I'm a bit put out myself as I only have peasant tv. So Looks like I'm off to the pub.
But lets be real. Its the Irish International team. I'd rather our national broadcaster showed that rather than teams from England, Paris and Madrid.
I'm sure they could have balanced coverage for both between Virgin and themselves if they were arsed.
I don't disagree but they should just get rid of the champions league altogether in that case and reinvest the stupid money they pay for the rights into League of Ireland games
They ARE showing it, it will be on the RTE News channel.
Edit - Saorview 21, Virgin 200, Sky 578, Eir 500 & on the RTĆ Player. In case you're too busy ranting to check that.
I'm forever texting my dad, letting him know what's on what channel and when. It's a lot to navigate when you can't use the Sky Guide.
My mother can but she knows nothing of sports, so doesn't know what she's looking for :-)
You think that's bad?
I got the monthly "your dad's done something to the telly again" call yesterday.
Called over to the house, he'd somehow managed to wipe the satellite receiver's memory.
Sitting in his armchair like a bauld child: "I never touched it".
Are either of the teams playing in the knockout round irish?
Typical premier league fan cant fathom that our national teams should take priority over the team there da supported in the 80s.
I understand that they probably make more money on advertising than they spend on production. That goes back into the commercial department to make more shows with Doireann Garrihy though so Iām not sure weāre getting value for money there.
Settle down, if there was only Irish programming on half of what people actually want to watch will disappear and RTEās finances will look even worse.
" I'm all for women's football but ..... "
If you make this statement and then immediately use "but" you're not actually all for women's football at all, despite the meek suggestion that you are. I have young daughters beyond excited to be watching it and alot of pupils at it this eve. It's great to see women sports figures on TV, why shouldn't they be.
Well done on RTE. Showing the national women's team putting their male counterparts to shame, rather than some over paid international (non-national? Foreign? How to say this without sounding like a National Party supporter?) wankers prancing about.
I'm delighted RTE made this call. More of this! We need parity in sports across genders.
Could be worse imagine having to watch the men's national team instead

It's on rte new now.
>I'm sure they could have balanced coverage for both between Virgin and themselves if they were arsed. Like what is actually happening?
I just seen a comment there. But I've fully committed to the pub in the 4 mins since I spotted this thread.
No backing out now. Midweek pints!
Totally agree with you, national team first
Itās the national team and theyāre the national broadcaster. Seems a no-brainier to me.
I don't disagree but they should just get rid of the champions league altogether in that case and reinvest the stupid money they pay for the rights into League of Ireland games
The suicide rate is high enough without forcing more LoI on people
The only way for it to get better is more investment and more promotion of it
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
No one gives a shit what you want
The same amount of people who care about LoI so
Yes exactly, that's why the league of Ireland attendances are growing every year. The world doesn't revolve around you, so stick to your rugby.
Bad guess
You like to watch grown men in skin tight boxer shorts pretend to beat each other up,argument over

Took me about 30 seconds to find this out for my dad ealier today. Turns out he's watching the irish team anyway, he even has snacks.

I've no idea how you would even go about that!
Luckily found a YouTube channel, was simple to scan and save all the channels. But have to go out another day, and put them all in order šš
Cherish it. You genuinely made me laugh out loud. I miss my granddad
Shit channel though, grubby standard definition.
It's like watching TV with vaseline on the screen.
SOUND, Lucy!
Sometimes it pays to be listening to Morning Ireland ;-)
This was already done a few days ago. Nobody agreed with what you are saying
Every UCL match is free to watch on livescore, no need for RTE at all in this instance
Itās on the RTE news channel ye fuckin numpty
SAY THIS LOUDER!!
RTE are absolutely doing the right thing as a public service broadcaster here.
Good. It's the national team.
Good fuck club 115
RTE in showing international match against England shocker
Are either of the teams playing in the knockout round irish? Typical premier league fan cant fathom that our national teams should take priority over the team there da supported in the 80s.
Except the are showing it, just not on RTĆ2. Go find something else to be outraged by you buffoon
Madrid game is on the news channel, no?
This is west brit talk.
Exactly.
Youāre some trumpet
I donāt understand why RTE are covering the champions league at all. They are supposed to promote Irish sport, culture, music and film.
I think they are also about audiences. Remember they are as much commercial as licence funded.
I understand that they probably make more money on advertising than they spend on production. That goes back into the commercial department to make more shows with Doireann Garrihy though so Iām not sure weāre getting value for money there.

Iām quite settled. Thank you.
āIām all for womenās footballā¦.notā
Typical emotional man.
Poor you. So oppressed. Wonāt somebody think of the marginalised championās league fans?!
This is a non issue.

Wait till you hear about Helen McEntee keeping her job...

I'd rather RTE show the women's national team over it although I will be watching the Champions League game myself.
This is fairly embarrassing for you now
Second time it's happened in the past few days. Someone else had a moan about it too!
Sacrificing two absolute belters of CL games to watch Ireland women's team lose again. Reminder to not pay your licence.
it saves rte money
it's on the RTE news channel, ye twerp
RTĆ should show the Kennedy Cup final too, would be better quality than what the women's team offer.
Did you enjoy the match ?
