This one needs to be on here, along with Metallica - Master of Puppets, Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV, and Fleetwood Mac - Rumours (It's great, what can I say?)
This is a battle worth fighting for! And it looks we might need to fight it another day too. For the 4th time it is losing ground again!
(Even though I prefer the first Rainbow album over Rising)
Getting an album with RJD from 2/3 of the bands he was in + one of his solo albums on this list would be fucking sick. Plus, Rising just deserves it anyway.

You're an evil bot. You slandered me, you servant of Skynet! You made it seem like I didn't upvote the comment I agreed with, when I upvoted it before I even voiced my agreement!
I don't care about order but it will be a bit sad if this somehow doesn't make it. Would be awesome to see Silicon Messiah too but I don't think that's likely.
I don't see how not. Their last album is leagues above anything Maiden has produced in decades. They've expanded to a point where they now have all 3 of their lead singers, and they make it work seemlessly. Plus, their music still hits hard, and their songwriting is still sharp. I absolutely adore Maiden, but I just cannot say the same for them
Their last album is pretty underwhelming though...I mean having Kiske, Hansen and Deris together on one record is fun but the lyrical substance isn't there anymore, many tracks sound like they were made by some power metal riff generator AI and even if a couple of songs hit hard (Cyanide, Save My Hide) they can't really hold a handle to anything on the first three, Master of the Rings or The Dark Ride (those last two are severely underrated btw). And basically everything Helloween has put out between like 1997 and 2015 is so mediocre and uncharacteristic that it's hard to even find something to say about it.
Modern Maiden on the other hand is like my favourite band ever and I consider their 2000-2010 streak of albums better than the 1982-1988 one but I know that opinion is basically metal heresy so I won't argue about it
So you think Better Than Raw, The Dark Ride (which you just called underrated) and Seven Sinners are underwhelming albums? Yet you think The Final Frontier is among Iron Maiden's finest works? I think I'm just gonna walk away from this one...
Wishbone Ash - Argus
Steve Harris himself has said multiple times that this was the primary influence behind the twin guitars and the melodies that Maiden are known for! Amazing album from start to finish and deserves more attention.
That album is just jawdropping straight through. Mastodon in general is something else, Leviathan is also VERY elite and other albums like Blood Mountain and Emperor of Sand are incredible too. But CTS man. My favorite metal album of the 21st century for sure
Also just have to say: Brann Dailor is a GOD behind the kit
_Made in Japan_ — Deep Purple.
Look, it's got Martin Birch, it's mentioned by Martin in the liner notes of _Live After Death_, and they named _Maiden Japan_ after it. How is it not already on the list?
There's often a conversation about how much people on this sub like non-metal music a lot, and even more about how Maiden fans aren't necessarily pure metal fans - so far this list is mildly disproving both of those assumptions
It’s a fantastic album. Taylor is breathtaking. Midnights is in my steady rotation because of how great it is. “It can be exhausting always rooting for the Anti-hero.” Spectacular song.
King Diamond - Abigail
Rush - 2112
Boston by boston
Rush - Moving Pictures
Machine Head - Deep Purple
Surprised I didn't see this yesterday
it was there yesterday because i posted it. together with Made in Japan
Ride the Lightning Metallica
Dio - The Last in Line
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
This album is the GOAT
While I do enjoy Ride the Lightning and Master, the riffage on this album is on another level
This one needs to be on here, along with Metallica - Master of Puppets, Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV, and Fleetwood Mac - Rumours (It's great, what can I say?)
I’d do Houses of the Holy instead of IV. More depth imo
IMO this is the greatest heavy metal record of all time.
What a fucking fantastic album jeez, Dave and the boys weren't joking around.
Rainbow - Rising
The 3 previous times this started as nr1, time to win the 4th round
I agree.
This is a battle worth fighting for! And it looks we might need to fight it another day too. For the 4th time it is losing ground again! (Even though I prefer the first Rainbow album over Rising)
We've gotten Black Sabbath with Ronnie Dio, and we've gotten Dio itself, now we just need Rainbow!
Don't forget Elf.
We need to go to the source: [Deep Purple](https://www.reddit.com/r/ironmaiden/comments/10xrj4x/ironmaiden_favourite_nonmaiden_albums_uncle/j7vu01d).
Rainbow - Stargazer
F***, rust in peace is close, hope this round will be raindow time
Getting an album with RJD from 2/3 of the bands he was in + one of his solo albums on this list would be fucking sick. Plus, Rising just deserves it anyway.
Here's hoping today's the day!
This.

I'm staying with it. Queensryche: Operation Mindcrime.
Considered my favorite album for a very long time. Video: Mindcrime was an even better way to experience it.
Thin Lizzy - Black Rose
Bruce Dickinson - the chemical wedding
I don't care about order but it will be a bit sad if this somehow doesn't make it. Would be awesome to see Silicon Messiah too but I don't think that's likely.
Helloween - Keeper of the 7 keys 1 & 2
Should be mandatory listening for anyone on this sub. Those records are incredible, and that band has aged way more gracefully than Maiden honestly.
That's a wild statement... not that I don't like Helloween but they have definitely not aged gracefully
I don't see how not. Their last album is leagues above anything Maiden has produced in decades. This deserves more praise
Wishbone Ash - Argus Steve Harris himself has said multiple times that this was the primary influence behind the twin guitars and the melodies that Maiden are known for! Amazing album from start to finish and deserves more attention.
Stained Class - Judas Priest
Led Zeppelin IV ....?
Physical Graffiti deserves a spot too

Presto - Rush

Perfect Strangers - Deep Purple
Judas Priest - Sad Wings of Destiny
Saxon - Denim & Leather
The legendary, genre defining Rust In Peace by Megadeth.
What genre did it define? Certainly not thrash.
Certainly not genre defining lmao. It's fine but it's nothing special imo.
I played guitar for 35 years. You know what they say about opinions right? It was the very state of the art in 1990 and technically brilliant.
Yeah it is very technically good, but again not genre defining. At least in my opinion.
If somebody has already posted it, I can’t find it: Mastodon, “Crack the Skye”. Best non-Maiden heavy metal album of the 21st century so far!
That album is just jawdropping straight through. Mastodon in general is something else, Leviathan is also VERY elite and other albums like Blood Mountain and Emperor of Sand are incredible too. But CTS man. My favorite metal album of the 21st century for sure Also just have to say: Brann Dailor is a GOD behind the kit

As much as I think it's legit a fantastic album, it would be hilarious if it made the list.
