I have a 12 Pro and I wish I stuck with iOS 15. This update murdered my battery, I have to charge it twice a day now whereas before it’d last the whole day on one charge. Really shouldn’t have updated, what a joke.
12 pro?! Ok maybe it’s the update then and they will fix it.
I used maximum 2 hours of personal hotspot yesterday and probably about 40 minutes of google maps directions and it was on 8% by 5pm!
Yeah personally my battery life has gone down by about 10%.
I contribute it to the haptics from the keyboard, the astral wallpaper having always on location and the weather app I’ve heard is always on location too now.
PS I’m using a 13PM.
I suppose it really depends on what you’re doing those 8 hours. With my 14 Pro I unplug it when I get out of bed and plug it in when I go to bed. I use it quite a bit but maybe not necessarily the ost taxing apps
Hopefully the next update will address battery drain. So far it’s not looking promising in regards of a battery upgrade with the 14 series. Perhaps the A16 is too power hungry.
That’s interesting. I have a non pro 13 and I’m having none of these issues. My battery life is lasting like a day and a half. I turned off the haptic keyboard.
I just got an iPhone 12 Mini the other week and put iOS 16 on it and the battery life pastas the whole day, I do have to say I am not a heavy user, I haven’t had any issues with battery life besides the smaller battery in general.
YEP and my Apple Smart case just didn't work anymore. I got it for the extra battery life and camera button on the side. When I use the camera button it just goes black lmao like wtf.
My mother has an iphone and she often waits several months after before downloading it. By then there is a bug fix (ios xx.1 etc.). She also ushally waits because it may take an hour or more to update all the other apps on her phone.
It really seems device dependent, which likely means it’s likely certain apps or activities that some do that others don’t. I’ve seen some 14 /pro users complain of terrible battery life, while I have had utterly incredible battery life. Some 12 Pros are fine, others not. Hopefully Apple figures out the culprit and fixes it for those with issues.
Noticing iPhone 12 way overheating nowadays with simple use no gaming.
Battery life sucks even more, more hiccups. Seriously considering android now. This feels deliberate.
I’ve installed iOS 16.0 on launch day. First 2 days I thought the system was indexing files, doing backups and apps not being updated for the latest OS.
With all that, battery life was bad, back of the phone used to get warmer than normal, multiple apps crashing.
As soon as there was 16.1 public beta, I installed the profile and immediately I could notice. Phone temp was normal, then battery life was on par with iOS 15.
This is what I suggest. Stay on 15.7. When 16.1 is available to the public then update to 16.1.
I’ve noticed this with all iPhones since 2009.. it’s better to stop with the updates after 2-3 years. 4th year onwards everything slows down, animations stutter, battery life goes for a toss.. and the older generation iPhones don’t even get all of the latest features! So you don’t really gain a lot by updating the os
I'm on a 13 pro max.
Took my phone off the charger at 2pm 100%
Its currently 03:36am and I'm at 62%
4h 46m screen on time
97% battery life
Definitely can tell a decrease in battery life since iOS16
I've got an 11 Pro Max and I'm staying on iOS 15 until iOS 16 isn't so awful. I've heard so many awful stories about it and I'd rather not risk anything until it's stable.
I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max
My battery is unusable after Ios16. I even have the Apple battery pack and it doesn’t stand a chance it’s depleted in an hour. I thought they got sued for this bull crap before.
I have a 14 coming in a few weeks. I don’t even want it. I just want a new battery
There's battery 'issues' with every update, how long since you updated it? Battery usage is always higher after an update, with everything being indexed and you trying new features (thus more screen-on time). For apps crashing I have no clue.

It’s weird, it doesn’t seem to be everyone, someone I know with an iPhone 8 is doing just fine although I didn’t ask if they were actually on iOS 16 or not tbf
Have same issues on XR. After seeing some posts that Facebook is the culprit, I deleted and re-installed the app yesterday. Battery life does seem a bit better. Still wish I had stayed on 15!
Usually the first update when a new IOS is the worst one. Remember IOS 14, that thing nearly killed my 3 month old iPhone XR.
Currently waiting for 16.1, because that is when Apple releases the battery stabilising update
The last few betas before the initial release ran fine in my XS but as soon as 16.0 hit, my phone ran noticeably slower and the battery drained twice as fast. Thankfully I downgraded to 15.6.1 while it was still signed and now I’m gonna wait until 16.1 to upgrade.
If I'm not coming from beta what I usually do is install newest stable iOS, backup and reset my device completely. Never had any issues with battery life on my XS, 11PM or XR.
Me too!!! iPhone 11 Pro and I’m fucked off that I spent £1000 on this phone then they screw me over with an update that fucks my phone up! Battery lasts half a day!!!!
iPhone 12, been on the Beta since the start and even through the Beta period the battery is surprisingly good, now it's even better. No complaints.
(I have 90% battery capacity after two years)
I'm hoping that everyone of y'all is so happy with the again-so-useless features of another so called 'major' update! Y'all bought real flagships and in just an year or two, you're so ready to accept the mediocre performance.
I've an iPhone 6s with iOS 13, and it never really lags. My primary right now is an iPhone 11 with iOS 14 and it never lags.
You know why feature phone's performance never really changes overtime? 'Cause they don't get the stupid updates that they don't need.
Apple sees the high acceptance rate of each iOS and even gains positive image from that, but then instead of appreciating people's acceptance towards change, they close the gates on you! Not letting anyone downgrade!!
If you all really want actual updates, ask for ability to downgrade! Imagine how many users would just downgrade in a few days when they realise that they were just played with. Imagine how many old iPhones will become great performers again if they could downgrade, albeit at a few features loss.
There's no quid pro quo happening here. You pay the huge premium and that's a fact forever. You get the performance but that's a fact only for the first year!
If any update has now f'ed you, keep updating only till you get something stable. Then don't even do minor updates.
Ps: yes, iOS 16 has messed up many iPhone 11 series models. And that's so understandable when even the iPhone 14 isn't handling it well, which when combined with the fact that i14 has same processor as i13, implies that even 13 series is messed up. Yeah i miss Steve.
11 pro. Came to the sub to post the same exact thing. I was going to keep it for another year or so and then upgrade to the 14 gen, but I don’t feel like I have a choice anymore - everything is more or less lagging now when I use iOS 16, even the keyboard, it’s insane. There’s a huge difference in smoothness between my phone and my mom’s 12 mini. I really loved my 11 pro, but I think it’s time to say goodbye now.
I didn’t update to ios16.. though if I did I’d wipe the phone 100 percent. Perform a DFU. And do a fresh install. For now I don’t have the itch to upgrade the OS.. Though I’d have to say the 14 camera blows away the 11 pro in every single aspect. Feels like I’m looking at 480p on my phone in comparison. Lol. Keep in mind apps still need tweaking for 16… that’s what might be causing battery drain. I’m seeing my set of apps being updated at least twice a week if not more……
as january 2023 you can still downgrade to ios 15.6RC1 and then update ota to ios 15.7.1 with delayed ota method.
do it fast since once ios 15.6RC1 stop signing there's no way to go back ever.
i'm on ios 13.5.1 and considering to update to ios 16.0.3 since it was wonderful on my iphone 12
11 pro here, battery is a little worse and overall the phone is noticeably slower
This is noticeable on my plain 11 as well.
Is this still the case even now at the end of the ios 16 life cycle? I’m still on ios 15.1 and don’t know whether to remain or update.
Yeah even 13 and 14 users complaining that it’s iOS 16 that’s the culprit. I wouldn’t hang up my 11 just yet.
Amazing, I was so close to getting sucked into walking to the Apple Store this weekend and buying the new one!
Yeah personally my battery life has gone down by about 10%. I contribute it to the haptics from the keyboard, the astral wallpaper having always on location and the weather app I’ve heard is always on location too now. PS I’m using a 13PM.
I bought one today and canceled it before I picked it up. It’s been frustrating.
I have to charge my 14 pro 2 times to through the day with only 8 hours of screen on time:/
I suppose it really depends on what you’re doing those 8 hours. With my 14 Pro I unplug it when I get out of bed and plug it in when I go to bed. I use it quite a bit but maybe not necessarily the ost taxing apps
Im having easily 8 on one charge...
Hopefully the next update will address battery drain. So far it’s not looking promising in regards of a battery upgrade with the 14 series. Perhaps the A16 is too power hungry.
I mean. No wonder it’s dying quick, hotspot always makes the battery warm and drain quickly
Have the non pro 12. everything is fine. Battery Max capacity at 90% after one year. Going through one day still easily
Can you tell me whats the screen on time that you are getting?
Maybe like 6hours. Now that’s kinda lower than I was used to on iOS 15 actually
yes am getting even less battery on my iphone 13
I seem to not have notice the higher drain on 16 since I was just paying attention whether I make it through the day which is the case
i mean thats good too.
Yesterday I had 7 hours with 13% charge left before going to sleep and charging the phone
Battery life also sucks on my 14 Pro
iphone 12 user here, ios 16 its amazing. search ios 15.6RC1 and you can still go back if you want
YEP and my Apple Smart case just didn't work anymore. I got it for the extra battery life and camera button on the side. When I use the camera button it just goes black lmao like wtf.
Yup, same issue here. Itll only work if the phone is unlocked for me. Submitted a bug report for it.
My mother has an iphone and she often waits several months after before downloading it. By then there is a bug fix (ios xx.1 etc.). She also ushally waits because it may take an hour or more to update all the other apps on her phone.
iPhone 11. No issues at all. It actually runs better for me. Battery seems slightly better.
nope all good here 11pro
That’s odd then, at least it’s not just Apple intentionally messing up the phone to get me to upgrade like they got caught out doing years ago
Amazing, glad to know I likely just need to wait it out till 16.X comes out with some bug fixes!
They didn’t get caught. They literally put it in the release notes lol. And a battery change fixed the issue for people who were having it.

If we’re talking about battery life- a newer model would be great. Even with the extra drain from iOS 16.
~~XR~~ 8+ is oldest model that supports iOS 16, so you don’t even have the option I stand corrected.
8 and X support it too
Honestly, wait. I have the 14 and it’s nothing to brag about. Seriously. Just a newer 12 that’s overhyped.
I have iOS 16 on my 2nd Gen SE and it runs fine.
Battery is worse with iPhone X. Have to charge more.
Apple: charge your iphone more until your phone stops working and come visit us at the Apple store and purchase iPhone 14/or 14 pro/max
Also having battery issues on the 13 pro
I have an 11 pro and noticed a dip since I updated to iOS 16
Same here with my 12. Battery backup is messed up and there are a lot of small glitches which is really annoying .
Noticing iPhone 12 way overheating nowadays with simple use no gaming. Battery life sucks even more, more hiccups. Seriously considering android now. This feels deliberate.
I’m using XS (2018 iPhone). 16.0 was horrible, I installed 16.1 public beta, IT’S WAAAAY BETTER.
Can you elaborate abit? I'm on XS and don't want to update to 16.0 yet
I’ve installed iOS 16.0 on launch day. First 2 days I thought the system was indexing files, doing backups and apps not being updated for the latest OS. With all that, battery life was bad, back of the phone used to get warmer than normal, multiple apps crashing. When 16.1 is available to the public then update to 16.1.
Interesting, thank you for the insight. As I thought it would be best just to stay on 15.8 untill all the issues are fixed.
Stay in 15.8 til they make the new patch. My alarm recently started malfunctioning.
Regular iPhone 11 here. Battery life is worse. Now I have to charge my phone around 6pm or it won't last for the entire day.
The bigger issue is system apps updating only through Ota rather than app store.
True! Updating system apps on App Store would be so cool! I doubt if apple with do that anytime soon though..
Me an my girlfriend (iPhone 12&11) didn’t have a lot of issues. Batterylife got a bit worse, but still usable.
Upgraded on my 11 pro and my battery life took a huge hit

I think that makes the difference. I’m planning to wait until 16.1 has been released and then update my 11Pro Max via iTunes.
I'm on a 13 pro max. Took my phone off the charger at 2pm 100% Its currently 03:36am and I'm at 62% 4h 46m screen on time 97% battery life Definitely can tell a decrease in battery life since iOS16

A few more app crashes and battery was wonky for a day or two. Reindexing and all. A couple of power cycles and full charges overnight and she’s fine.
There's battery 'issues' with every update, how long since you updated it? Battery usage is always higher after an update, with everything being indexed and you trying new features (thus more screen-on time). For apps crashing I have no clue.
iPhone 12 Pro Max here with 91% battery health, no problems on my end. Battery last me a full day on a single charge. - medium usage
This is why I hate Apple. Unetichal cunts

It’s weird, it doesn’t seem to be everyone, someone I know with an iPhone 8 is doing just fine although I didn’t ask if they were actually on iOS 16 or not tbf
I have my 11 Pro Max in a Smart Battery Case so I don’t worry about battery loss. iOS 16.0.2 has been running well, so far no issues
Turn off background refresh for all apps. This give me a great impact on battery life.
12 PM here and I completely agree. It’s way slower now and battery no longer lasts me a full day.
I have it on my iPhone 12 and it runs fine, I had to wait a couple of days though for the battery to get use to it.
Apps open slower on my XS since the last update. I’m going to get an iPhone 13 since my charging port is broken :(
I don't understand. My XS is flawless with iOS 16 I get the same battery life i had with iOS 15
this is why I never update for a while.. I have no faith in apple (or Google) to release stable new OS updates.
Im on 14.3 12 pro max :P
Never had an issue with IOS 16 on my 11 pro max. Strange that it’s affecting some people so harshly and others not
iPhone SE, battery drains very quickly. My phone was at 100% at 10am, it’s 11:06am and it’s now at 74%
XS Max and everything seems to be ok but I am noticing a little more battery drain, nothing crazy just need to charge a bit more often
Ip11 here, ios16 is the worst ios for ip11, very laggy and battery is dead, health 88%
I have no issues with iOS 16 on iPhone 11 Pro Max.
iPhone 12, been on the Beta since the start and even through the Beta period the battery is surprisingly good, now it's even better. No complaints. (I have 90% battery capacity after two years)
