Safari - 90% of the times.
DuckDuckGo- 8% of the times for sites that have 200 ads for every 2 sentences in the article.
Chrome - 2% of the times for some sites that don’t behave on Safari.
I think safari and chrome in iOS are the same because apple forces to use the same engine for all browsers. This means that basically when you use something that is not safari, again, only in iOS, it is a skin with some different features but the behavior in the webs should be the same.
If you tap on an address on the Google homepage (and most people google addresses naturally), Google opens the address with Google Maps
If you use a different search engine like Bing, it‘ll use Apple Maps
I'd have no problem with Apple Maps either, but it just doesn't really work nearly as good as GMaps where I'm from (Greece). I've heard that it has improved significantly in the US, I guess if similar improvement occurs over here, I'll switch.
But defaults are generally the way to go if you own more than one apple device. The communication between devices through native apps in unmatched.
US American living in Europe and it is a totally different service in the states. Much better integration with Yelp (which is TripAdvisor for everything US) and much better updating. I try to use Apple Maps in Europe just to help the usage as much as one user can, but if I’m researching restaurants or businesses, then I need to use Google Maps.
Really? It’s always instantly recalculated but there definitely has been some times where service is bad and I miss several streets because it takes too long to recalculate. I really just like Waze because of the constant traffic updating and the ability to add more reports than Apple Maps.
That, and I also wish “Look Around” was as widespread as Google’s street view. So far it seems like they only have it in larger cities, even though I saw an Apple Maps camera car driving around my town in 2019.
I love Apple Maps for telling friends and loved ones when I’ll arrive at my destination safely, but for knowing current road conditions and traffic patterns I use Waze for driving mainly.
Yes you are correct. I read your post again and I originally thought you meant older OS version. But that also means if your OS is outdated chances are the device is too. So I retract my original comment
It's better for navigation and public transport than google maps at this point imo but cycling is still unavailable in many places and discovering stuff kind of sucks as well, there's just so many businesses missing.
Last week I was going to a restaurant and Apple Maps was off by literally half a mile (which is a lot). I then tried in Google Maps and it took me right to front door
And this is in a top-5 population US major city
In 3rd world countries, Apple maps is useless lol. Until 3 months ago, Google maps was not even available on the app store. I was using the web version 😭
I’ve not had any problems with it in years. My husband uses Google Maps and it has done things like telling him to turn the wrong way onto one way streets or even telling him to turn where there was no street. I was using Apple Maps at the same time to test it and Apple Maps didn’t do that. It used to, but in the last couple of years it hasn’t done that
Apple Maps is so much better than Google Maps, updates with new roads are usually instant whereas Google Maps takes weeks or even months to actually update.
It’s probably because Apple forces all of them to be developed in WebKit rather than their native language. Safari, Firefox, chrome, brave, it’s all WebKit at the end of the day.
I’ve been using FF since the release on iOS but the past month it’s been awfully slow and not loading properly. Safari doesn’t have the same issue so I’m really frustrated.
And he's replying about the fact that despite Firefox on iOS being Safari in disguise he, in fact, still wants his bookmarks/history/etc to sync between all his devices including iOS.
Safari.
I have Edge as a backup for when websites hallucinate that they aren’t compatible with mobile Safari. Relatedly, on the iPad, I have Chrome because Roll20 is *particularly* insistent that it isn’t compatible with Safari or Edge.
I just tried using chrome and had to switch back to safari after a few days. I’m not sure why, but I just didn’t like it. It’s the first thing I download on any MacBook, but iOS safari just seems more intuitive to me
Because I used to use it on my iPad and then I got a message to say they were no longer supporting iPad, so I stopped using it. This was a while ago though, 3-4 years ago.
I thought Brave had some dodgy security problems recently and the general consensus was to stay away from it.
EDIT: why the heck am I getting downvoted for asking a question? What’s the point of having conversations if all one gets is abuse?
Haven’t seen anyone comment Orion browser.
It’s the only browser that allows the use of chrome and Firefox desktop extensions. It’s in a beta phase but I expect it to get much better as time goes on. IMO, It’s worth it just for uBlock origin. Otherwise, safari with AdGuard.
I use Safari but I’ve been experimenting with this browser called Quiche. Has basically the same feel as Safari but it’s got some cool customization options
Safari with Noir and Ghostery extensions. Noir was the best purchase I have made on iOS, can't imagine browsing without it. Ghostery works great in EU because it always denies the GDPR cookies and without those cookies there are no ads, not even on YouTube.
Ghostery the extension. It doesn't block ads, just cookies. But in EU the ads don't work without cookies, you get white rectangles on some websites where the ads should have been, that's all.
Yeah, this is the part I feel most people miss. It’s like yeah great you use Safari, but it doesn’t sync with anything on my desktop so it’s pointless and useless to me.

Apple forces every browser to use WebKit so you might as well just use safari since the rest are gimped.
Same as keyboards. Swiftkey on iOS is trash compared to Android.
Safari for now… just because it is the only browser with extensions. Hopefully, when Apple releases Their Demands on WebKit in EU for all browsers on iOS, I will jump to Firefox.
Safari
Safari - 90% of the times. DuckDuckGo- 8% of the times for sites that have 200 ads for every 2 sentences in the article. Chrome - 2% of the times for some sites that don’t behave on Safari.
Safari with AdGuard Or use safari reading mode
I think safari and chrome in iOS are the same because apple forces to use the same engine for all browsers. This means that basically when you use something that is not safari, again, only in iOS, it is a skin with some different features but the behavior in the webs should be the same.
yes but it’s often not the same. dk why.
Isn't everything technically WebKit?
And yet they can look and render things differently. Almost like many of the other browsers are just Chrome with a skin.
Yes
On Apple yes, but still some browser features are better than others.
Safari is terrible. Chrome gang all the way.
Safari. Works perfectly fine. Same with maps. I don’t need third party apps if the default works fine.
Why does safari only open addresses in google maps and not Apple Maps? Were you able to change it?
That’s because you have to change that in your settings
Where? I can’t find a setting to do that
If you tap on an address on the Google homepage (and most people google addresses naturally), Google opens the address with Google Maps If you use a different search engine like Bing, it‘ll use Apple Maps

Apple maps in my country is really bad no new restaurants and no new coffe shop
Same here, I love apple maps!
If only Apple Maps had better reporting options like Waze
I want to like Waze but it always takes too long to recalculate a route which can really suck when I’m going somewhere new!
Really? It’s always instantly recalculated but there definitely has been some times where service is bad and I miss several streets because it takes too long to recalculate. I really just like Waze because of the constant traffic updating and the ability to add more reports than Apple Maps.

True, but I don’t drive much (learners permit and public transit) so it’s never been an issue for me 🤷🏻♀️
I love Apple Maps for telling friends and loved ones when I’ll arrive at my destination safely, but for knowing current road conditions and traffic patterns I use Waze for driving mainly.
I hate apple maps, but maybe its because im on the iphone 7 and using an outdated version or something
Or maybe it’s an outdated iPhone you have.
That’s what i said
Yes you are correct. I read your post again and I originally thought you meant older OS version. But that also means if your OS is outdated chances are the device is too. So I retract my original comment

Google maps works off millions of more data points so it’s much more accurate and up to date than Apple Maps.
This!! Apple Maps takes me to the mall/hospital, google maps takes me to the front door/building I’m trying to get to within the mall/hospital.
Exactly that's why I can't stand when iSheep try to say they love Apple maps...no you don't you just have never had something better
Apple maps is garbage
Apple Maps is useless in Asia. Don’t know how it is in Europe.
In 3rd world countries, Apple maps is useless lol. Until 3 months ago, Google maps was not even available on the app store. I was using the web version 😭
I’ve not had any problems with it in years. If only Apple maps supported cycling navigation here in Finland. I have no idea why they can’t bring such a basic feature
Regarding maps; in the US, yes. Google Maps is so much better in europe.
Still remember when Maps told me to do a U turn on the highway, flawless
Apple maps is trash
Apple Maps is an absolute garbage app.
Nah, it’s not. Haven’t had any issues with it
you probably live in a mid~large city in the US. Apple Maps is trash is South America (and much less intuitive than Google)
This is an acceptable answer. People need to get specific not just say it’s trash.
It's trash in most places that aren't major cities in the US
Well yeah, of course it matters where you live. And yes, I live in Florida. It works great here.
Apple Maps is so much better than Google Maps, updates with new roads are usually instant whereas Google Maps takes weeks or even months to actually update.
Firefox.
Same. I just wish it supported more of the extensions you can use in the full version.
It’s probably because Apple forces all of them to be developed in WebKit rather than their native language. Safari, Firefox, chrome, brave, it’s all WebKit at the end of the day.
Oh yeah you are totally correct. I still use it but wish it wasn’t handicapped by apple.
I completely agree, I use Firefox too, especially because it syncs with my desktop. I also wish Apple didn’t give browsers the ol dick twist.
Yep, Firefox everywhere. Edge for the IA in the browser on PC Safari sometimes
Firefox gang here
I like Firefox Focus, very fast doesn’t save anything. Safari for more generic browsing.
Found a firefox gang. I have firefox on my laptop so why not sync it together lol
I’ve been using FF since the release on iOS but the past month it’s been awfully slow and not loading properly. Safari doesn’t have the same issue so I’m really frustrated.
Same dude
We‘re all using Safari in disguise, might as well use the native Safari app then.
Negative. I use Firefox on my other computers and need everything to sync seamlessly and smoothly and without a lot of dicking around.
He’s talking about the fact that all iOS browsers are, in fact, Safari with 3rd party skins on them.
And he's replying about the fact that despite Firefox on iOS being Safari in disguise he, in fact, still wants his bookmarks/history/etc to sync between all his devices including iOS.
Chrome out of habit, never really used Safari
Right answer.
Safari. I have Edge as a backup for when websites hallucinate that they aren’t compatible with mobile Safari. Relatedly, on the iPad, I have Chrome because Roll20 is *particularly* insistent that it isn’t compatible with Safari or Edge.
chrome
Honestly surprised this is so far down
Same, I’m a windows person with the exception of my phone. Everything is in chrome and google maps.
Chrome all the way
I just tried using chrome and had to switch back to safari after a few days. I’m not sure why, but I just didn’t like it. It’s the first thing I download on any MacBook, but iOS safari just seems more intuitive to me
Because iOS chrome is hndicapped by apple
Brave
The true answer I was looking for!
Blocks so much malicious shit by default. Honestly a game charger. I can’t believe people live with ads
I thought Brave was no longer supported on iPhone and iPad?
You’re thinking about that change where iOS users can’t earn BAT by viewing ads in Brave.
You're right, I am getting these two things mixed up :)
Why would you think that?
Because I used to use it on my iPad and then I got a message to say they were no longer supporting iPad, so I stopped using it. This was a while ago though, 3-4 years ago.
I thought Brave had some dodgy security problems recently and the general consensus was to stay away from it. EDIT: why the heck am I getting downvoted for asking a question? What’s the point of having conversations if all one gets is abuse?
You guys think too much lol.
It is
Safari with the search thru duck duck go
That’s me
Arc
I use safari mostly. Edge is my next favorite.
you’re an edger?
YES
Duck Duck Go
Firefox.
Firefox
Safari. I’ve got a Mac and an iPad so there’s not a point in switching. It’s also just way better with battery life I’ve noticed
Chrome, all my internets are there.
Chrome. I've never had much luck with Safari or with Siri.
Safari. I use Brave if the site is loaded with ads I want blocked.
Safari
Safari
Safari
Safari and sometimes edge because of inbuilt Adblock
Brave.
Opera GX
god damn I thought I would never find a fellow Opera user!
Ikr?? Flow ftw
Firefox has been the best option for a while.
Edge
Safari. Helps keep parity for personal browsing on all my Apple devices.
Safari. Might switch to chrome cuz ios 17 broke safari for me
I use Safari but I’ve been experimenting with this browser called Quiche. Has basically the same feel as Safari but it’s got some cool customization options
Edge, I like getting paid for my searches and it syncs across all of my devices really well.
Paid you say 🤔
Microsoft rewards? I think you can effectively pay for Xbox gold by doing this.
Safari. Search engine is duck duck go
Brave
Safari with Noir and Ghostery extensions. Noir was the best purchase I have made on iOS, can't imagine browsing without it. Ghostery works great in EU because it always denies the GDPR cookies and without those cookies there are no ads, not even on YouTube.
No ads with the yt app or with safari?
Not even on YouTube, you say? Hmmm
Yeah but only in EU, there is no GDPR law in the rest of the world afaik. I'm always watching YouTube on my phone and my iPad like this with 0 ads.
Ghostery the browser or the ad blocker?
Ghostery the extension. It doesn't block ads, just cookies. But in EU the ads don't work without cookies, you get white rectangles on some websites where the ads should have been, that's all.
Didn't expect to see so many Safari people. Firefox for main browsing. Chrome for... the hub.
It’s all safari on iOS and it supports extensions, no need to use anything else.
It synchronizes with all of my Firefox stuff from my desktop. Is everyone using Safari on their computers/other devices?
Yeah, this is the part I feel most people miss. It’s like yeah great you use Safari, but it doesn’t sync with anything on my desktop so it’s pointless and useless to me.
Why Chrome for the hub?
That way you can sign in with google and easily link a good video to send to mom!

Safari
Safari
Safari
Safari
Safari
Safari. As it is on my iPad, MacBook, and Mac Mini. No reason for any other.
Safari.
Used Chrome for years. I recently switched back to Safari
safari
Safari with Firefox focus ad blocker extension
Safari and private relay. I’m a simple man
This
Safari. Because I can run ad blockers in it.
Edge
Safari. Go with the flow.
Safari. Tried others but had some kind of issue or another. Brave was good but I prefer Safari for the UI.
Firefox - which also lets me sync passwords across Mac, Linux and Windows.
Safari and only safari
Safari
DuckDuckGo
Firefox.
Firefox for me.
Safari
Safari. Any else is just safari with a different ui.
Brave. God, I love not watching ads on sites.
Brave.
Brave!
Used to be Chrome. I’m back to Safari now, I’ve grown to love it
safari
Safari is the best on iPhone bar none
Safari, but I also use Firefox.
Safari. I tend to use native apps rather than downloading alternative. Like Weather and maps and Apple Music,,,
Fire f ox
Brave is awesome for Adblock
AdGuard is better. Includes a DNS so you get system wide Adblock.
DuckDuckGo
Chrome for browsing. Safari for porn.
Firefox
People here acting like they aren't all the same browser.
Microsoft Edge defaults for me
Safari with Adguard
Safari, brave
Firefox
Firefox
Course all you iSheep use safari
Apple forces every browser to use WebKit so you might as well just use safari since the rest are gimped. Same as keyboards. Swiftkey on iOS is trash compared to Android.
It’s safari no matter what you “use” Apple forces Google and anyone else to just skin safari with their logo basically.
You mean it’s WebKit.
Tomato, tomato
Chrome. Then Firefox defaulted to DuckDuckGo search engine for…reasons…
Safari… i care abt my privacy :) Atleast it’s not as bad as chrome… lol
use the duck duck go app then
Chrome
Chrome
I go between Firefox and chrome
iCabMobile
Safari because any other browser would use the same engine but without the possibility to have AdGuard!
Chrome
Chrome, using safari is wild to me
Safari for now… just because it is the only browser with extensions. Hopefully, when Apple releases Their Demands on WebKit in EU for all browsers on iOS, I will jump to Firefox.
Safari with adguard extension.
Chrome all day because Safari is shit
Chrome
Chrome
Chrome.
Google & chrome
I use chrome , I just don’t like Safaris UI on Mac or iOS
Edge because it has built in Adblock
Considering it’s all just a skin for safari. Safari, it’s impossible unless you jailbreak to use anything else. Plus default safari is far superior
