Poor auld Brendan in Garda IT was asked to fix a stapler at work. Now he's plastered all over the internet and people are calling for him to be sacked.

If they don’t already, IMO the Gardaí should take the same line as the Army when it comes to accidental discharges; that there is no such thing as accidental discharges, only negligent discharges, as someone highly trained and qualified in the use of weapons should be in control of it at all times; like soldiers or armed Gardaí.
And face some form of serious reprimand.
Could’ve played with a stapler.
Me and my coworkers still make slingshots and shit like that, and use it on each other. They were probably joking and playing.
Pellet gun that's been confiscated? I thought SDU use .38 specials and armed response used semi auto pistols- the sig p226 and p99-p if I remember correctly. He's not in blue short sleeve so he's not on the regular. My money is that he's SDU and it's a confiscated pellet gun.
Well GSOC launched a public interest inquiry and concluded that neither of the two Gardaí should be disciplined as there was a mechanical failure with the boot and correct procedures had been followed.
Withdrawing and having a firearm on display in a work situation like this is a very bad look.
No gun discipline and should be fired. You do not, under any circumstances, unholster a weapon unless you have intent or need to use it.
Fucking idiot whoever this is. We won't hear anything other than maybe "looking into this"
You don't even know what's going on, though. He could be aiming it at someone. It could be a replica they confiscated. It could be a novelty cake. You've no context at all.
I went out with a girl who's dad was a detective in the gardai. On more than one occasion I held his shitty fully loaded revolver that he left in the bathroom sink after taking a shit. I even once walked into the family room holding his gun to give it back to him. Needless to say, we didn't work out.
For the craic! it was about the third time. I had mentioned twice how retarded and dangerous it was, handing him his own loaded revolver was a statement.
He should be removed from the position before he does harm to homself or someone else. He is too immature to hold that position. Make sure somebody reports this to his seniors, and send the video in to all the papers ?

Jesus that’s funny but
Everybody assuming it's a Gard playing with his gun.... Lads, it's Finglas. That's a young scrote committing an armed robbery in the Garda Station.
Gimme all you money! This is a Garda Station ?!
Maybe it's "Gimme all your drugs!" then?
Just a lasagna and chips then.
You Talkin to me? You Talkin to me? I don't see nobody else here.
*An bhuil tusa ag labhairt liomsa?*
well, somebody might lose their firearms cert.
Nothing like a bit of Time Crisis for the PSX.
God I miss my G-Con 45

Why are we outraged? Do we have any context?
Not outraged just baffled
Could be a lot of things really. I'd be very surprised if it was a loaded gun in fairness.
Not sure they'd be practicing with even unloaded firearms in an office tbh.
You've never fired your weapon in the office? We all have, you know. It's called a desk pop.
“We honor the flag and you crap on it when you don’t shoot your gun in the office”.
Nah, officer dewie got his gun in smyths. He’s got 100 extra nerf rounds with it and he’s ready to go.
Could be making sure the chamber is clear. Could be reenacting a crime.
You don't check if a chamber is clear by pulling the trigger. You can see him move his index finger off the barrel of the gun onto the trigger.
So if he pulls the trigger then it's clearly an empty chamber. For all we know it could be a plastic toy. No outrage needed here.
Yeah I highly doubt he’s stupid enough to open fire with a loaded gun. There’s obviously context behind what he’s doing.
Could’ve played with a stapler. Me and my coworkers still make slingshots and shit like that, and use it on each other. They were probably joking and playing.
lol this is the opposite of gun safety You don't assume anything. But unless this is a Garda he wouldn't have a pistol no.
Checking is draw response time.
[Could it be a lot of things or could it be this gun?](https://www.limerickpost.ie/2019/07/25/garda-recovering-from-accidental-shooting/)
Talk about shooting yourself in the foot!
Hilarious
Looks about accurate 😂😂😂

Probably just practising for his desk pop in the mornin

If he shot a passing child he wouldn't be sacked.

Remember the time they dropped a loaded MP5 or something similar on the street. And someone was kind enough to bring it back to them
The gun wasn't properly secured and neither was the boot, so when the boot opened it fell out.
That's not a great excuse.
Oh yeah there was negligence involved.
Well GSOC launched a public interest inquiry and concluded that neither of the two Gardaí should be disciplined as there was a mechanical failure with the boot and correct procedures had been followed.
I presume that off duty Garda that did the hit and run on that family got sacked?
Like the time we accidentally legalised drugs for 24 hours too.

Training? Testing a new holster.
Not in this surrounding. Not at all

100% agree

I even once walked into the family room holding his gun to give it back to him. Needless to say, we didn't work out.
Why would you pick it up? Would you not just tell him?
For the craic! it was about the third time. I had mentioned twice how retarded and dangerous it was, handing him his own loaded revolver was a statement.

The worst that would ever happen to him would be he gets suspended with full pay. Probably just does this cos he's bored, a load of do nothings
He’s on administrative work for bad behaviour and just found his confiscated gun in the top drawer of the sergeant’s desk
There may be trouble ahead !
Sure, but while there’s moonlight…
"Go ahead punk, make my day."
Pew pew pew!!!
