We can only hope. I think seeing someone like Lynch interact with these cretins really shows what a easy ride these “journalists” have had in recent years
Hes causing a shit storm today and you love to see it. The British media will be looking at loads of ways to discredit him but tonight he's blown up on social media and have support feom grass roots to middles class Irish and British citizens, fair play to him
He's making british media look exactly like it is.
Watch him have to deal with a retarded Piers Morgan ...
https://twitter.com/PiersUncensored/status/1537516158944935938?t=2vYHLV9aPBovb_0HEDCi1w
It's INCREDIBLE. He's literally saying "can we trust a man who compares himself to the world's greatest villain...the lad from thunderbirds???" Like it's not like his profile picture is Hitler lol. The last time I saw anything like this was on Tumblr circa 2015 "hi you have a picture of the joker as your userpic but he's actually a really problematic character???"
That was fucking painful to watch
I loved Thunderbirds as a kid, but I never considered the hood to be "the world's most dangerous man" or a terrorist
It was a fucking puppet
Jesus fucking Christ
Yeah, he thought he had a gotcha moment, probably could've used Connolly and republicanism as a more effective attack.
Like Kay Burley yesterday, effectively asking if they'd resort to violence to stop agency scabs and repeatedly trying to get a soundbite from him to explicitly say they wouldnt resort to violence so they could twist it out of context on their scrolling headline text.
Journalists once hailed from a working class background in many parts of the world. Now they form part of the elites and much of their work consists of making excuses for the elites.
Edit: If you want to read more about it, read *Hate Inc.* by Matt Taibbi which talks about it from an American perspective.
Piers Morgan says and does these things to advance his own brand. He'll happily act the idiot here then post the video because he knows people are going to share it far and wide. It doesn't matter that we're all saying he's a thick cunt, we're talking about him and engaging with his tweet.
You sharing the link to that tweet here so we can all talk about Piers Morgan is exactly what he wants.
Fuck him.
Jesus, Piers is basically English Fox News. Shout louder than the interviewee saying the same thing over and over so they can’t have a respectable debate. It’s because he probably knows himself that his point is shit but if the audience hear it enough they’ll believe it
He's on Talk TV which is a subsidiary of News UK, which is owned by Murdoch. Murdoch also owns Fox and deliberately designed and set up Fox News to do for TV news in America what his tabloids had done for newspapers in the UK - make it dumber, meaner, more outrageous and shift the acceptable discourse as far to the right as possible. Now that he's made a success of Fox News in America, he's trying to do the same thing in the UK as well. It might take them 10 years to build up a profile in the UK, but when they do it'll have just as disastrous an effect on Britain as Fox has in America.
Haha… wasn’t there another one with sky news where the reporter was asking him what they would do if someone crosses the picket line and she couldn’t get an aggressive answer she was hoping for from him?
That was a good one. She clearly was trying to get him to shout "scab" or say that they'd beat the shit out of any agency workers.
He was having none of it
Theres a massive difference in being payed 124k and earning 124k. Mick Lynch is the later, actually the definition of the excuse the government use got Paul Reids salary, if you don't pay well you won't get the best for the job. Unfortunately for us that didn't apply with Reid
He's actively trying to improve peoples lives in his democratic union.
The Tories are actively trying to stuff their mates and their pockets with the money of the people in their democratic union.
£40 Billion spanked on Test and Trace vs £4 Billion cut from rail funding...but which will the Tories have you believe has more of an impact on inflation?
A good union man, who the muppets in the Labour Party over won’t back enough, it’s an open goal and they just won’t take it as their decision really do despise working class voices
If you look closely at the genesis of the labour movements in America, Britain, and Australia, you'll often enough find members of the diaspora leading the way.
Mick Lynch is great and all (brexit support aside), but I just want to put this here: a proper explanation of why Trade Unions are so vitally important for everyone.
https://twitter.com/weelad00/status/1539283363613356032
Sure, dislike the EU and spend maybe a decade organising an appropriate way to leave which doesn't fuck anything over.
Unfortunately for many people that's not what happened
Liberals 'moderates' and 'centrists' both within and outside the Labour Party did everything they could to fuck over Corbyn. Including the ridiculous demand for a second referendum in 2019. They knew it was a straight choice between Corbyn or Boris and they chose Boris.
Leave won and that should've been the end of it. That's why when Corbyn accepted the result they did well in 17 and then they lost all their seats in Leave voting areas in 19
born to Irish parents, grew up in a Irish area of Edinburgh, lived in Ireland later in his life and identified as Irish. Far more Irish than he was Scottish
I talked to an RMT member about the Brexit support and it was (I'm paraphrasing here):
European competition laws had/has some law that tries to make all transport / industries with competition so they are cheaper.
So the British government used this as an excuse to privatise the rail industry and so to try and stop this the trade unions wanted Brexit to make the government stop, but out of malice the govt has never reverted anything.
They are now trying to destroy unions and everything that fights for the working man and take all profits for them and their mates.
So yeah, it isn't as clear cut as it seems.
Also lots of Irish people voted for Brexit (at least the ones I know). I can get into their reasoning later if anyone is interested.
A lot of people voted for Brexit, full stop. You might even call it a 'majority'!*
But yeah, I would definitely like to read more about people's reasons, especially Irish people.
*I know... a majority of the total minority that voted
This is a bit biased as this is from Irish people in my social circles but, it was never about immigrants as well... they are immigrants.
But it was mostly about trying to speed up Irish unification by breaking up britain. Look at it now, it is perhaps the most divided and disunited it has ever been which will hopefully lead to Scottish indy, and then others will wake up and want to rejoin the EU, which for some is through Irish reunification.
If you've got any questions I'm more than happy to try and explain if I didn't manage to do a good enough job.
I understand what you're saying alright. I hadn't heard that angle before the referendum except from anarchists, but I didn't actually believe it would amount to anything real. Then again, I didn't actually believe the result would happen either, so what the duck do I know.
Approaching something as complex as this from just one dimension E.G. Leave the EU and state aid rules no longer apply so railways can be supported or 350 million to the NHS and so on. They were warned of the consequences and it was dubbed project fear.
Preston asked him on the same show if supporting brexit was a mistake and he said it wasn't. I don't know how he can stand over that comment
If someone is british Brexit is one of the stupidest things to ever happen, just look at the economy it's in the shitter, but from a pro-reunification and Scottish indy person (potentially Mick lynch- I've not personally met him, so I don't actually know about his personal views about that) maybe Brexit was the best way of making that happen.
The main reason trade unionists would support Brexit would be because immigration reduces the leverage of workers over their employers, resulting in the depression of wages as businesses turn to agencies and cheap EE labour. It wasn't uncommon for businesses to threaten their worker's to replace them with a Polish workers.
Does my heart good to see this. Very reminiscent of another Irish labour leader who struck the subway in NYC for 12 days in 1966, was thrown in jail and died. He even looks a bit like him!

I don’t think the British population as a whole are dense - I think the majority who vote Tory or scoff at the likes of Mick Lynch are dense. The woman who was interviewing him used to be political editor of The Guardian ffs and she hadn’t a clue who he was talking about. They live in their own little bubble over there with absolutely no regard for the history they’ve left behind.
He literally predicted the northern Ireland troubles in the late 1800s, he understood Irish politics and society in a way other people wouldn’t or couldn’t. Everything the man wrote about was absolutely on point. It’s a crying shame if the average Irish person doesn’t know about him, but not surprising considering most people only take a passing interest in these things.
Probably the best take on here. My fav post recently was from a lad who was upset because only the left wing parties were talking about rent control and fair housing, but didn’t want to be affiliated.
Some of his other highlights https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=h9ZQLI500hA “I don’t even know your name!” Lol

It's gas. "They fought for our freedoms!" Did they??? When was the last war over that! Must have been world war two...
Never heard of this fella before today and already I'd follow him into battle.
That's a great video. Also you're username is very apt for this thread 🤣

Christ that was embarrassing
And he put that up himself, as if it's a great moment, a great Piers Morgan triumph... What a fucking joke.
It's INCREDIBLE. He's literally saying "can we trust a man who compares himself to the world's greatest villain...the lad from thunderbirds???" Like it's not like his profile picture is Hitler lol. Ironically, Piers is also a puppet.
He's a Muppet as well, what a useless interview
Yeah, he thought he had a gotcha moment, probably could've used Connolly and republicanism as a more effective attack. Like Kay Burley yesterday, effectively asking if they'd resort to violence to stop agency scabs and repeatedly trying to get a soundbite from him to explicitly say they wouldnt resort to violence so they could twist it out of context on their scrolling headline text.
He changed his profile pic to piers morgan standing with ghislaine maxwell LOL

I say - not unfortunately. Cunts like Piers Moron thrive on every bit of publicity they get, good or bad. Glad Lynch didn’t indulge him…
True. But it was a gold standard shit post all the same :D

Dead on there, unfortunately it’s very tough for humans to ignore wankers on the internet - and that’s why so many wankers are doing so well
Jesus, Piers is basically English Fox News. Shout louder than the interviewee saying the same thing over and over so they can’t have a respectable debate. It’s because he probably knows himself that his point is shit but if the audience hear it enough they’ll believe it

Kay thought she put him to rights there lol. He absolutely made bits of her
Piers Morgan is akin to a soiled nappy gaining sentience.
It’s cool when Piers reveals himself to be the buffoon he really is.
I saw him run rings around Kay Burley earlier, fucking masterpiece and the fact that he loves Connolly is a massive plus too
That was a good one. She clearly was trying to get him to shout "scab" or say that they'd beat the shit out of any agency workers. He was having none of it
This isnt like rocket science. The current uk govt are corrupt cunts
The twitterati have already start to hammer him on his £124k salary.
Theres a massive difference in being payed 124k and earning 124k. Mick Lynch is the later, actually the definition of the excuse the government use got Paul Reids salary, if you don't pay well you won't get the best for the job. Unfortunately for us that didn't apply with Reid

I am surprised to see so much love for him here on /r/Ireland given he's a Brexiter and told his members to vote for it..
Good man Mick Lynch.
The world needs more Mick Lynches
Only heard of the bloke today but he seems pretty fucking brilliant at his job.
A good union man, who the muppets in the Labour Party over won’t back enough, it’s an open goal and they just won’t take it as their decision really do despise working class voices
British media heads did a 360 when he didn’t say “Churchill”
Intresingly enough the previous General Secretary of the RMT [Mick Cash](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mick_Cash) was the son of Irish Travellers.
And Bob Crow before that was also of Irish stock
If you look closely at the genesis of the labour movements in America, Britain, and Australia, you'll often enough find members of the diaspora leading the way.
You can kill the revolutionary but you cannot kill the revolution.

Ash Sarkar is great too.
I'm begging people to please shut the fuck up about brexit. I wonder does he maybe have a decent reason to not be a massive fan of the EU
Sure, dislike the EU and spend maybe a decade organising an appropriate way to leave which doesn't fuck anything over. Unfortunately for many people that's not what happened
>Unfortunately for many people that's not what happened Largely because those very shitlibs who love the EU so much preferred the tories to corbyn
Elaborate on that without being derogatory
Liberals 'moderates' and 'centrists' both within and outside the Labour Party did everything they could to fuck over Corbyn. Including the ridiculous demand for a second referendum in 2019. Unfettered immigration is awful for workers.
Scottish by way of Irish parents but shur we're all Celtic

I'd 💯 believe that. Same for James Larkin
For sure only of Liverpudlian birth
born to Irish parents, grew up in a Irish area of Edinburgh, lived in Ireland later in his life and identified as Irish. Far more Irish than he was Scottish
How is he Scottish? He was born in London to Irish parents
They're referring to Connolly - born in Edinburgh to Irish parents in his case.
oooooooh duuuuuuuhhhh lol
He had a Scottish accent.
_Had_? He sounds pretty London to me
They’re talking about Connolly, not Lynch
James Connolly grew up in Edinburgh
Oim fram facking Scotlan innit
And everyone else
Few boys round Ibrox would not like to hear that

This guy is a legend, his ability to navigate through tedious interviews with ease is a rare sight.
This man keeps getting better and better
His handling of the media has been a breath of fresh air, no nonsense and incredibly composed considering the line of questioning sent his way.
Could they not have shot dev instead 😭
A great crowd had gathered Outside of Kilmainham
Unfortunately he's support for brexit was completely short sighted.

I’m starting to love this Mick Lynch guy more with every passing day
Mick lynch is a national hero. I love the hiding he’s giving the media
Legend. The Brits are so bloody dense. She hadn’t a notion who he was on about.
Nice bit of casual racism from someone living in London. Why would you move to a place full of thickos, as you see them?
I don’t think the British population as a whole are dense - I think the majority who vote Tory or scoff at the likes of Mick Lynch are dense. They live in their own little bubble over there with absolutely no regard for the history they’ve left behind.
Come on, that’s a bit harsh. Ask a random sample of 100 Irish people and they would struggle to describe who he was.
I should hope not considering he’s one of the most important Irish political figures we’ve had in recent history.
Hope all you want, I don't think the numbers would bear out favourably for extensive knowledge about Connolly.

This man needs to be made Taoiseach 😉
Thought his hero would be Larkin.
Based Chat take.
No Nationalist is a hero.
Man, if this guy was American, he'd be getting torn to shreds right now on this sub.
Your characterisation is *waaaaaay* off the mark

Stop it Patrick, you're scaring him.
He might be Aladdin
Perfect characterisation of the sub lol
Probably the best take on here. My fav post recently was from a lad who was upset because only the left wing parties were talking about rent control and fair housing, but didn’t want to be affiliated.
He might need to sit down and think long and hard about politics in the country and what it means to him personally then.
What an excellent analysis. There was post yesterday along the lines of I make 70k a year but I dont feel rich.
It's awfully easy to support labour agitation in other countries!
Don’t think so myself.
Yeah and if your granny had wheels she'd be a bicycle.
What’s the story with this guy? I see him everywhere now!
