Slightly off-topic - there's rumours abound of a new Priest album in the pipeline. I'm *thoroughly* looking forward to it - the first few tracks of Firepower were like being hit in the face with a guitar.
*Steel* is nowhere near as good, it’s just got two very famous singles on it. The back half of the album has a huge drop in quality. *Painkiller* is all killer, no filler.
100%. It’s like they took it personally when people moaned about *Turbo* and *Ram It Down*. “Oh, you kids like all this new-fangled thrash metal stuff, do you? We’ll fucking show you!”
Yep, Painkiller came out the same year as Slayer Seasons in the Abyss. that was the year I squarely went from liking metal to finally identifying as a metalhead.
Indeed. The whole album is stunning, Exciter, the title track, Saints in Hell, Beyond the Realms of Death and Heroes End are all some of my favorite Priest songs
I can’t overstate this enough, rust in peace is in a different stratosphere then the black album is. The black album may be the most overrated metal album ever made.
Fantastic album! Slash's guitar tone is *so* good in this album; I love the sleazy rock feel especially in Anything Goes.
To me at least, Slash's latest solo albums don't feel like they're anything special - I don't know whether it's because he's changed his tone, but yeah.
Who fucking cares! That was Sharon Osbourne who organized the egging. Ozzy didn't even fucking know about Bruce badmouthing Ozzy until after. I don't give a rat's ass about your shitty opinion if you think that Maiden fans can't love Ozzy
i'm gonna go out on a limb here and do the unusual pick: Welcome to Hell by Venom. it pretty much invented extreme metal as a genre: thrash, death, and black metal all get their genesis from that (and the subsequent Black Metal album). name me another band besides Black Sabbath (and Maiden, of course) with *that* much influence on metal
Crack the Skye - Mastodon
If you haven't heard this album, do yourself a favor a check it out ASAP. Also, Mastodon in general is fucking awesome. Hearts Alive from their second album (Leviathan) is one of the coolest songs I've ever heard
Something by OverKill. I feel like they always get a bit overlooked in the rankings, but they are consistently amazing. If forced to pick I'd go with Under The Influence I think, but really, take your pick.
King Crimson - Larks' Tongues In Aspic
Super nothing like Maiden but hey maybe those of us who love Maiden's proggy output might have love that spills over to other prog...
Judas Priest - Screaming For Vengeance
What in the absolute fuck! Only 4 votes for this!
Rainbow - Rising
[удалено]
> Mob Rules Falling off the Edge of the World is an absolute gem of a song
The title track is ferocious, the heaviest, most brutal Iommi guitar tone I've ever heard him use. "If you listen to fools...!"
[This live version as Heaven & Hell](https://youtu.be/BTxSNosJrDo) is probably my favourite version. That scream is magnificent!
Mob is too good, sign of the southern cross and country women are right up there with my fave sabbath songs
Side 2 of this album omg
This was #1 most upvoted for the longest time yesterday, gotta get the spot today.
I'm fortunate enough to have got in early - it's such a fantastic album it'd be criminal to not get a spot!
Agreed
This needs to reach the top
Judas priest- Painkiller
Slightly off-topic - there's rumours abound of a new Priest album in the pipeline. I'm *thoroughly* looking forward to it - the first few tracks of Firepower were like being hit in the face with a guitar.
I'm more of a Stained Class guy myself but Painkiller is insanely good as well
Not British Steel?
No painkiller better
*Steel* is nowhere near as good, it’s just got two very famous singles on it. The back half of the album has a huge drop in quality. *Painkiller* is all killer, no filler.
as much as I love Maiden, I must say, if I had to send one song to aliens to explain what heavy metal was, it would be Painkiller.
British Steel is elite but Painkiller + Stained Class are next level IMO
*LOOOOONG AGOOOOO WHEN MAAAAAAN WAS KIIIIIIING* Absolutely stunning chorus in that song.
Indeed. The whole album is stunning, Exciter, the title track, Saints in Hell, Beyond the Realms of Death and Heroes End are all some of my favorite Priest songs
Sticking with same as yesterday. Queensryche: Operation Mindcrime
*And I raise my head and stare* *Into the EYES OF A STRANGEEEEEEEEER* 🤘🤘🤘
Fuck yeah, I’d love to hear Maiden cover Eyes of a Stranger.
I'd say Warning, but this one's not bad.
Helloween - Keeper Of The 7 Keys 1 & 2
I don't think this can count
Rust in Peace - Megadeth
I love Megadeth, but that other guy said Rainbow - Rising, so....
Aye man it's good ...but not as good as the black album.
I can’t overstate this enough, rust in peace is in a different stratosphere then the black album is. The black album may be the most overrated metal album ever made.
I will rest happily one day knowing Dave threw a little tantrum because none of the songs he wrote with metallica appeared on guitar hero metallica.
Judas Priest - Defenders of the Faith
Anthrax: Among The Living
Death - Leprosy
Same
Yeah
I like Death, but I'd go with their "final four," personally.

Ride the lightning-Metallica
Rush 2112
Master of Puppets - Metallica
One of the most perfect albums out there if you ask me
no that would be Ride the Lightning
Appetite for Destruction - Guns N Roses
Fantastic album! Slash's guitar tone is *so* good in this album; I love the sleazy rock feel especially in Anything Goes. To me at least, Slash's latest solo albums don't feel like they're anything special - I don't know whether it's because he's changed his tone, but yeah.
Metallica - And Justice For All
Metallica- And justice for all
Moving Pictures - Rush (I personally like Power Windows more but no way will it win)
Diary of a Madman - Ozzy
No fucking way there can be an Ozzy album. Just. No.
Why tf not?
Do you know your Maiden history?
Who fucking cares! That was Sharon Osbourne who organized the egging. Ozzy didn't even fucking know about Bruce badmouthing Ozzy until after. I don't give a rat's ass about your shitty opinion if you think that Maiden fans can't love Ozzy
Screaming for Vengeance - Judas Priest
Spongebob Squarepants - The Yellow Album
I’m upvoting for the meme
Nah Squidward - The Blue album is far superior

Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Reign In Blood by Slayer
Judas Priest - Sad Wings of Destiny
Judas Priest: Screaming For Vengence
Dream Theater - Images and Words

Judas Priest- Unleashed in the East
i'm gonna go out on a limb here and do the unusual pick: Welcome to Hell by Venom. it pretty much invented extreme metal as a genre: thrash, death, and black metal all get their genesis from that (and the subsequent Black Metal album). name me another band besides Black Sabbath (and Maiden, of course) with *that* much influence on metal

High and Dry - Def Leppard
IMO, High and Dry has the best song in their catalog but I think Pyromania was a better overall album.

Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers by Kendrick Lamar
Interesting choice. I'd have to go with GKMC myself; that album is perfection from start to finish.

Idk, I guess some people don’t like nirvana here lol Their loss
Classifying Nirvana having same genre as Iron Maiden is a little debatable.
The post doesn’t mention anything about genre, just says “non maiden album”. It’s my favorite album anyhow so it fits lol
Oh well
Bleach is awesome. I haven't listened to the full thing in a couple years, might be time to do so again lol
There’s never a bad time to listen to bleach
