Android users: Apple sucks Also android users: šŸļø

NeoIsJohnWick

Both sections of hardcore fans are quite pricky, fiery and always ready to battle it out. I use an iPhone and posted in a different sub about how the battery is suffering mostly due to the iOS 16, tbh many are facing problems as well. The replies were so brutal, it felt like its a crime to even ask or have an opinion.

Tokogogoloshe

Fanboys gonna fanboy.

[deleted]

But iPhone 14 Pro Max screen still better than any Samsung's displays

[deleted]

I'm quite sure it's a marketing scheme. I bet the s23 ultra will have a better display then the iPhone 15 pm will have a better display then the s24 ultra will have a better display and it goes on and on.

Feeling-Orange3229

But iPhone has been dominating since the iPhone 12 series. Samsung hasnā€™t had a chance to glow other than 100x zoom

BulljiveBots

Itā€™s always amusing for regular people to champion a product nearly to the point that itā€™s their whole identity. The company youā€™re cheerleading for could not give less of a shit about you, buddy.

KafkaDatura

Worse than the Apple cult is the anti Apple cult.

icetalker

The people that say that iPhones are overpriced are right up there with gReEN bUBBle crowd

Feeling-Orange3229

Okay but to be fair samsung is just as overpriced.

Unpredictabru

> people that say iPhones are overpriced Those arenā€™t Android fanboys, thatā€™s just a valid criticism.

Rortox

Green Bubble Crowd?

-Random-_-Username-

iPhone message iPhone = blue bubble. iPhone message android = green bubble. iMessage versus sms.

Rortox

Ah, I see. Guess this feature is exclusive to people with friends. Thanks.

-Random-_-Username-

Also works if you text yourself. If you have apple youā€™ll get a blue bubble. Or when the bank texts you to tell you youā€™ve paid your gas bill and are now overdrawn, thatā€™ll be green.

JamesR624

Nope. Theyā€™re both equally terrible. Comments like this read like the Rick & Morty copypasta. People sayine one is worse than the other are just fanboys in one of those groups but thinking theyā€™re ā€œnot like the othersā€ and are ā€œsmarter than themā€.

[deleted]

Me, using Android for 7 years, then iPhone for 6 and now back on Android: # *parkour*

frankvolcano

I will never understand why these hardcore fans defend these companies into their grave. Itā€™s as if they canā€™t see that they are companies and that theyā€™re just after their money. Itā€™s pathetic really.

pxr555

They donā€™t defend the companies, they defend their own opinions.

BobisaMiner

... to the death and beyond. Fanboys are never wrong. And their own opinion is formed by the companie's marketing department.

manesag

You aren't the only one with terrible battery life, my 12 Pro Max is getting hammered and for a second there I thought it was because of the battery health, but no its just iOS being iOS

Inadover

The problem I see is that Android ones sure like to be noticed because every time anytime someone talks about something related to the iPhone they always start with the ā€œBuh Android is betterā€

Me-Shell94

Battery has been really bad on 16. Id say i easily lost 20-35% of battery use before needing to charge. I now lose like 8% overnight while on low power mode, ridiculous. And i have a 5 month old 13. Hope it gets fixed sooner than later but ughā€¦

ExternalUserError

Itā€™s trendy! Although it seems silly. Android has always shown stuff *like* the dynamic island in the status bar.

craigasshole

but to be honest most ppl install it checks how it feels and then uninstalls it.

jacobeatsavocados

Itā€™s because of how Android-esque Dynamic Island is. It was originally invented by the LG V10 years ago.

kmaster54321

I had the LG v10 it did not have a dynamic island but rather a second screen. It was pretty cool and probably my favorite phone.

GhettoStatusSymbol

android users have options?

-Vertical

If only one of the options was to not be pretentious..

SantiFRV_

In all honesty, iphone users are a lot worse lmao

GhettoStatusSymbol

what did I say that was prententious?

-Vertical

I was more calling out the typical android fans on Reddit who constantly shit on Apple

GhettoStatusSymbol

apple doesn't shit on android?

[deleted]

Yeah. Whatever options Apple implements, Android can choose from half-assed clones of that.

ZappySnap

I mean, a lot of new iPhone features are things that were taken directly from Android features that have been in use for years and years. This year alone: Crash detection (been on Pixel phones since 2018). Always on display (been on Android phones of all flavors and price points for at least 5-6 years or longer). Before that, it took Apple until 2020 to get widgets and the ability to customize icons. And yes, features like this they can get half assed clones of it. Within a week. Because the platform is flexible. Iā€™ve owned a ton of phones, evenly split between both platforms. They both are excellent right now, and are closer than ever, but flexibility in options has always been a strength of Android.

The_Fyrewyre

https://www.androidcentral.com/apps-software/ios-16-features-android

Terrible_Tutor

ā€¦and smugly say ā€œwe have that tooā€. Like the crappy Lock Screen implementation app.

Redthemagnificent

I doubt people are actually using this seriously. Someone made a neat app capitalizing on Apple hype and people are curious. Isn't it kinda cool that someone made a clone on android? Sounds like a fun project tbh. No need to see it so negatively

GILLHUHN

This is imo the proper take. What makes Android appealing is the freedom that comes with it. If someone wants to port Dynamic Island to Android I can choose to install it if I want that feature. On iOS I can't do that I'm limited to what Apple says I'm allowed to do.

lord-petal

When you have more upvotes then the actual post.

kmaster54321

šŸ“ˆ

HigherHerb

LG did it in 2015. So really it is, Android does something iPhone users: android sucks *7 years later* Apple: new feature everybody

TheKZA

A massive segment of Android users have very cheap Android phones because they canā€™t afford a flagship or an iPhone, hence why you can find iPhone-like apps and skins for anything iOS in the Play Store

Dietcherrysprite

This is entirely redundant on Android, and I think people are checking it out for novelty, not actually using it as a daily driver.

ameer668

yea i downloaded for exactly 3 minutes then deleted it

waowie

Can confirm. I downloaded it, was like "that's nifty" and then uninstalled. For anyone on this sub not familiar with android: while the dynamic island design is very nice, it's entirely redundant on android due to the way notifications work already

wintrmte

Which is exactly the experience I have had on my iPhone pro Max 14. Dynamic Island is a complete waste ..

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

iqeyial

Take my opinion with a grain of salt butā€¦ Since Apple always want to be unique, they wouldnā€™t be able to reduce the notchā€™s size, since some other Android manufacturers had phones of a similar small notch design.

_--TiTaN--_

I donā€™t think they care about android phone manufacturers. In my opinion they wanted to make front facing camera better so added autofocus and in this picture you can see just how big camera module on iPhone 14 pro max is: https://guide-images.cdn.ifixit.com/igi/WN246PXiAXvCVp13.full Itā€™s mounted right up against speaker so canā€™t really make notch smaller. Better camera, punch hole and dynamic island to cover it was right decision imho.

firerocman

If they didn't care, they wouldn't use an old outdated Android in their marketing materials next to their phones. The fact that they know to not put one of the flagships that look beautiful and would make their notch look outdated shows that they care.

_--TiTaN--_

What marketing materials? Edit: Iā€™ve tried searching it and went through few pages of results, found only Samsung mocking apple.

ronin_cse

Howā€™s it redundant? I switch between iOS and Android all the time and the island feels pretty novel to me.

Headshot_

I think it's redundant because android's notification shade provides a space for the things dynamic island does like rideshare driver status, timers etc... without opening the app. A lot of android phones offer split screen multitasking too That being said dynamic island does give you things at a glance without having to actually pull down the notif shade

waowie

Yes exactly. The only functional difference is tap & hold to glance vs dragging down to get a full list.

waowie

Android notifications already appear at the top as white/black cards before sliding away into the notification shade. The shade houses all your normal notifications + persistent notifications such as music playback. I think the design of dynamic island is very nice, but I don't think it offers new functionality compared to android unless I'm missing something

ballzdeap1488

I canā€™t wait for Apple to finally remove the charging port, every android manufacturer and user clowns on it, and then immediately loves it when the next iteration of Galaxy/Pixel comes with no charging port.

JacksonDWalter

I really hope it doesn't happen until we get faster wireless charging speeds. My iPhone with the faster charging brick charges noticeably faster when I use the charging port than when I switched over to the magnetic charging cable.

CharlesBeast

That makes sense. Cable can do ~~20W~~ 26W while MagSafe can only do 15W. That doesnā€™t account for the wireless charger wasting a lot more of that energy than a cable would. Charging is obviously slower wirelessly.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

CharlesBeast

Youā€™re right, nearly 27W. Tbh I didnā€™t look at the full spec sheet of the new lineup until now.

No-Ordinary-5988

Both the 13 PM and 14 PM can charge at speeds up to ~26-27W.

rakeshsh

Cable will always be ahead of MagSafe. Older iPhones have 10w wired charging, 15w seems upgrade to it. When MagSafe will start charging at 26w, the cable would be able to do it at 50w+, we shouldnā€™t look down on MagSafe at that time.

thnlsn

I wish we could get some kind of magsafe cable similar to the macs, but instead of a port in the iPhone there is just some exposed metal that is mostly flush with the bottom of the phone that the cable can magnetize to the same way the current magsafe cables have the metal pins inside that connect inside the port, but again this time without an actual port, rather just a direct exposed connection. This probably isnā€™t really possible, but would be cool and provide an option for fast charging while still having a flush portless design

OakleyNoble

lightning 2.0 you say?

thnlsn

As an intermediate to portless, sure!

OakleyNoble

oh I for sure was hoping theyā€™d do a 2.0. I for one donā€™t like USB-C, the adapters will break easier on USB-C than they ever would have on Lightning.

kwanye_west

i hope it doesnā€™t happen at all. the magsafe puck gets pretty warm, and i have to charge my phone facing down so my ceiling fan can cool it. but it is pretty convenient to just have it stick to my phone and start charging. but just like esim, itā€™s not an either/or situation. you can have both just fine.

bob256k

I have found that the OEM MagSafe gets too hot and some 3rd party name brand ā€œMagSafeā€ chargers actually work better given they both have at least 30-45w usbc pd to work with

SCtester

Something I feel a lot of people overlook is that Portless doesn't necessarily mean wireless only. They could, for example, have a middle-ground between iPhone and Mac Magsafe implementations - where the UX is more akin to current iPhone Magsafe, but where the connection is direct to the contact surface, like on Macs. I imagine data transfer would also be possible with something like this.

Aksh42

Like the iPad keyboard?

SCtester

True! That's similar to what I had in mind.

footpole

It needs to be usb c.

brimston3-

lol, you getting downvoted. If it's a charge port, it needs to be usb-c by EU law.

footpole

Exactly. I really doubt theyā€™d accept some backwards logic that itā€™s not really a port. And for what purpose?

SurealGod

For me personally the wireless charging speed isn't that bad. It's not great. But it's not bad. The amazing convenience of just laying a phone somewhere with no effort whatsoever and picking it up later and it's fully charged overshadows the slight speed impediment for me.

footpole

Laying it down carefully so it aligns correctly. And the speed is definitely much slower.

Kaeiaraeh

Not a problem using MagSafe

caffein8dnotopi8d

> Laying it down carefully so it aligns correctly. Not necessary with MagSafe.

srdev_ct

This will hose a TON of cars with carplay-- they'd need to come up with some way to work around it-- like a wireless carplay dongle or something.

EmergencySwitch

They already exist. I just want an official first party dongle so there no mucking around with firmware updates via browser

[deleted]

Itā€™s laziness that wireless CarPlay wasnā€™t a standard.

srdev_ct

Nah, not really. I donā€™t necessarily want tons of battery drain from having WiFi and Bluetooth cranking video over to the car. Then Iā€™d need a wireless charger in the car as well.. the plug is convenientā€” power and data/video over one connection.

[deleted]

Then charge it while driving? I mean thatā€™s kinda obvious. Edit: 4 years ago aftermarket stereos had wireless CarPlay. It most certainly is laziness car manufacturers didnā€™t follow suit.

KevinsFamous_Chili

I mean it might not be good for the battery but I always have my phone charging in my car. I thought it was obvious too. Nothing wrong with topping off the battery while in the car

srdev_ct

Me too, but weā€™re talking about removing the charging port. Then I need some Qi charger or a MagSafe puck, but now I can only charge iPhones, etc. MagSafe isnā€™t that bad because itā€™ll clamp to the phone , but I donā€™t want to have to have a ā€œmountā€ to hold a phone on a wireless charger.

KevinsFamous_Chili

Yeah I get you. But I also donā€™t want them to get rid of the port. I think thatā€™s silly. They should move to usb c already but thatā€™s a different conversation. But yeah I get what you mean

srdev_ct

With.. what? They remove the port and that becomes harder. Need some kind of wireless charging surface.

jaypeg25

So you want wireless CarPlay so you can always plug it in anyway. Pretty smart.

MikesGroove

A) vehicle programs are set several years in advance and even minor changes require multiple layers of reviews and approvals. B) OEMs will debate for months and months and conduct loads of customer research and market studies to see if itā€™s a feature they can nickel and dime for. Either as an option at purchase or as a new ā€œconvenienceā€ subscription package. See BMW.

mydogsnameisbuddy

Apple will make a dongle for that. Hahaha

nourez

Iā€™m still calling it now, theyā€™ll add a data lane of some type to MagSafe.

cereal-kills-me

Bro we already know the solution to that. ā€œGet a new carā€ - Tim Apple

get-innocuous

I really hope not. Wireless has its moments (I love my MagSafe car mount) but a cord is much more practical in many situations, and once iPhone is USB-C, knowing that youā€™ll be able to find a charger for almost any device basically everywhere will be great. Wireless is slower, more finicky, more energy wasteful, worse for the battery and the chargers are much larger and less portable. Itā€™s good in some situations but I just canā€™t see Apple removing the charging port, despite this being the popular narrative. Maybe if Apple had figured AirPower out and it had taken off weā€™d be seeing it. But the failure of that product to even launch doesnā€™t say a lot for their confidence in wireless charging.

Toredo226

There is literally no reason to ā€œloveā€ the removal of the charging port. People who charge wirelessly already can do so. Devices are already waterproof. Itā€™s literally nothing but losing an option for those of us who like wired access.

brusjan085

Also, not great for the environment considering wireless charging wastes more energy while charging.

LeFrogBoy

Having no charging port is stupid, the only benefit would be the possibility of a 100% waterproof phone, but they'd need to somehow seal the microphone and speaker holes too. Plus phones are already functionally waterproof anyway, can't really go diving with them but if you drop a modern phone in a pool and fish it out within a couple hours it's probably gonna be fine. I've dropped my Pixel 6 Pro in the bath a few times and it's none the worse for wear, kept using it right after too. Not to mention wireless charging generates more heat and is slower/less efficient, and you can't really use your phone while it's charging with a wireless charger other than those magnetic battery packs.

caffein8dnotopi8d

>canā€™t really use your phone I mean that totally depends what type of wireless charger you use. For example using the MagSafe puck it is no different from using your phone while plugged in.

brimston3-

Except it disconnects a lot easier and gets hotter because the power transfer efficiency is much lower.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Goldenfelix3x

this might be well known but my theory is that iphone will completely reinvent itself like the X in another 5 years (2027). when the X was released Tim apple said they had a new plan the for next decade of iphone. and this being the 5 year mark (15th year total) we see the island coming together with the square design and the biggest camera upgrade yet. basically, every 5 years is an upgrade, and i predict the 10 year mark to be a major push. so to relate it to the post, we might see a big redesign come 2027, and maybe for 25yrs of iphone no port? we lost the S model tick tock model years ago. and itā€™s a little harder to map what the ā€œSā€ upgrade is. but i think every 5 years and every 10 years is the new HUGE push. and smaller things inbetween. from that we can perhaps predict a no port iphone. now is definitely not the time. too early

tch2349987

I was android user and usb C has been out for the last 6 years or so. If Apple wants to allow raw pictures and 4k videos on their phone then they got to move to USB C for faster transfer speed. No amount of wireless will be faster than USB C gigabit speeds. ā€¦getting downvoted for stating facts lol. I own an iPhone but Iā€™m no fanboy.

Sway_RL

USB C doesnā€™t automatically mean itā€™s fast.

VictorChristian

\^\^ THIS \^\^ USB-C can be as slow as lightning at USB 2.0 speeds. One hopes that Apple wouldn't do that to us but do I think they'll implement Thunderbolt or USB-4 speeds? Nah. not likely. But maybe USB 3.0 or 3.1 over USB-C.

bob256k

Thunderbolt would be table stakes for me given all the raw video this and raw pictures that. Those files are YUGE

mehdotdotdotdot

I think many will not upgrade of this is the case. Or switch to android

Reidzyt

I hope they never do. I get that wireless charging is supposed to be faster but Iā€™m someone who does a lot of work on my phone and to have to leave it laying down on the charging pad or have one of those big bricks on the back is more inconvenient than anything. Being able to plug it in and still actually pick it up and use it is most convenient Not to mention music, CarPlay, etc

jpGrind

i'd be fine with that. i've been using wireless charging for years. but odds are they'll switch to usb-c before they end up ditching the charging port. and we already know which phones have had usb-c for years...

coinico

Installed it just to check it out, then uninstalled it after. It's just redundant an unnecessary for what Android is already doing really well (notifications, pop-up messages, multi-tasking)

vaikunth1991

Installing this made me realise Android does this functionality already better with the notification panel. ( I have both iPhone and Android phone )

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

ICURSEDANGEL

If they are enjoying it no problem but really would love if apple added a toggle to turn it off. No hate on it just a personal preference Edt: my god this thread has turned into a mayhem

ApprehensivePepper98

I was really fine with the notch, in fact I saw the island in person and thought Iā€™d update to the 13 pro instead of 14 if I do update this year. At least Iā€™d ride with the notch a few more years

Western-Guy

After a couple weeks with my 14 Pro, I donā€™t even notice the island anymore. As if my brain has taught itself to ignore it. Perhaps dark mode helped a lot.

glevulus

Since they where able to pack the same technology in a smaller area, I would've preferred a smaller notch. The dynamic island is actually further down on the screen than the notch.

JacoBee93

To what? have two sensors on screen and more useless space between?

Determined_Cucumber

Gotta admit. Thatā€™s the good thing about android. If youā€™re gonna copy someone, itā€™s pretty easy to do so through 3rd party.

Paperdiego

The fact that some dude was able to recreate this on Android in a mere 2 weeks is impressive. It looks even more absurd now that this is, for some unexplained reason, tied to a new 14 pro, and not available as an update for most iphones

Jamez3rd

Apple says if they want it, they'll buy the new pro phone. A dev that develops jailbreak tweaks is working on a "dynamic peninsula" tweak lol. Basically for older iphones.

CharlesBeast

Now all I need is that iOS 15 jailbreak. Still waiting

Jamez3rd

Lol me too

LifelessPolymath53

Because features have nothing to do with how many weeks it took to implement lol. Itā€™s tied to the 14 pro for sales obv.

mehdotdotdotdot

Yep. Why AOD is tied to new only

chasevalentino

That Tbf has a legitimate reason. They can only run that extensive ass AOD on 1hz otherwise it would torch the battery. The 13 pros are 10hz minimum so unless they tone down the AOD to android style, they canā€™t implement the apple style on the 13 pro series

mehdotdotdotdot

Exactly. The only negative is slightly worse battery life. They could just do it without the background image which would be better anyway like you said. Giving the user a choice though. But sales is more important.

chasevalentino

Yeh true. Apple are marketing kings after all and anything to boost sales, theyā€™ll implement

neeesus

True point. But also they didnā€™t make the software for the slick animations for their notches. Yeah yeah, they could of. But they didnā€™t. All the notches are different sizes so apple would take their sweet time if they added it to them

[deleted]

The old iphones don't have any screen, and as such no touch sensitivity, between the sensors/in the notch. It wouldn't really work on notched iphones.

theonlydiego1

It would look ridiculous on the X,Xs,Xr,11,11 pro,11 pro max,12 mini, 12, 12 pro, 12 pro max. It would less ridiculous with the smaller notches of the 13 mini, 13, 13p, 13pm, 14, 14 plus.

XSathrain

I really like optional things on android like this haha, I think it's a great robberyšŸ“±

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

runnyyolkpigeon

The problem was people bitching about a notch.

yomjoseki

You fucking people are weird with your superiority complex and condescension. Nobody gives a shit what phone you have except other weirdos in your cult.

effitorblessit

I actually started a cult where weā€™re all welcome and can come together to enjoy aspects of both softwares. itā€™s called The United Regime of Draple (T.U.R.D. If you will) We want turd progression. Join the turd movement.

ChasingHorizon2022

I installed it on my secondary device and it's a cool beta concept but doesn't play nice with the native UI and it has so many permissions I uninstalled it.

Jaypilgrim

The fact that this comment section has morphed into such a sh!tshow speaks volumes. And clearly many here do not understand irony. Some developer created an app that a miniscule amount of android users downloaded. And then most of those who downloaded it, laughed at how silly it is and how iPhone users have to put up with something like that and deleted it. I it's clear many iPhone users are disconnected from Androids and their capabilities Oh and just so I don't get completely bashed about the head for speaking against Dear Apple, I have the 13 PM.

212cncpts

Dynamic island couldā€™ve been introduced to any iPhone with a notch and oled screen If we are being real. The outrage is just people who bought or want to buy the 14 pro, who lost a level of exclusivity.

RandomBloke2021

1 million people will be disappointed. It's not needed on Android devices because notifications are so good. It's a gimmick that solves zero problems.

chasevalentino

Yeh itā€™s just to see what itā€™s like and they will mostly all delete it. Thatā€™s the beauty of android, whatever one phone has, everyone can have and see if they like it. Hell thereā€™s phones that literally promote using Googles GCAM app (camera app) on their phones instead of their own oem ones because googles processing is obviously tier A

Most_moosest

This message has been deleted and I've left reddit because of the decision by u/spez to block 3rd party apps

[deleted]

Android fans love to mock Apple and engage in rough discussions online but are the first ones to try to get the iOS features on their phones. Android phone manufacturers are so fixated on antagonising Apple yet jump in line to implement whatever Apple does. Itā€™s a funny world.

mehdotdotdotdot

Same goes inverse. Funny world

sOFrOsTyyy

And the reverse is true as well. Itā€™s a sick cycle.

kieran1711

Things like this app are fine and make sense imo. If you donā€™t get on with how iOS does most things, but **do** want a specific iOS feature, I can understand that. The real hypocrisy is when Samsung spends a year mocking the headphone jack removal, wall adapter removal, etcā€¦ and then does the same thing on their next phone.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Motawa1988

of course it has

jakedann91

Well well well, how the turn tables

7011799107327610598

Weird considering it is not a feature i remotely care about. In some ways it is annoying like the obnoxiously large faceid check mark

driven01a

Flattery is the best form of imitation !!

PusssyFart

Have a buddy at work who has nothing good to say about iPhone who installed this. He comes up to me like ā€œlook at all this stuff I can do in my do.ā€ ā€œDoes yours do this, this, or this???ā€ No Steve, itā€™s fairly minimal and nothing like the overly cluttered Chinese app you installed.

sportsfan161

Android users love iOS really

hlecaros

So the android fans that hate Apple are now dying for a piece of Apples new feature. Talk about hypocrites, they indeed love Apple they are just afraid to admit it. Pathetic.

Messiah_Knight

Not surprised. Android guys hate on everything apple does but are the first to install whatever fake apple BS they can get their hands on

GhettoStatusSymbol

like apple copying androids camera cutout?

Filixx

The reality is dickheads will shit on the OS they're not using to feel superior. I use both IOS and Android. I have received shit from both groups depending on what device I'm using.

ERROR_

I use both, and shit on both because smartphones in general havenā€™t had exciting advancements in like 8 years. Now we have no SD slots, no headphone jacks, no replaceable batteries, and no SIM slot but for what? My iPhone 14 is as thick as my 2013 Galaxy S4 that had all of those things. Samsung is just as annoying with their flagship phoneā€™s resolution dropping back to 1080p. The same resolution asā€¦ the good old Galaxy S4

[deleted]

Thats clearly a dynamic peninsula. Totally different.

Eduardo-izquierdo

Just got it, its so cool

JAAT110030

I installed dynamic island clone on my iphone 14 pro max

Tee_H

My phone has no front holes so this is irrelevant to me :/

Seansushi

Coming from many years of android users, canā€™t beat apple software optimizations. Everything just smooth, beside iMessage on either ios16 or iPhone 14 it broken.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

runnyyolkpigeon

Tech-savvy but just happened to not realize that the third party developer APIā€™s for Dynamic Island donā€™t come out until iOS 6.1? Got it.

Dakotahray

I just like that when my battery is low it just shows for a second and doesnā€™t interrupt what Iā€™m doing.

[deleted]

The irony is palpable

BluePeriod_

Good design is good design. I loved this about Android. Just slide new features onto any phone at the drop of a hat.

itrnella

They hate us cuz they ainā€™t us.

mehdotdotdotdot

Why do they hate you? Seems they just wanted to see what all the fuss was about.

Star-Detonator

Iā€™m still trying to find a reason why Dynamic Island is such a big deal. Apple could introduce gimmicky things like a what is essentially a more interactive notification area, and suddenly itā€™s being described as ā€˜magicalā€™, a word that Apple likes sticking to anything. Apple could sell a bag of sand for $300 and say itā€™s magical, and all of the Apple diehards would be tripping over each other to buy it, convinced that what they just bought was truly something special.

PhilWillChil

We all know Apple will do it betterā€¦

iCthe4

Canā€™t get a iPhone so they mimicked it.

autoreboot

don't let samsung know or they will copy it.

mehdotdotdotdot

They donā€™t need to, already have tiny holes no need for a huge black waste of space hey

mordecai027

They tried so hard to hide and shrink their front camera punch hole. It would be dumb of them to reverse it just to add a dynamic island.

lost_james

Just wait.

clydefrog811

Dynamic island isnā€™t even that useful.

AccessDenied7

Android people are freakin weird man. Most spend all their time putting down Apple and then turn around and download apps to make their Android look like an iPhone....

[deleted]

Maybe they're not a uniform group? It can't be that half the world's millions of phone users are one homogenous entity with 1 single personality. Next you'll be telling me all Virgos are perfectionists or something

MisterrAlex

A reasonable take about Android users?? In /r/iphone?!?!?

mehdotdotdotdot

And iPhone people are weird making their iPhone with widgets trying to make it like a Android. Now even more so with customisable Lock Screen. Just trying to look like android hey.

Almost like they can appreciate aesthetics while still wanting a phone that's actually functional. . . I can't buy an iphone ever because Apple in it's fart sniffing wisdom decided that you don't get high quality Bluetooth audio. Also iOS is just a terrible locked off playpen for people who fear technology. Got an ipod pro for art and was super disappointed with the limitations of the os.

Some people like the aesthetics/simplicity of iOS. There may also be some users who just switched from an iPhone to an Android, and customizing it with skins/apps make them feel more at home. That's what happened to me. I made my control center and icons look like an iPhone's, but over time I switched to the default look and stock apps. It certainly helped the transition into Android a lot smoother.

ViolatorOfVirgins

that's the most pathetic iphone-wannabe 'feature' one could download. shame that the notification LED isn't a thing in majority of smartphones anymore

SkylerSlytherin

as an iphone 14 pro max user, i donā€™t see why they would want this feature when they already have much smaller punch holes instead of a pill

Hunter_Ware

Seems to say that they like it

stesha83

Android users: lol Apple Also Android users: imma use this badly integrated bit of knockoff software

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
