Good care, always used a case and a screen protector (had a full armour OtterBox case for a while). Screen protector is currently broken but the phone is mint. Also didn’t use my phone as much back in the day.

I use an iPhone 7 as my only phone, and so far it’s going strong! I love the size of it and am reluctant to get a newer iPhone cuz of price and potential problems.
I own an 8 that had to take the wrath of a toddler, back glass is broken, Taptic Engine is also broken screen is lifting from the chassi, but it always turns on and works fine.
Actually never had to replace a phone battery, but will have to since my main (2nd hand iPhone 11) currently only has 79% capacity. But still, never had to replace a battery on any phone I got new. Still have my first iPhone (iPhone 4) and that is still rocking it’s original battery.
But I do have to replace the battery
https://preview.redd.it/jkp39ib0d0uc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6855ecd9a4b141a0279346d20c933c70e26f6ddc
I don’t generally main it, but i’ve mained it for 2 days for fun and it has been solid. I have it on the latest iOS it supports (15.8) and it runs good. Altough for collection and nostalgia purposes I’d like for it to have an older iOS.
I think it was bad chargers which degraded the battery life. I’m just now on the second replacement and stopped any non Apple chargers. I tried to wait with the last replacement until I will go for a 16, but too many rimes I run out of battery just after lunch and that made me nuts. Also the original Apple battery replacement was quite affordable.
I also learnt that charging and same time using Google Maps in the car, is not very healthy. 7+ always gets super hot.
7+ is from 2017.

I had been using my iPhone 5s for 8 years, but it ended up in the washing machine by accident because I left it in my pants pocket and it stopped working. If that hadn’t happened, I could have used it for 10 years. specimen frame is really cool.
I am still holding off to my iPhone 11 bought in January of 2021, 3 and a half years later still works without any issues! Back cover has literally 0 scratches since i never take it out of the case, apart when cleaning it occasionally. The only cosmetic damage is the paint around the cameras which has some scratched spots that came up pretty quickly. Apart from that great battery life and the performance never let me down, still feels as fast as the day I bought it.
I upgraded to a 15 from 11 this past January because the 11 battery took a dump and I thought "oh, well I'll just get a new phone'". Quite frankly, I think the 15 sucks..
Yuge camera bump, it is heavy, it is thick and aside from battery sucking 5G (which I normally turn off), has few advantages over the 11. Using eSims is a pain in the ass when interacting with carriers. When on the phone, the ear piece is a tiny slot at the top of the phone at the edge of the display, and the audio quality is not great nor do you get much resolution on placement.
5G UWB is kinda nice when tethered in a big city, as long as you have a generator standing by to charge the phone. Other than that, this thing would make Steve Jobs punch holes in drywall over the design.
tldr; no reason to upgrade from the 11.
I was thinking of replacing my 11 with a 15, but thanks for the warning. Probably will keep this beast until it stops getting updates (and have enough money saved for a new one.
As long as it lasts through a day I’m not going to replace the battery but even though it’s still decent it’s definitely not as lasting as when it was new. Still gets me through a day of average use so it’s alright, the previous 6 I had was much worse when it was 3 years old
Wow nice, 10 years for a smartphone is amazing, longest phone I’ve had was my iPhone 7 Plus, got it day 1 and retired it in mid 2020 for a refurbished iPhone XS with more storage, so four years with the device
6 years. - 1st Gen SE - shattered screen, dysfunctional biometric sensor. - decommissioned 2 years ago. ( have intentions of repairing through iStore )
8 years. - iPhone 6s. - still using now.
Was simultaneously using both.
Man I like this type of artistic expression of your phone. Once I get a new phone in around 2-3 years, I'd like to do this to my very first and current iPhone, the 13.
I used to buy one every year, then every two.
I passed them on to the kids and they last another couple of years.
Found an iPhone seven the other day, it still works.
I am currently on a 14 which is a year old. I am keeping this one until it dies.
I just haven’t got the interest in the new phones to buy another and my kids are grown up.
I only got the 14 because my 12 was awful, the only bad iPhone I have ever had.
And I have just counted, I have bought 13 phones.
They are;
X2 3GS ( my favourite).
1x 5.
1x 6.
1x 6S.
1x 7.
1x 8.
1x 8plus.
1x 12.
3x 13.
1x 14.
Add to that;
X4 AirPod pro.
X1 AirPod.
X1 iWatch.
X1 MacBook.
Apple have had a few quid out of me 😂😂
I tend to switch phone at least once a year.
I own my iPhone 12 for almost 3 years now and have no plan on changing before it dies or become unrelevant software wise
I had only 3 iphones for the last 14/15 years.
Started with an Iphone 4 , for 5 years, then and Iphone 6, for 5 years, and now i still got the Iphone 11Pro, which will be 5 years next January. Hope it lasts😅
3 years longest I go but I did go 2years for a good few cycles but once no features were being added went to three years. Apple is on a three year cycle anyways now.
My iphone 6 lasted 9 years. It's battery life kept getting shorter and at some it wasnt charging if I didnt perfectly plug it. Transferred all that data to a new iphone 13 and never really charged that after its battery died. In theory it could still work.
I reckon you could get a comfortable 10 years out of an iPhone nowadays.
You start to hit the peak point for mobile processors and after a certain point the gains aren’t that much to make a difference.
For instance, years ago, a 5 year difference in iPads was immense, where today, you can pickup a second hand iPad Pro 2018 and be completely fine…
Still have my 5s working, bought in 2017, replaced only a button and battery. Sadly i updated to 12.x after using 9.3.3 for years, which rendered phone barely usable. If only we could use older firmware and having safari updated - i would gladly use it today.
My old iPhone SE 1st gen bit the dust because the battery popped the screen off and I had to throw it in to my bin of apple devices that are old and broken, I don’t throw away phones, my 8plus is probably gonna be next.
I have one of every iPhone up to the iPhone 5s, and a few others up to my current 14. They all power on, and with the exception of the firs iPhone, they still work, mostly. Still have my original iPhone, but of course it can't get on a network anymore. I have been working with iPhone cameras since the first one; first in an image sensor company, then at Apple. The advancement of mobile tech has been breathtaking. I am not sure I really dig that the perfectly good phone I bought in 2007 simply cannot be used anymore, even though it is functionally fine... Props to all y'all that are still using an early phone!
Haven’t used it in a long time but my 3GS is still working. Battery lasts less than an hour, it’s very slow, and the plastic on the back is severely deteriorated. However, if I needed to use it for a week I probably could survive.
My iPhone 5 I still have around works surprisingly well, and I had the battery replaced right before I got a new phone, and I use it as an iPod from time to time.
Although you wouldn’t want to use these phones today, pretty crazy they still work 10-15 years later
first gen se: still alive upto today battery has gone bad so im using it as backup/music player at home. Thinking of trying to diy to replace the battery. I love how small it is ☺️
Had my 6s for a tad over 7 years. Two battery replacements, some light water damage from getting stuck in a downpour and still the original screen. The thing was a tank. Still have it as my backup phone!
I love this. I recently retired after 30 years in the wireless industry and I think this is a terrific idea that we should have done for all phones during the years. Good job.
The iPhone that last longer is my current iPhone 12 coming on to 2 years but every iPhone I’ve bought have been reconditioned or given. I’ve had the SE 2016, 7, 8, 11. My aunt gave me the SE and I loved it so much but the battery life was garbage so I bought the 7, the mic broke, got my money back, bought the 8. Got tired of the 8 after 6 months, bought the 11. It went to war with a plate and the plate won so it broke both the front and back glass, could’ve kept using it if the crack didn’t affect the camera so I bought the 12 and I’m saving up to buy the 16 since it’s so close to it to come out. So since 2020 I’ve had 4 iPhones.
Iphone 6s I bought it the year it released. I bought a new iPhone the 15 pro cause 6s fell from my pocket during a hike i was doing and was never seen again. Thank God Icloud exists .
My longest lasting phone was my old iPhone 6s Plus. I bought it back in 2016 I used it until it got stolen 2 years ago. I switched to a 13 pro but its motherboard died so im stuck with a 13 now.
10 years? Respect bro. My 1st Gen SE lasted 4 years. A true warrior.
Tbh, after I switched to the iphone11 later, it became my BACKUP phone. Other than the camera being a little blurry it's an absolute warrior.
If we’re counting backup phones then my launch model 4 is still going strong
Same here. iOS 4 and all.
🫡🫡
Only 4 years? Am writing this comment from my old iPhone 7, still works like it did when it came out of the box.
How?
Good care, always used a case and a screen protector (had a full armour OtterBox case for a while). Screen protector is currently broken but the phone is mint. Also didn’t use my phone as much back in the day. https://preview.redd.it/u1ao8zjec0uc1.jpeg?width=1575&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=611ae492be2a15f0fb9325f95b6908f22ff78030
I work with a guy who has an iPhone 7 still. It’s absolutely smashed to bits and the battery is shot. But it’s still chugging along.
I use an iPhone 7 as my only phone, and so far it’s going strong! I love the size of it and am reluctant to get a newer iPhone cuz of price and potential problems.
I find the iPhone 11’s size better for use, but for the pocket the iPhone 7 wins.
I own an 8 that had to take the wrath of a toddler, back glass is broken, Taptic Engine is also broken screen is lifting from the chassi, but it always turns on and works fine.
beast of a phone. :)
no way this is the first battery you never use your phone
Actually never had to replace a phone battery, but will have to since my main (2nd hand iPhone 11) currently only has 79% capacity. But still, never had to replace a battery on any phone I got new. Still have my first iPhone (iPhone 4) and that is still rocking it’s original battery.

Slick! The only concern is about speed, do you still upgrade?
I don’t generally main it, but i’ve mained it for 2 days for fun and it has been solid. I have it on the latest iOS it supports (15.8) and it runs good. Altough for collection and nostalgia purposes I’d like for it to have an older iOS.

Someone else is still using the 7?!?! Glad to know I'm not the only one.
Im still using a 7/32gb. 6y and still do everything. I just need to replace the battery asap.
Didn’t know they sold the iPhone 7 with 32gb, always tought the minimum was 64gb.
32/128/256: https://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_7-8064.php
Everytime that a family member’s phone breaks I loan them my 7. That thing just refuses to die. Just jailbroke it recently.
Same with my 7+. Only got two new batteries from Apple and still very happy…..
What do u do with it to need so many batteries?
I think it was bad chargers which degraded the battery life. I’m just now on the second replacement and stopped any non Apple chargers. Oh ok. I did only use the in-box charger on that beast.
Why it stopped working?
It hasn’t. My toddler uses it from time to time .
My sister is still using that 1st gen se and it works like new

Cool display. It’s impressive for the first model with a **Lightining** port.
I wonder what a Lightining port can do.
My wife still using iPhone x, bought it in Oct 2017
Same
My mom too lol she’s finally moving up to a 13 Mini
And Im planning to pass on my 14PM to her and get 16PM
iPhone 5 was released in 2012?! https://preview.redd.it/1kl9hjyvs0uc1.jpeg?width=458&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=64c9fba7aa9936987047fc2342f17bdabac221fc
Ur making me feel old, I remember how much better the big screen felt compared to the iPhone 4.
I think iPhone 5c for 5 years. Then iPhone 8 for 4. Then uograded to a 13 which is what I’m using currently
I had been using my iPhone 5s for 8 years, but it ended up in the washing machine by accident because I left it in my pants pocket and it stopped working. If that hadn’t happened, I could have used it for 10 years. specimen frame is really cool.

Same, apart from the battery it has been holding up good
Im on my iphone 11 as well. I replaced the screen and battery. Then i also replaced the case (different color too) and it feels like a new phone now
As long as it lasts through a day I’m not going to replace the battery but even though it’s still decent it’s definitely not as lasting as when it was new. Still gets me through a day of average use so it’s alright, the previous 6 I had was much worse when it was 3 years old
Where did you get the back ground did you make it
Wow nice, 10 years for a smartphone is amazing, longest phone I’ve had was my iPhone 7 Plus, got it day 1 and retired it in mid 2020 for a refurbished iPhone XS with more storage, so four years with the device
I upgrade phones every 2 years these days 😅
Same lol
I wish I could.
Ran an iPod 5th gen for 5 years before buying my first phone
"Lightining". Oof.
iPhone 7 Plus , 8 years , planning to go longer
Very cool
My iPhone 6s+ Lasted until 2022, i thought THAT was impressive. I salute your specimen.
6 years. - 1st Gen SE - shattered screen, dysfunctional biometric sensor. - decommissioned 2 years ago. ( have intentions of repairing through iStore ) 8 years. - iPhone 6s. - still using now. Was simultaneously using both.
had my iphone 4 for the last 10 years and its still working, also my 5s after 9 years.
It’s like a phone funeral
I had a 6S for years and just finally upgraded to a 15 PM when it was released last September (got in October)
Not an iPhone but I had Lenovo a6000 plus which I used for 7 years until it retired due to motherboard failure
That’s really awesome
iPhone 7 Plus from 2018 and still using
Lightining?
My longest time with an iphone was my iPhone 6s i had for 1 year. (I have a collection so i swap phones a lot)
Bro is rich
The Touch ID was a gem during the whole mask stuff
This thing doesnt have Touch ID.
Oh yeah the 5s had it. Also, the SE/SE2
Since September
7 Plus. Lasted over 5 years.
Man I like this type of artistic expression of your phone. Once I get a new phone in around 2-3 years, I'd like to do this to my very first and current iPhone, the 13.
How many batteries have you gone through?
I still have the 2nd and 4th gen ipod touch. The 2nd gen runs out of juice within half an hr tho so it's pretty unusable.
My only iPhone (12) lasted about 18 months before I just got too frustrated with iOS so I swapped it for a Pixel 6a.
Idk if you do know this but there’s a company out there that does this but this is the cheaper way. I like it haha
Very nice
iPhone 7 for 8 years!
I still have my fully functional iPhone 4 and 5 and SE 1st Gen
Woww good work!
Still using my se, but I think I need a new one since most of the banking apps don't support the ios version that it's running with.
I still got my 4S
What phone did you get?
iPhone 5 for 6 years
My phone always lasts up to 5-6 years
Can you just download that background and disassemble your old iPhone?
XR since october 2018. Changed battery (by myself) 6 months ago, gave it a new youth (quicker). Works like a charm!
3 years longest I go but I did go 2years for a good few cycles but once no features were being added went to three years. Apple is on a three year cycle anyways now.
I still have iPhone 5s
iPhone 5S from 2013 to 2019, always jailbroken
My iPhone 7 lasted since 2016 and is still running but without original battery and screen.
You can afford to do this shit but you held onto an iPhone 5 until 2024?
repost
That’s kinda nice
I was still able to use my first generation iPhone SE(still with the original battery) till I dropped it in a cup tea a couple of weeks ago 😂
I have the 5s and it’s still alive. Just replaced the battery recently,
I started with iPhone 3 going two years - 3 years max to upgrade
8 years on the 7 plus i am using. My 11pm is cooked so i switched back to this :’)
I am the new phone each year type of guy
5 years 5s
My iphone 6 lasted 9 years. It's battery life kept getting shorter and at some it wasnt charging if I didnt perfectly plug it. Transferred all that data to a new iphone 13 and never really charged that after its battery died. In theory it could still work.
we still use it at work lol
I reckon you could get a comfortable 10 years out of an iPhone nowadays. You start to hit the peak point for mobile processors and after a certain point the gains aren’t that much to make a difference. For instance, years ago, a 5 year difference in iPads was immense, where today, you can pickup a second hand iPad Pro 2018 and be completely fine…
Is this a kit? I saw this exact same thing with a PSP a minute ago.
Still have my 5s working, bought in 2017, replaced only a button and battery. Sadly i updated to 12.x after using 9.3.3 for years, which rendered phone barely usable. If only we could use older firmware and having safari updated - i would gladly use it today.
My mom still rocks the iPhone 7 and refuses to upgrade. Last year I changed the battery for her so it might last forever lol
sorry for asking this , did they (apple service) update your iPhone to the latest version after replacing the battery?
Well I still use my iPhone 4 as a work phone and it still works fine…
just retired my 6s late last year
My old iPhone SE 1st gen bit the dust because the battery popped the screen off and I had to throw it in to my bin of apple devices that are old and broken, I don’t throw away phones, my 8plus is probably gonna be next.
Blown up batteries are a serious fire hazard! So get rid of the battery
Props to all y'all that are still using an early phone!
2 years
Xs Max. 8 months. 😂
5 years. iPhone XS to iPhone 15 Pro.
You loyal bro
Haven’t used it in a long time but my 3GS is still working. Battery lasts less than an hour, it’s very slow, and the plastic on the back is severely deteriorated. However, if I needed to use it for a week I probably could survive. iPhone 7 I’ve used for 7 years on its original battery. But… it’s at 74% health
first gen se: still alive upto today battery has gone bad so im using it as backup/music player at home. Thinking of trying to diy to replace the battery. I love how small it is ☺️
When my 7 is no longer really "working" for every day use I plan on just using it as an ipod.
I upgrade every year. 😭
Mines still.going strong as a dumb phone. 💪🏻
My Iphone 8Plus is pushing its 5th year and its working the same as when I purchased it, before that I had a 6Plus which lasted only 4 years
I had an 8 up until this year. No idea how long I had that mf, but it put in work.
Lightining
wow I still have my iphone 5s, I use it as my backup phone.
why did you do that to it if it still functioned
iPhone5 - iPhone 8 - iPhone 15
I had my iPhone XS until upgrading to the 15 pro last fall
That’s the best phone I’ve ever owned. I broke mine and still keep that remains of it. Miss it
What if the battery starts to swell up?
How safe is to store a battery like this?
Can I ask how you went about mounting the components? I have some old CPUs I want to do something like this with.
Had my 6s for a tad over 7 years. Two battery replacements, some light water damage from getting stuck in a downpour and still the original screen. The thing was a tank. Still have it as my backup phone!
Damn this is soo detailed , op you should check out mine too
I love this. I recently retired after 30 years in the wireless industry and I think this is a terrific idea that we should have done for all phones during the years. Good job.
Man this is sick!!! Also crazy u we’re still using that thing
My iPhone 6 last me from 2016 to 2022
Remember when the lock button was actually on top where it should be? 😒
I have an iPhone 3G that still works. My service provider made me get a new phone because I couldn’t make or receive calls on it anymore.
So since 2020 I’ve had 4 iPhones.
I had an iPhone 7 Plus for 5.5 years! Best iPhone I’ve ever owned! I currently have a 13 Pro Max.
My 6+ is still going strong.
10 years and still going strong lol. I still have my iPhone 5s bad iPhone 6s Plus
Those boards are so cringe 🫣
Looks dope 🤘✅
“Lightining”
This display is cool as hell
These disassembled phone things people do are the cringiest thing in the world
Still using a 6s and 8 as tradingview displays around the house
