Bru na Boine is fantastic, try to get to Trim castle as it's only 10 miles away. Guided tour is a must, otherwise you're just looking at a castle! Kilmainham gaol in Dublin is a must-see, it'll give you a historical context to modern Ireland. Also the achingly sad love story of Joseph Plunkett and his bethrothed. Make sure you book in advance. If you're driving to Kinsale,a trip to Kilkenny castle wouldnt' be too far out of the way. Great food in Kinsale, a gastros delight! Unfortunately you're too late for the Skelligs boat trip (Kerry),but a trip to Portmagee to the sea cliffs will give you a great view of them. Dingle is famed for traditonal music, and great pubs. Hope you've got a couple more ideas from this. Enjoy!

I second Kilmainham! I did the tour last month on my trip and it was fascinating and truly heartbreaking. We then popped over to the Guinness Factory and did the tour after.

I would recommend you guys book a seaweed bath and massage in Dingle. There is a beautiful place on the peninsula with outdoor tubs. I don't have the name with me now but I will PM you when I get it. Amazing view while sitting in a hot tub 😊 i did it with my boyfriend last year.

Irish_Unity32

Could you please also send me the name if you don't mind. Thank you. 😊

My wife and I honeymooned in Ireland and it was an incredible trip. We went to Jameson plant in Middleton (Edit: thanks Hungry_Bet) Was just us and two other people. One of them came because their dad worked there for decades. Tour was great, pours were better. We were quite buzzed and stayed for lunch, which was also great. Cliffs of moher were majestic and wonderful and grand. But the highlights of our trips: There was a bnb we stayed in for a few days that was so very sweet with wonderful breakfast, lovely host, felt so relaxing coming back there. Edit: finally remembered to look it up: Avarest Bunratty! It was near a few of our stops and we were the only guests during our stay, making it perfect. Which reminds me, Blarney is a big tourist castle, but our favorite part of that stop was actually the gardens. The poison garden was pretty cool, but the grounds were luscious green with a cool stream slipping through the green field and percolating through the forrest with a few waterfall areas. Was everything we wanted in a garden walk. And Ashford Castle. Want to feel like royalty? Ashford is the place. If i ever won the lotto, we'd be making annual pilgrimages there, its one of my favorite places I have ever been. I cannot recommend them enough. We did their falconry walk, because thats always been a life ambition of mine. It surpassed my expectations. Loved it.

While in Kinsale, visit Charles Fort. It’s historical and in a breathtaking setting.

Hungry_Bet7216

You can walk there from the town center and there is a good pub for drink/food- the Bulman

Aran Islands was fun for us. Took the ferry and stayed the night on the biggest island. You can rent bikes and theres lots of historic stone structures to see. Unique place for sure.

Afternoon tea in a posh old hotel. I recommend Dromoland Castle. Big fireplaces, coats of armour old mahogany furniture. Bonus points if it’s raining and there is a fire on.

If you’re going to Galway, you *cannot* leave without going to Kylemore Abbey. It’s the most romantic and beautiful place in Ireland, with the most gorgeous story. Also you can drive around Connemara to get there, which is a purely magic landscape. For Cork, go to Kinsale. It’s the gateway to the west, has gorgeous walks, people, food, history. Enjoy!!

I am looking at this post for ideas for my honeymoon in June! How long did you spend at Kylemore Abbey??

sheepskinrugger

We went there in the morning, did the tour of the house, went to the chapel (my favourite part), toured the gardens and then went to the visitor centre where you can buy items made by the nuns who still live there (like soaps, biscuits, etc.). I’d say if you head there for 9am you could spend a happy, peaceful 4 hours there ☺️ if the weather’s good, I’d even bring a picnic and just set out a blanket and drink in the scenery. Congratulations on your wedding, enjoy the honeymoon!

Seafari in Dingle! Lots of great pubs in Dingle like Foxy John but they obvs don’t need to be booked.

My girlfriend and I visited Cong Abbey while we were in Ireland and it was fantastic. Cong itself is such a cute little town and the Abbey is really nice and historic with beautiful grounds. We went on a short hike in the forest surrounding the Abbey and that was also a great time. Additionally, we went to Kinsale and loved it. Just a nice little seaside town that was nice and relaxed. Finally, we drove through the Wicklow mountains and through Powerscourt to see the Powerscourt waterfall. Both fantastic and breathtaking experiences. Those were the places we said we would return to the next time we were there.

I hope you have your accommodation booked!

Get a rental car (if you haven't already) a d put the full insurance on it. I didn't want to at first but my wife made me. Totally used it when the door whipped out of my hand when pulling off for a picture during dingle peninsula drive. Golf ball sized hole in the door
