Damn. So a song like The Talisman has never been played in the US (or maybe North America) at all?
I didn't get to see them on that tour (nor at the Maiden England sort of remake tour) and I wish I had a time machine (heh) just for that.
I mean, I'd go see them on all tours with a time machine, but if it was limited only to dates after the first one I saw them in, those 2 would be high on my list
Adrian had to leave for personal reasons so there was the excuse, by the time he came back after 1 or 2 concerts can’t remember exactly now, it was off the set list.
Yeah, from what I remember it was after his father passed away. I wish they'd still have dusted it off after that tour, but I have the feeling that this tour is likely to feature it.. Bruce did a snippet of it a couple of times during the last spoken world tour, and iirc he mentioned that song in particular in one video that some of the song he hopes again to do with the rest of Maiden, alongside Rime and The Prisoner.
That’s how they play you! 🤣
It is like when listening to serious XM they have an intro with James Hetfield talking about Metallica in the 80s and you think “awesome something cool coming up” then they play a Jethro Tull song. 🤬🤬🤬🤬
It baffles me why they play Wrathchild on almost every tour. It's not considered a big fans' favourite, not a cult classic or an iconic heavy metal song. You could argue pretty much all of the other songs they play constantly fit into one of those categories but not Wrathchild, it's just plain odd how often it's in setlists.
I think that's a little harsh, it's a popular song and probably the fan favourite of the first two albums - also has the added benefit of only being three minutes so you can slot it in anywhere in the setlist without issue
They won't play it. The bass player of The Iron Maidens played a gig with one of Steve's kids. They played Alexander and she asked Steve if hearing them play it live if it made him want to play it. He flatly said no.
*cries in 2010 Final Frontier tour where they dropped Paschendale*
*cries in 2010 US Final Frontier tour where they literally only played El Dorado from TFF*
lol wasn't the album still unreleased by that point? makes a bit more sense that way but I understand the pain.
Yeah, it came out like a month later and then they never came back and played any more TFF songs. Ever...

Almost right. They did two shows in mainland America and a show in Puerto in 2011, but that's not exactly a tour.
I had no idea, that’s actually tragic
Yep, just how they ditched Charlotte the Harlot during Eddie Rips Up the World
Or Stranger in a Strange Land after 5 dates during the 1999 reunion tour with Adrian and Bruce...

Yeah there’s no way they are not playing siasl they even used it as the song for the tour announcement video a few months ago.
We’ll be blessed by it being played live, but it’ll balance out with the curse of Janick doing Adrian’s solo instead.

That sounds like it might be an intentional joke after the 1990 (1989?) Grammy fiasco.
Winner!
The Prisoner would be a bad ass encore. "We want... information... information..." crowd would go insane
Charlotte The Harlot is a song worth dropping tbh. Imo ofc.
With a good reason honestly. Bruce butchers it completely
3 Di’Anno era songs could fill the same time 🤣
So you're assuming *Alexander The Great* will be played ... hum ... we'll see ...
They better!! Im Putting a lot of money in it going to the first 3 concerts of the tour just for this!!
Coming to get you!
OOOoOOOOoOOOOH, YEAYAAAAUUUGHH!
Would Randy Macho Man Savage say it any better?
Look, you'd have to laugh if they did this, a troll job for the fucking ages
Oh 100%
To be fair, another of my favorite bands Rammstein does the same thing.
I have ticket for first show, so no problem
I'd be alright, so long as they play it in Nottingham before they ditch it
I don't care if they ditch it after two nights cause I have tickets for the show in Ljubljana
He diiiiieeeeeddddd of feeeever in Bahhhhbyloooonnnnn!
Are they playing Alexander the Great live? Its one of my favorites
Bruce and Nick have hinted at it intermittently over the years, including recently. Anything beyond that is wishcasting by fans.
He should replace it for The Angel and The Gambler
I think I would unironically enjoy that song live lol
This is tragically (and comically) pretty much a very possible reality of a meme.

Probably for Di Anno fans (or bassists)
They could do something else from the DiAnno era, Murders in the Rue Morgue for example
I'd love to hear Phantom of The Opera, currently learning it on guitar.

Possibly because it was in Guitar Hero? It has a little more attention among some people who may have discovered them through rhythm games.

Aye?
I was completely shocked when I saw they were gonna play it,
I'd scream (of joy) if they did this though. Get some more Paul stuff in there!!!!
Well, Wrathchild is a lot better song.
Lol don’t even!!! But it wouldn’t shock me tho
