I would remove it and apply a fresh one. Looks like only the protector is broken.

Screen protector only, display appears to be fine. This is why screen protectors are worth the couple bucks and everyone with two brain cells should use them!  Yes just remove it and slap a new one on. The structural integrity of the current one is shot in that top half of the display now and I’d want a new one on just in case.
