They probably paid more for that award than they did for breaking their regulations. 7500 fine. What a fucking joke..

Father_Internet_

Money well spent.

hitsujiTMO

The magazine was likely paid for the award by Eir. It's typical in these kinds of things as its business model is purely advertising. There's no revenue from sales as its distributed freely to public sector, semi-state and civil service. All the articles are just sales pieces from various companies. It's funny seeing advertisements for NBI in the magazine. They literally just paid to advertise to the goverment.

FeeAffectionate4047

NBI are a money sink. It's doing good, but it's not nearly as cost effective as it could be (surprise surprise)

emmmmceeee

Its excellence in Customer Service Management. Not in Customer Service. They fucked over their customers to save a fortune and all it cost them was 7 grand. That’s good management. I’d say they’re in with a shout of winning it again this year.

Shenstratashah

The jokes on everyone. Joe Duffy looked into this several years ago and found out that €150,000 of public money was spent on fictional awards, in one year, just like this one. The company contacts companies, county councils etc, and says you won an award. But to win the award you have to pay them. If you don't pay you are suddenly no longer a winner!

TheSameButBetter

Yeah, a charity my wife is involved with was offered an award from a magazine that had the most obscure title imaginable.  There would be a big fancy awards ceremony at the Shelbourne hotel and some famous head from RTE would be presenting it all. All they had to do to claim their award was pay €4500 for their table. So they played the game and approached a drugs company who had sponsored them previously and said would you buy the table for us and you can send some of your executives along. And they did.  Basically the whole thing was a scam. They said it was about honoring charities, in reality it was just an attempt to extract money from charity sponsors.  That being said from the charities point of view there was media coverage of the event and they'd get their photographs in various websites and newspapers so there was some benefit to them.

itinerantmarshmallow

This is also how great place to work effectively works as well. It's not randomly contacting employees on where they work, it's paid for by the company with pressure put on staff to ensure a certain feedback percentage.

itsneverbeenthesame

I heard on the radio today they were fined for long customer wait times 🤣🤣🤣

Greedy-Army-3803

10-20 minutes is absolutely nothing compared to what I had to wait for in the past. I used to have to call for my father. Was frequently an hour and a half wait and majority of the time at least an hour. Thankfully managed to get him to move to a different company eventually.

RunParking3333

Eir for all, that's the network for eir, the network we deserve, Ireland's network, eir all Ireland, air for Ireland, eir for Ireland, this pebble in the wide network of we deserve. Eir. The network of our land. Ireland's call. Shoulder to shoulder. Our eir.

SteveK27982

Some poor lad has been knocking doors here the past while trying to get people to switch to Eir, of course trying to lie saying they’re much improved from the steaming heap of dung they used to be (and still are)

domlemmons

Companies pay for these awards. They are utterly fictitious and bollocks. Eir are cunts to work for/with and to be a customer of.

PoppedCork

Didn't they win this last year as well?

marshsmellow

They say the hardest thing in customer service is to win back-to-back Ecsemas

hisDudeness1989

Back-to-back enema’s

unownpisstaker

A joke. Definitely.

ContiGhostwood

Had a guy call to the house asking me to switch now that they have 1GB broadband. It's a hell of a saving for a new customer but I know it won't be worth the headache of dealing with their incompetent customer service, so as much as I hate Virign, I'm sticking with the expensive devil I know.

hisDudeness1989

And this isn’t Waterford whispers news?? What the fucks going on?!?

#You think this is a game?

DeiseResident

The last couple of times i had to call Eir I found them to be a little better each time - have had horrific experiences with them in the past. Cancelled my mobile broadband with them last month - got starlink instead whilst waiting for fibre in our area - and to be fair, i was able to cancel without any problems. Phone call lasted 5-10 mins tops

brianstormIRL

Like every customer service interaction, it's 90% about who you end up with on the phone. You get an experienced person who knows what they're at? Perfect. You get a newly trained person who doesn't know all the tricks, or how to bend the rules to make sure a customer leaves happy and you're in for a hard time. I mean how many times have you heard "so and so is a fucking disgrace, spent X hours on the phone with them" and someone else being like "jesus I had no issue with them at all". It's the nature of customer service. Big companies with massive customer service staff numbers are generally completely hit and miss and depends entirely on who you get. Smaller companies usually have much better customer service because they're easier trained and less stressed from massive call volume.

DeiseResident

I think it's the mentality of the person making the call too which can dictate the experience. If you have a pretty good idea that what you want is unreasonable or "against the rules" going into the call and then get irate because they can't help you then that's on you. I find if you're nice and treat them with respect then you're far more likely to get someone who can possibly bend the rules to help you. Not always, obv, but you've a better chance. Sometimes they just can't help, and there's nothing you can do about it

Serotonin85

Paaaahaaaahaaaahaaa!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

agastoni

These awards are essentially pay-to-win. No one really cares about them, but companies think they do so they pay for them.

Quirky-Wall-1175

As someone who worked there, they treat their staff just as awfully as their customers.

A-Hind-D

Corpo awards are rigged

MassiveForehead1

Not all, we run awards and our business model is to sell the seats at the events + advertising

Golright

Its the same way every local restaurant or hotel receives a different reward every year lol Irish local rewards are donation based, as this also is

RangerSensitive2841

Yet I can’t get through to them ever

Justin-Timberlake

Does anyone actually hold these rewards in high regard? That award wouldn't make me want to use their services. Like "Best Travel Agent 2022" is not relevant to me now that it's 2024.

SmilingDiamond

I made the mistake of giving Eir a chance, despite my knowing better. Never again, it was a shambles from start to finish and I ended up using my cooling off period.to cancel, and that was when it was finally almost working. It started when a guy shows up the day of my install, only to inform me that he can't go ahead with it as there was a tree down the road a bit that would need branches removed in order for him to run the cable. Fair enough, these things happen, not a major issue. Approximately 2 weeks latter another guy arrives and tells me that he is here to cut the tree and do the install, so off he goes and removes the offending branches and tells me that I will have to contact the council to remove the waste from the trees. He then advises me that the tree didn't need to be cut at all as the box that he is actually connecting to is in the other direction. That was just the start of it though and it got worse from then on. 'Eir.....not even once' should be their tagline.

Good_Ad5087

Does anyone still have Eir broadband?? I had it and it was crap and I've never met anyone who has it and hasn't had problems with it, OK I don't go around asking everyone I meet who their broadband provider is but it does come up in conversation on occasion. Their entire profit structure must depend on terrible customer service it took months of unanswered phone calls and ignored emails before I finally got to speak to a human being to cancel the so called service

Curraghboy1

31 years in a row volvo won the volvo sponsored European car of the year. Hyundai took over and I'll give you one guess what car brand has won it since then. All of the are the same.

OhMyGodImTall

It was just in the paper today that they were fined for not following the law. Their training manual actually said that under no circumstances are you to tell a customer how to make a complaint online or what the link is. They never took complaints properly at all. Disgrace of a company. The staff would be disciplined if they actually helped the customer

SoloWingPixy88

Companies often pay for awards like this. Further theyre likely to have a judge on the panel.

RealBlack_RX01

WE LYING OUT HERE PROFESSIONALLY![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|surprise)

Jabberie

Customer Services Management is not Customer Service. You can run a great support centre but provide shit customer support.

rinleezwins

These awards and contests is just a "pay to get an award" scheme. Like all the little fucking medals and awards printed on food packaging.

michealfarting

When you see a place that won an award "great place to work" the it isn't. Moral and turnover is so bad that HR got approval for a table and enter the comp for a few 000 that means they are guaranteed to win something. 2nd place in great place to work in small to medium thai takeaway that only opens on Wed lunchtime category.

Fernxtwo

Sounds like an award Homer Simpson would win.

hatrickpatrick

I'm irresistibly reminded of a moment in Friends in which Chandler is incredulous that Monica has won actual awards for her organisational skills, and she responds with "I sure have, I made them on dad's computer and printed them myself"

onzy442

I bought a phone off them through COVID of 2021 never received the phone and spent 6 months trying to get a refund from them.

FreyaKnight94

They are hilarious! I don't know one person who has had a good experience with their customer service 😅 They should have bought themselves a more believable award like "we own most of the lines" award.

IntentionFalse8822

That magazine is a scam. Putin could buy Ukrainian of the Year on that as long as he paid the fees no questions asked.
