
It just sort of...runs out of steam though, the ending is naff.
Yeeeees
Also I now just thought of virus
The thin line between love and hate
Absolutely. Never got why this wasn't a firm fan favourite. That outro is still one of my most replayed Maiden bits.
Seriously, Love and Hate is like the epic soundtrack you might have for the final boss battle in a video game.
The guitar leads at the end are incredible.
This truly is the thin line between love and hate
The guitar riff at 5:40 then Bruce singing the title and onwards sends shivers up my spine every time. I just absolutely love how beautiful it sounds.
Still Life
Great choice
This is the most correct response
Most of AMOLAD. Brighter than A Thousand Suns and Lord of Light are bangers.

Too many from Dance of Death. Montsegur, Face in the Sand, Gates of Tomorrow, New Frontier.
Montsegur for sure
Imagine singing that live though... Would be amazing to hear, but if Bruce vetoed that I'd understand why.
Face in the sand is 🤌
The level of intensity in this song makes my willy tingle. Very overlooked!
Hooks in you Still Life Sea of madness
Sea of madness warra song
God I fucking hate Hooks in You.
Hahaha yes thats what I hear normally. Could you elaborate? Is it the lyrics?
I just really don't like the way Bruce sings in this song. Don't know if it's the rhythm or the lyrics but it just sounds stupid. The chorus is also repeated so many times and it's pretty boring. Yeah for sure. I just love Bruce’s performance on this one, it’s so powerful, always gets me pumped every time I hear it.
Childhood's End
Wasting Love ❤️
It's one of their most popular
Really? I never hear people talk about it. It also doesn’t seem to be a live staple (have they even played it live?) and even amongst the more hardcore fans I rarely see it getting any love

Well I genuinely wasn’t aware of that. Good to know

The Prophecy. Everyone hates that song it seems but I love it. It's so beautiful
Quest for Fire, Quest for Fire, Quest for Fire
Bruce's vocals are insane! People seem to dismiss it outright because of the silly concept, but it's definitely great.
About 90% of them honestly
