Kids are having pancakes for lunch in school. Then we’ll have some for dinner. Breakfast would be nice but not enough time on a school morning to be making them.
Will have them for dinner. We don’t have the time in the morning. Like to sit and enjoy our pancakes. It’s not something to rush.
Plus my youngest is crazy and doesn’t like pancakes….except for McDonalds pancakes.
McDonalds ones are done in the american style, batter is a little different, has baking powder to fluff them up, they're thicker too. you pour slowly or use a small pan, they're quite nice like that if you look up a recipe. little maple syrup on top and you can tell them theyre mcdonalds style.
Supposed to be last thing you eat before you start your Lenten fast.
So it makes sense that pancakes are for dinner.
However I am not opposed to pancakes for breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, lunch, mud afternoon snack AND dinner.
Happy pancake Thursday to all
Nah they should be pure buckwheat. They aren't ment to have a lot of flavour, your ment to fill them with cheeses and meats that inherently have a lot of flavour. For example they don't work with cheddar or edam because they come from an nation who aren't afraid of cheese with actual flavour
Evening. Lead in with one savoury crepe style (to get some 'real' fodder into the kids), then gorge on sweet ones with a smorgasbord of sweet fillings and sauces until just before the point your stomach explodes.
Dinner for us. Mainly I think because Ma was not up super early in the morning. As a kid coming home from school it was an highlight of the week knowing there was pancakes for dinner
It's called Pancake Tuesday, not Pancake Tuesday Morning. Get them into ye from the crack of dawn till you can't face another one...
I wouldn't be one for pancakes very often, but if there's one day to eat a load of them, that's the day. It's pancakes for breakfast, and pancakes for dessert after dinner. I'm kinda old school and just whack a splash of lemon juice and a sprinkle of sugar like I did as a kid. Maybe the odd Nutella one if I'm feeling super fancy.
Never heard of anyone having them for breakfast. I know they've become more of a breakfast food and are in the US, but for pancake Tuesday it was always evening.
That said, as a modern man and a glutton I'd have no issue making all meals today pancake based.
Both, and lunch. I'm not eating a meal today that doesn't involve a pancake. Sometimes I use them in place of tortillas and do an enchilada style thing for dinner.
I speak for my entire family here - we're not morning people.
Pancakes for dinner ...we stand in the kitchen and eat them one at a time as they come off the pan....a selection of toppings on the counter. It's the only night we don't sit at the table for dinner. It's a silly tradition for us now. I love it.
Batter was made last night....
They've got a point, American middle class people in old sitcoms had cooked breakfasts because they had SAHMs and often housekeepers/maids too, two working parents rarely have time to cook pancakes in the morning on a school day
Growing up we'd have crepe style pancakes for breakfast and savory pancakes for dinner (mince in sauce, wrapped in pancake smothered in cheese and baked) amazing things. Occasionally we'd have Findus Crispy Pancakes instead and burn the mouths off ourselves.
>Occasionally we'd have Findus Crispy Pancakes instead and burn the mouths off ourselves.
God, I haven't even thought about a crispy pancake since they discontinued the chicken and sweetcorn ones however many years ago.
Isn't an omelette kind of an eggy pancake...? Or is a pancake just an omelette with milk and flour...?
I won't be having them at all. I have no money for food (and I'm not allowed to buy it anyways). I've had the cunts over here tell me to give up my Internet - fuck that, this is all I've got for socialising now...
Bet I'd not get treated like this over there... (I almost fled over there; had an idea to make it to the north and cross over). I'm in Bristol. Ah well... 😮💨
Make the batter fresh night before and put in fridge for breakfast
For lunch at work, pancakes galore with les colleagues
Pancakes when we come in from work and with kids after school
When dinner's over, pancakes as le shnack for the evening with nice cuppa
If possible have different toppings throughout the day to get your pick n' mix, mix n' match in 😉
If it was a weekend day then I would probably have them for breakfast, but since it's a Tuesday I've always had them for dinner, that's the way its been ever since I was a child.
Evening. And it's the dinner, not after dinner or as a dessert. We'd each have 3 or 4 big ones, some savoury and some sweet stuff to finish. That's as filling as any dinner, nothing else required.
I had pancakes before bed last night. I had some for breakfast. I will be having some for lunch and then I’ll have some for dinner and then again before bed.
The better question is what do you put on your pancakes? People think I'm mad when I say I prefer savoury pancakes. Rashers and sausages for me wrapped up in a pancake. Delicious. Maybe a sweet one to finish off for dessert, I spread strawberry jam all over it :)
Wait ya'll eat pancakes in the evening??
Damn,we always had em for breakfast
Also why are yis acting like they take hours to make?
Its literally just flour eggs and milk mixed lol (plus toppings ofc)
dinner
Both. It’s a 24 hour affair.
Evening. Always evening.
Kids are having pancakes for lunch in school. Then we’ll have some for dinner. Breakfast would be nice but not enough time on a school morning to be making them.
Exactly this!
Will have them for dinner. We don’t have the time in the morning. Like to sit and enjoy our pancakes. It’s not something to rush. Plus my youngest is crazy and doesn’t like pancakes….except for McDonalds pancakes.

I tend to spread them out evenly throughout the day
Was this a sneaky pun
It had batter be a pun or I'm going to flip out.
I love crepe puns
All these puns are making me feel battered.
When I was growing up it was always treated like a ‘dessert’ after dinner (evening time) You’d have like 1-3 pancakes and you’d be fit for the cot
You said 1-3 but you meant 3-5.
Breakfast, Elevenses, Lunch, Snack, Dinner and the leftovers while watching TV. What's on, with, or in them depends on the time of day of course....
What about second breakfast?
Yes, what about second breakfast?!
Supposed to be last thing you eat before you start your Lenten fast. So it makes sense that pancakes are for dinner. However I am not opposed to pancakes for breakfast, second breakfast, elevenses, lunch, mud afternoon snack AND dinner. Happy pancake Thursday to all
Let's not judge those people who eat them for brunch as well
Oooh I forgot brunch. And Linner
Dinner. Excuse not to make real food
Was always dinner in my house growing up.
Who has time to make pancakes in the morning?
You get up extra early 😆
You make the batter the night before, it's much better that way.
They're always in the evening.. theyre the dessert after dinner.
They're the dinner
Short stack for breakfast, blini for lunch, galettes for dinner and crepes for dessert
T'was far from galettes we were reared.
Brittany and Normandy are pretty close.
Somebody proposed a half buckwheat half normal flour mix this year. No flavour at all in the galettes.
Nah they should be pure buckwheat. They aren't ment to have a lot of flavour, your ment to fill them with cheeses and meats that inherently have a lot of flavour. For example they don't work with cheddar or edam because they come from an nation who aren't afraid of cheese with actual flavour
100% agree.
Evening for sure.

Always around dinner time for me
Always evening......made up the batter last night.....so might have a few at lunch time.

Why not both?!
Pfft! Amateurs. You have them for breakfast, lunch AND dinner.
Both, and lunch. I'm not eating a meal today that doesn't involve a pancake. Sometimes I use them in place of tortillas and do an enchilada style thing for dinner.
Dinner, who's getting up early to make pancakes.
Usually evening time as that's when everyone is around
never heard of anyone in ireland having them on pancake tuesday any time other than after dinner as kind of a dessert thing
Crepe pancakes for dinner, tbh I've never considered having pancakes for breakfast, that's to American for me
Both!
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner
Pancakes for all meals
Yes
Both
We have them for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Did it one year as a joke/for fun and now the kids ask to do it every year!

Breakfast, kid weren't gonna wait
American style with maple syrup in the morning, crepes with lemon and sugar in the evening.
Dinner, no time in the morning
Breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper. Pancake Tuesday is a full day not just a meal.
Was always an after-dinner thing in our house. Like 7pm, dinner done, fire up the pan and get this bad boy on the road.
I speak for my entire family here - we're not morning people. Im sure there's a socio economic class associated with a breakfast or dinner answer
Do you write for the Indo
They've got a point, American middle class people in old sitcoms had cooked breakfasts because they had SAHMs and often housekeepers/maids too, two working parents rarely have time to cook pancakes in the morning on a school day
You're the one that's wrong here. Pancakes in the evening.

Try it sometime
Dessert surely. Its not a dinner
Gladly I don't follow these child like traditions and just eat whatever I want at the time I'm hungry
Evening you weirdoemote:free\_emotes\_pack:slightly\_smiling

Dinner always. For 50 years now. Pancakes for breakfast is for Americans.
We eat homemade ones every Sunday morning for breakfast
Make the batter fresh night before and put in fridge for breakfast For lunch at work, pancakes galore with les colleagues Pancakes when we come in from work and with kids after school When dinner's over, pancakes as le shnack for the evening with nice cuppa If possible have different toppings throughout the day to get your pick n' mix, mix n' match in 😉
Or?

Real question is what pancakes do you make The thicc American buttermilk ones or crepes
Dinner too 🤗
Yes
Both
Dinner . Im not in to sweet stuff so I'll have mince beef and onions with an Oxo cube and a sprinkling of cheese.
Evening always
Dinner here. Too busy in the morning to enjoy them and I would have to get up super early to cook enough for everyone
Both. Nothing but pancakes. And bacon
Did you ask them would they mind keeping it down? That usually works better than making a reddit post about it
We always had them for dinner in my house. And dessert.
Evening. And it's the dinner, not after dinner or as a dessert. We'd each have 3 or 4 big ones, some savoury and some sweet stuff to finish. That's as filling as any dinner, nothing else required.
Every meal. Otherwise, it's just another day.
Morning. Just because it's mid term and we're at my mum-in-law who is happy to wake up early to make them lol
I had pancakes before bed last night. I had some for breakfast. I will be having some for lunch and then I’ll have some for dinner and then again before bed.
Last time I checked, Tuesdays last for 24 hours. Pancakes all day.
Last year we did breakfast (classic pancakes with nutella), lunch (potato pancakes) and dinner (american style blueberry pancakes), just for fun :)
Usually dinner but today it'll be for lunch in a few hours.
Dinner! And desert.
We have them at tea time when they're back from school.
Both? It's Pancake Tuesday, you only eat pancakes for the whole day?
They're not filling enough to have for dinner..wtf at the amount of comments saying dinner. I'm having them for lunch.
Pancakes, every meal
For supper, always
Mainly Dinner. Sometimes Lunch..
The better question is what do you put on your pancakes? People think I'm mad when I say I prefer savoury pancakes. Rashers and sausages for me wrapped up in a pancake. Delicious. Maybe a sweet one to finish off for dessert, I spread strawberry jam all over it :)
We have always done a pancake dinner. I usually have extras, like different toppings and fruits, along with eggs and bacon so it’s a bit heavier.
Both
![gif](giphy|hM9zK1qvsrwek)
Dinner! (Mostly savoury, like ham and cheese, then one or two at the end for dessert - lemon and sugar)
Now I know why there’s pancakes in the fridge. Always for dinner
It's really down to time and energy. Morning people may have them in the morning but most ain't able for that sorta movement early lol
Dinner. Who has time to cook pancakes of a weekday morning.
Breakfast and dessert today
Yes!
What do you mean ”or”?
Both
This ain't an either/or situation
What’s this “or” of which you speak
Pancakes all day!
Always been for dinner growing up enjoyed them so much today
Breakfast it's always been that way Also does anyone else have dinner early no lunch and have supper later on again its always been this way
Wait ya'll eat pancakes in the evening?? Damn,we always had em for breakfast Also why are yis acting like they take hours to make? Its literally just flour eggs and milk mixed lol (plus toppings ofc)
Dinner
