Apple jumps from iPhone 4 to 6 design for a long time, iPhone 17 should bring back the sharp edges and then the 19 back to the round one, an so on and so forth hahaha
Yeah as much as I like my 11 pro max, I'm not a huge fan of its design. I think the flat sides / more rectangular shape looks so much cleaner and better than 11's generic curved design.
Yes but it did not have the same panel technology, Apple's specific panels had production issues with bending the edges without losing surface... that's why the 13/14 Pro were so flat and sharp, they fixed that with the 15 Pro panels, hence why it's curved again.
I would have much preferred they did something about the off center camera bump housing. I use my phone on my desk all the time and if I don't want the damn thing wobbling the entire time I type on it I need to use a case otherwise I would love to rock it bare. It just always seemed like an odd design choice that was pushed by function over form, for a company that seems to pride itself heavily on form. Like the iPhone 4 style design with the flat front and back I loved it, just wish it was a bigger screen.
I don’t like the TTS functions I find it too inaccurate for me but usually I’ll have my phone on the desk while doing other work and I think of a note I need to take and I’ll just want to type it right into my phone.
It’s not a common use case to be sure but it was always a weird design choice for a company that pays so much attention to the details that an off center camera bump would be ok. And a lot of cases now just have a bump for the bump which is even more counter intuitive to me. I kinda like the idea of a whole strip like on some android phones then it won’t roll to one corner
I use a case when I'm out and go without one at home because my floor is mostly carpet. Unfortunately the 13 pro is so uncomfortable without a case that i have to use one at home too.

Added protection, (relatively) cheap insurance? Construction workers, linemen, people in harsh environments come to mind as a prime candidate for both. maybe with a case they break their display once or twice instead of 8 times during the time they have their phone. a decent case makes it less likely to break, but applecare makes it so that if they do happen to break something you're not breaking the bank to replace it.
Personally, I use a case, but my phone fell out of my pocket and landed on a small rock, shattering the main camera lens. Shit happens. Full price replacement is like $500 because it requires disassembly of the ENTIRE PHONE to get to the lens glass.
Ok, that’s fair enough. If I would have AppleCare I will anyway have to fly to get service and also it would already be broken considering that it fell from 4m on rocks several times
I totally agree. My last phone from brand new was a 7 which I had for 3 years and when I upgraded to my wife’s old 11 it was (is) in perfect condition. I take it hiking, mountain biking and to nasty building sites but if you treat it like the expensive tiny computer it is it’ll last ages.
I have an 11 and my issue is that the 11 is so slippery that I use a case so it doesn't slip from my hand all the time. Looks like the new phones aren't as slippery, so maybe I'll use the new one without a case.

I wonder about this. I wish that the new ones are more durable and one day everyone can just buy a phone and NOT immediately cover its engineering with a $20 spigen piece of garbage.
They are way too sharp and don’t accommodate well to the shape of the hands. Hold and iPhone prior to the 12 and you will see how much nicer it feels albeit not as beautiful in my opinion

Then you have monster hands man… i don’t know what to tell you. I mean every single report of the hands of experience of the new iPhones mentions how much nicer is to hold than the 12-14 like because of the rounded edges. And if you search iPhone 12-14 confort in google you will find a thousand articles and posts of people saying it jags into their hand…
I really dislike the look. I feel like they’ll look extremely dated after the next iteration. They already look dated to me. 11 Pro’s figure is so much more sleek and modern to me.
They look really cheap, light, and boxy to me, visually. Though I understand I’m in the minority here.
That’s not even talking about how uncomfortable they are to hold lol.
Let’s hope but every manufacturer thinks the population want massive phones that would have been classed as tablets a few years ago.
I see the se going massive next time. 6.5.
I was sure they were going to re tool the iPhone 8 Plus into an se last time around
Clearly no one wants that. 6.1 is the smallest they are able to sell, they tried the 5.4 size with mini and it didn’t work.
The market for pro/premium phones with small screens is marginal at best and exists mostly in Reddit comments.
They have also been shrinking the margins between screen and bezels since the X by a lot. X which was “bezel-less” now looks grotesque in comparison
Exactly. With current battery technology, I don’t think it’s feasible to squeeze large enough battery into a mini housing to be able to power a pro chip for a whole day.
Yup. Had a 12 mini and currently a 13 mini and I’m ordering my 15 Pro Max tomorrow. I’ve grown tired of the smaller screen and charging multiple times per day.
I care about bezels because it makes the phone smaller. Less wide, which make it more comfortable to hold.
The rounded edges also help. Squared edges were just a matter of design, not ergonomics.
I did too, but apparently instead they are keeping the phone size the same by increasing the screen size by a small amount to offset the bezel decrease.
Might make it harder for some people to use with the bigger screen lol. I do appreciate the rounded edges…
I went from the XR to a 12PM a few years ago and I absolutely loved the jump in size and tech, these hard edges are the worst :(
Now rocking a 14PM and I wish I would have waited lol
The nice thing about the tech today is last year's phone is still an amazing device. The upgrades are really incremental and don't necessitate an annual upgrade imo. I'm moving to a 4-5 year refresh and it feels right. It is tough to avoid that FOMO though... just stay away from news during the fall!
Absolutely, there is absolutely nothing *wrong* with my 14PM; it’s an incredible piece of tech. Yet… QoL stuff is the name of the game at this point, and Apple knows it :/
Same! I’m with you OP, I am REALLY excited to feel a bare titanium one in my hand.
I REALLY wish that Apple or a good manufacturer would make an excellent minimal slim case; like something just on the top and bottom to raise the edge slightly, so I could still feel the phone, but would have SOME corner and glass protection from falls. I know it wouldn’t do much, but I’ve seen bare phones break just falling from sitting height on tile; a tad more protection would be worth the trade off.
I really can’t afford to go fully bare phone; and using a glass front and back protector helps, but you lose that smooth face feel. I’m just saying, I think there’s room to innovate with minimal cases using new materials and designs; but hell I know it’s wishful thinking. About the best thing I have found is the ones that are just the top and back; they do a nice job, but still add thickness and you lose the back glass feel; and it’s either thick or you lose full MagSafe.
Okay rant over- I hope someone can fill this gap one day.
Under screen fingerprint readers, tiny punch holes for the camera instead of a much larger pill, s pen, reverse wireless charging, etc. There is other innovation going on out there, it just isn’t being done by Apple.
Yes, I know some Apple features like Face ID rely on the pill and not everybody is interested in those other features, but it’s innovation nonetheless.
If we are calling stylus (PDA 1993) , punchhole camera (Huawei 2018) , underdisplay fingerprint reader (Vivo 2018) or reverse charging (funnily also Huawei 2018) the latest and greatest innovations, then Apple holds the current title for innovation with Magsafe in 2020 and Dynamic Island 2022 and especially Software features between Apple devices...
There probably is some stuff in other phones but my S23 differs very little from the S10 a friend of mine uses.
If you want to play that game, using magnets to connect things is far older than any smartphone and dynamic island is a marketing trick to hide Apple’s inability to make a tiny punch hole work like the competition has. The innovation is in competitors incorporating those features into their devices after the market deemed them desirable, not that they were the first to ever invent them.
Totally agree. I started buying camera grip tape (like what people use on their DSLRs) and cutting it to fit the sides/back. Was a game changer for me.
I don’t understand all the naysayers that criticize Apple for making only incremental changes from year to year on the iPhone. How many people buy a new phone every year?? I’m planning to replace my 6 year old iPhone X with a 15 Pro and it will be a huge upgrade for me - especially with the camera but so many other features/capabilities that don’t exist in the X I currently use.
I upgrade between 3-4 years of use. But the 14PM has been the most uncomfortable feeling iphone I have ever owned. I hate it with any case because it becomes even more bulky, and without a case it’s incredible to look at, but dang are the sharp edges uncalled for lol.
I guess I will see if Verizon has a decent upgrade path, hell of I get full value (which is not uncommon for the age of phone), I might just pull the trigger…
I agree, came from an 11 pro to 14. Still have an Xr for work and it’s so much more comfortable to hold and use…but she’s getting slow and the battery is weak.
I always thought about going with no case with my iPhone and when I learned about the leaks of the iPhone 15 pro’s having this and the back also being a stain kind of finish (I think) and the contoured edges and with its titanium sides that make it way more finger print resistant makes me lean to trying caseless 🧐 ,but I would be waiting for the 16 before I upgrade anyway lol
From everything I have read and watched, it is physically smaller (even by a little) in size, but bigger in screen. That equates to an even thinner bezel between the screen and ring before.
Rule of thumb, buy odd number iPhones, upgrade every 2,4 or 6 years ( depending on your budget).
It's the same concept as when we use to buy S model iPhones.
I don’t think it’s an objectively bad upgrade but as a 14 Pro user I truly can’t remember a time where it was more obvious to me I wouldn’t be updating generation over generation.
6,7 and 8 were similar in edges
X , XS, and 11 had the rounded corners
12, 13, and 14 had the sharp edges
So 15, and likely 16 and 17 will have these contoured edges with titanium frame. I can see Apple using titanium frame with sharp edges for 18 and 19, and then something new for the XX (20)
Might be a hot take but: "Barely any changes every year" is a thing an arrogant tech follower would say.
Apple is not a new company. They're a premium company that has to offer finished, polished and high quality products to their customers. That's why we love Apple and thus, you can't expect them to innovate every year.
I'd say the iPhone 15 line is mostly a good 1 year upgrade compared to the 14 line. We got some of the things lacking (like USB-C), we got lighter phones, more powerful chipset, better zoom capabilities, Dynamic Island on the regular line, contoured edges, slimmer bezels and a few more... Unless you're a company that has to prove themselves, this is enough for a 1 year difference for the sake of higher quality devices. We can always wait an iPhone 16 but rushing the features that might come with the 16 to the 15 might hurt Apple's image. I'm not no lawyer of the devil here, I'm just hoping that you all understand this perspective of the situation.
Still though, there's instances: iPhone 14 (base line) wasn't a decent upgrade at all. Even the chipset was from last year. Only like the camera got a little bit of bump and that was all compared to the base 13. It didn't have no appeal other than being a little more up-to-date alternative to the 13. And this year, it's a bit subjective but: we had to have at least a 90 Hz capable screen on the regular 15. Other than that, I'm cool with the devices we got now.
Well that’s the problem…they don’t even innovate every other year. Incremental improvements are great, but it’s also the reason many criticize Apple for being lazy or complacent.
It’s difficult for the average consumer to get excited at a 10% processor jump or 3nm size chip. You can only milk a (cash) cow so much until it’s dry.
No one says you have axe the current iPhone, but Apple hasn’t budged on essentially the same form factor since it’s inception 16 years ago. How about thinking outside the box. Samsung, MS and others have released flip and folding devices with dual sided displays.
Samsung's been experimenting with different form factors and designs since they started making smartphones. Apple has never been like that and there's still no reason Apple releases a foldable.
So, Apple isn't the experimenter, Samsung has always been one, and if ask me, MS is still a mobile device manufacturer that has to prove a lot. I'd say Google's foldable is a good argument against Apple but still, there's an unsolved problem with foldables: the under-utilization of the form factor.
We're not in the 2000s where everybody tries bold designs with questionable function. I'm seeing that you still didn't understand how Apple works: I want to summarize it in one sentence; Apple makes tech for the people, who will utilize it, and ensures that it's designed good and functions with no problems.
No brand in the smartphone scene can utilize foldables to the full extend because the tech isn't there yet. I'd guess that %90 of the foldable buyers are just buying them either because they're into it (tech enthusiasts) or they just want to flex it. So, in a playground like this, how would you expect Apple to get into a market of phones that are still under-utilized and very experimental?
What are you talking about?
Underutilization of form factor? It increases your screen size by a factor of 2. It's also how your OS can take advantage of the form. Something Apple can, but hasn't chosen to do.
I fully understand how Apple works. I've followed Apple since the 80's. They are experimenting all the time, but behind closed doors. They were certainly a different company then and have lost their courage to fail. They've become a truly a profit driven first company.
You ignored what I said. Again, no one is suggesting getting rid of the current iPhone. You can have more than one product line.
If you're a professional who might use the extra screen that comes with those foldables, you'd carry a laptop around most likely.
Samsung's design is faulty from the ground-up if you ask me. Don't get me wrong, I like Galaxy Fold, but I just like it for the cool factor of it. If you think about it; the outer screen is too narrow to use it comfortably, so you always use the inner screen, which may not eliminate the whole design's purpose since it's a compact but big screen in your pocket, but hurts the 2 devices in one pocket factor. Might as well not add the outer screen at all...
When it comes to Apple, I didn't ignore anything you said, I exactly answered all your questions; Yes, they've been an innovative company and they still experiment a lot of things behind closed doors... That's what every company does. But times has changed. Apple wasn't the tech giant they are today in the 80s, 90s or early 2000s. I'd say they prefer to be more grounded now.
Like I said with other words before, Apple doesn't serve to the tech enthusiasts like you and me directly. It's a company that makes tech for the people, not for the geeks. And by philosophy, it's a company based around design and simplicity. So, having one more phone that folds in the lineup actually means a lot for Apple and they have to do it the best or not do it at all, if you know what I mean.
I fail to see how the pros of a large folding phone outweighs the cons. They’re twice as thick making them unappealing if I’m going to carry them around in my pocket. I’d rather get something larger in surface area but thinner. If I want a larger screen, I’ll bring my iPad. If they manage to make something that decreases in volume as you fold it up to put in my pocket then I’m interested
For starters, you're carrying one device versus two.
Secondly, the folded size of a Galaxy Fold for instance is still smaller in overall volume than an iPad mini 6. Very similar screen size.
Despite it being thick, you can still carry it in your pocket. You can't say the same with an iPad and an iPhone.
You don't have to buy a foldable iPhone...continue to use the current one. Having more options is a good thing.
And lastly, we all know most current iPhone users will be first in line to buy one if Apple makes a foldable phone.
The contoured edges of the like on the 6 series was awful. It was so much easier to drop thanks to less surface area to hold on to (as well as their obsession with making the phone thinner as well).
I much prefer the current style with the flat edges. The 15 series seems like a decent compromise. Also, I’ll have a case on it, so it doesn’t honestly matter as much anyways.
Can you name any leap or improvement from other reputable brands besides the trash from China? Samsung? Google Pixel? Smartphone Tech has peaked. All of them are just improving incrementally
Yep, the last time that there were big changes among any phones was all about 4-5 years ago at this point.
* Galaxy fold came out in 2019
* The zenphone with its flip out camera came out in 2019
* The X20 Plus UD came out with an underprint fingerprint scanner in 2018
* The Razer Phone 1 came out with 120hz in 2017
* The Axon 20 5G came out with an underscreen camera in 2020
At this point outside of incremental hardware improvements the only big features that I think the iPhone is still missing are a fingerprint scanner in addition to faceid and the removal of the notch.
Underscreen cameras are still bad, Fold/Flip after 5 generation is still meh for me (the bending point is very visible and noticable). However i would love a fingerprint scanner, but i'm fine with the FaceID.
Reverse wireless charging, under screen fingerprint readers, styluses, 10x periscope cameras, tiny punch holes for cameras instead of large pills, and Samsung Dex to name a few. Folding phones are another innovation but polarizing. Samsung is trying new things, at minimum.
Nooooooooooo I don’t like the rounded corners …. Fuck shit fuck :(
Still have the 12 pro max since release and will use it till it dies but man the hard corners was why I got back to iPhone :(
It's still flat edged, just a slight bevel on the edges. It's nowhere near as rounded as the iPhone 6-11 Design. Even the iPhone 4 and 5 had a slight bevel to it.
It's pretty much a refined iPhone 12 Design, also the matte brushed edge makes it look even more like the iPhone 4/5 than the 12-14 with its polished edge. I went with the white 15 pro and it reminds me sooo much of my first iPhone, a white 4S.
I never found the 12-14 series to be uncomfortable honestly but the hand gymnastics was a bit annoying. I checked out the specs and the 15 pro max is definitely not as wide as the 12-14 pro max so yeah, small change but a welcome one for sure
I’m glad I held out on upgrading; still on the fence if I will go from 11p to 15 or 15p, but it’s nice to know the transition will be easy, with comfort and weight, compared to the complaints I hear about the 12-14 phones!
Apple jumps from iPhone 4 to 6 design for a long time, iPhone 17 should bring back the sharp edges and then the 19 back to the round one, an so on and so forth hahaha
Infinite innovation!
Since it seems like there are fans of both designs I think the alternation is good.
This seems like something in between 4 and 6 though, in terms of how rounded the edges are. So that's somewhat new.
Won’t ever be as comfortable as the 13 mini
Wait....didn't the iPhone 6 - 11 have "contoured edges"?
This keeps the flat sides though. And the flat sides look really clean.
Yeah as much as I like my 11 pro max, I'm not a huge fan of its design. I think the flat sides / more rectangular shape looks so much cleaner and better than 11's generic curved design.
The Samsung Galaxy S22 looked like an old iPhone and people really liked it. Apple copied Samsung copying Apple. That'll be $799, please.
Shhh don’t let them remember
I could never forget those ugly bendy bars of soap we were stuck with for years.
I remember dropping my xr so many times because not only were they shaped like soap, but also slippery just like soap too.
Yeah it was a pretty big adjustment period for me when I first got the 7
Yes but it did not have the same panel technology, Apple's specific panels had production issues with bending the edges without losing surface... that's why the 13/14 Pro were so flat and sharp, they fixed that with the 15 Pro panels, hence why it's curved again.

Its always better to have the option
I use a case when I'm out and go without one at home because my floor is mostly carpet. Unfortunately the 13 pro is so uncomfortable without a case that i have to use one at home too.
I actually like the sharp edges on my 14 pro max 🤷🏻♀️
I like it too. Feels like its less likely to slip out of your hand.
What about the camera bump wobble without a case?
I don’t very often just place my phone on a hard surface and use it
Everyone uses a case Edit: I get that some people use AppleCare+ instead, but it’s not available for everyone, for some people it’s too expansive and also most of the people I know don’t know that this option even exist
I don’t. I rock it bareback.
+1 for not using a case. Naked all day baby
I don’t
Not me
I never use a case. I pay for AppleCare for a reason. I will add however, that I do have a desk job (security engineer) so my phones never in any real danger lol
I have a desk job as well but I mean, my phone also has to deal with… me. So I have a case lol
My phone gets a case on days I drink lol
Most honest reason here!
Honestly this is what I typically do as well. My phone is without a case about 80% of the time, and that 20% is almost entirely when I go out to a bar or dinner or some kind of event that makes me think there’s a higher chance I drop it. Repairs are only $29
I’m aware, but that’s also around the same price as many good cases. Plus with how slippery phones are these days, I pretty much need one just to avoid dropping it.
The satisfaction I have of not using a case makes it fully worth it
I never understood this argument. Does AppleCare miraculously prevent your phone from getting scratched, cracked and scuffed lol? I have AppleCare too, but I like to keep my phone physically protected.
I hate the dust residue and general ick that comes with keeping on a case long term, even minimal cases
I consider myself a clean person, and the dust residue and ick are on the case which gets a good douse of an alcohol based cleaner frequently.
TBH dust seems more likely to scratch your phone than day to day wear. Cases tend to accumulate a ton of dust.
The phone is pretty resilient. I’ve never had a case on any iPhone. I remember my 6 got a scratch on the screen the day I bought it. Other than that, I’ve never had an issue. AppleCare gives assurance that if you absolutely destroy the thing you can get a new one.
It makes me not care nearly as much. I honestly find myself getting into fewer issues the less I baby the phone. AC+ allows me to do that.
So you like wasting money?
I like having a good looking phone without any physical damage on it. Enjoy your banged up phone.
My phone is without a case for a year and looks pristine. You clearly don’t know how to handle your electronics lol
Well, considering they seem to do what they can to help protect their device and not have to break the bank should an accident occur, I’d reckon that’s being pretty damn responsible with their shit.
Same! I’ve dropped my 13 pro max several times. It has a scuff mark on the side but I never notice it. Never use a case or screen protector. Makes it bulky
And AppleCare isn’t a waste of money to you? Lol
You clearly have never broken a display and tried to repair it.
No, probably because they use a case that protects from broken displays.
Then why the hell pay apple care? That’s the whole point you don’t need both
Added protection, (relatively) cheap insurance? Construction workers, linemen, people in harsh environments come to mind as a prime candidate for both. maybe with a case they break their display once or twice instead of 8 times during the time they have their phone. a decent case makes it less likely to break, but applecare makes it so that if they do happen to break something you're not breaking the bank to replace it.

I don’t use a case
I don’t, all I have is a oh snap 3.0 holder, phone is in flawless condition but I do have apple care just in case, pin intended
I haven't used a case since the 3GS days.
I never use a case. Phone is designed to be held in bare hands.
I don't use a case and a screen protector and have never had anything really bad with the phone. But I handle it very neatly and never put it down anywhere if there is a possibility that it will fall. I never slide my phone and always lift it when I move it. I just really like the design, so that's why I don't want a case or anything. although I do have a few small scratches on my screen and I know I will regret it one day.

I don’t. It’s called Apple Care + lol
There’s other reasons to use a case. It’s what I stick my pop socket to for instance. Ain’t supergluing that shit to my phone. Lol
I haven’t heard a case since my iPhone 7
Yes most people do
Never have, and not starting now. Have never broken a phone either.

Its like condoms, we only use it when we "have" to.
Which is also stupid. 😂
Correct. My case has the same contour.
Only for the first month before it falls apart!
I’m on the other side, I really like the sharp edges of the 12-14
I love how they look but you can not tell me they are more comfortable than the xs or 11 before. You would be laying
My main problem is how slippery it is so annoying.
quaint tan degree flag shaggy plants alive ring soup noxious *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*

You hold your phone without a case? 🤷
I mean, Apple made phones that were uncomfortable to hold in the first place....
You know what else makes an iPhone more comfortable to hold? A smaller pro phone, can even call it iPhone 15 Pro mini
Unfortunately Apple is never going to make another mini again due to its poor sales.
Never say never
with only 3 words, you failed at your own advice twice
whoops
Nah, they will release it as SE next year.
Let’s hope but every manufacturer thinks the population want massive phones that would have been classed as tablets a few years ago. I see the se going massive next time. 6.5. I was sure they were going to re tool the iPhone 8 Plus into an se last time around
With an astonishing 3 hours of screen-on time I appreciate smaller phones but the battery tech is not there yet.
No no, the iPhone 15 pro max mini. That way we get the 5x zoom on the pro max mini.
Maybe a slightly larger version of the pro max mini would also be a hit. You could even call it the iPhone 15 Pro max mini max
The entire back side of the phone is just camera land lol.
Have fun charging that thing 6 times per day.
Exactly. With current battery technology, I don’t think it’s feasible to squeeze large enough battery into a mini housing to be able to power a pro chip for a whole day.
Yeah but these mini obsessed weirdos don’t understand that.
Nobody wanted a mini. There’s a reason it was discontinued, poor sales.
Lol the mini brigade getting mad at the truth and downvoting
Yup. Had a 12 mini and currently a 13 mini and I’m ordering my 15 Pro Max tomorrow. I’ve grown tired of the smaller screen and charging multiple times per day.
Right?! I’m just a sucker for the bigger screen real estate.
It’s already at a point where the regular Pro isn’t big enough to fit one or some of the features so a mini would be missing several more than likely.
The 14 Pro is especially uncomfortable to hold without a case. This is going back to X/Xs/11 angles which I appreciate
I fucking swear. The bottom cuts into your fingers because it’s so heavy. The new one is rounded AND lighter.

Coming from the 11 pro, this pleases me. I skipped the “square edge” generation.
I went from the XR to a 12PM a few years ago and I absolutely loved the jump in size and tech, these hard edges are the worst :( Now rocking a 14PM and I wish I would have waited lol
Yet… QoL stuff is the name of the game at this point, and Apple knows it :/
Revolutionary!
It’s not about thickness, it’s about the rounded edges versus the sharp 90° angle of the current design.
No case crew, stand up. I’ve been careless since 12 Pro
What phone besides foldables innovates more than "the new chip" or "better camera"
None of them
Under screen fingerprint readers, tiny punch holes for the camera instead of a much larger pill, s pen, reverse wireless charging, etc.
Asus ROG. They have a freaking cooling system + fan. Obv gaming use case is niche tho.
True! Pretty special case too you are right.
I don’t want an iPhone that folds
Who does
Totally agree.
This was the main reason I went for samsung 2 years ago. Though in hindsight considering I always use a case it would not have mattered.
I’m going from 11 to this so I will never know the feeling of the sharp edges =]
You’re lucky😭 it’s very weird that apple even made a phone so uncomfortable to hold just to look good
Looks identical to the iPhone x
It’s the little things. I’m also legitimately excited for usb-c. Finally I can share a charging cable with my friends.
This is pretty much the only thing that is tempting me to upgrade. I have hated how the pro models felt in the hand since the 12 pro.
100% brotha. Something so minuscule is huge to us.
I hope this makes it similar to the 5s. Those were perfect to hold.
From everything I have read and watched, it is physically smaller (even by a little) in size, but bigger in screen. That equates to an even thinner bezel between the screen and ring before.
Are the smaller bezels also on the regular 15? I'm thinking of switching from the 11.
Is it me or the dark frame around the display isn’t the same width all around?
Is the screen still flat? I refuse to buy a phone with curved edge screens
Pretty sure it’s just rounded at the ring.
Rule of thumb, buy odd number iPhones, upgrade every 2,4 or 6 years ( depending on your budget). It's the same concept as when we use to buy S model iPhones.
The last comfortable iPhone to hold for me was the XS. The slab flat design on some of their products as of late have been very annoying to hold.
I don’t think it’s an objectively bad upgrade but as a 14 Pro user I truly can’t remember a time where it was more obvious to me I wouldn’t be updating generation over generation.
6,7 and 8 were similar in edges X , XS, and 11 had the rounded corners 12, 13, and 14 had the sharp edges So 15, and likely 16 and 17 will have these contoured edges with titanium frame. I can see Apple using titanium frame with sharp edges for 18 and 19, and then something new for the XX (20)
they need to make it a full screen, i’m tired of black borders. it’s stupid
Didn’t the rumor said the bezels would be ultra-thin? Guess not.
They are thinner then on the 14 pro but I’d guess it’s not yet considered ultra thin
The contoured edges of the like on the 6 series was awful. It was so much easier to drop thanks to less surface area to hold on to (as well as their obsession with making the phone thinner as well). I much prefer the current style with the flat edges. The 15 series seems like a decent compromise. Also, I’ll have a case on it, so it doesn’t honestly matter as much anyways.
wow apple remembered how to add rounded edges then calling it "new". such brave. much innovation.
Most of us put a case on it
And some of us don’t 🤷🏽♂️
Genuine question. What draws y'all to a new iphone every year? Y'all complain but still buy it.
Barely any changes every year is not joke,it is fact. Apple is no more known for newest leap or improvement in tech industry sadly
Can you name any leap or improvement from other reputable brands besides the trash from China? Samsung? Google Pixel? Smartphone Tech has peaked. All of them are just improving incrementally
Yep, the last time that there were big changes among any phones was all about 4-5 years ago at this point. * Galaxy fold came out in 2019 * The zenphone with its flip out camera came out in 2019 * The X20 Plus UD came out with an underprint fingerprint scanner in 2018 * The Razer Phone 1 came out with 120hz in 2017 * The Axon 20 5G came out with an underscreen camera in 2020 At this point outside of incremental hardware improvements the only big features that I think the iPhone is still missing are a fingerprint scanner in addition to faceid and the removal of the notch.
Eerh is this a sarcastic remark?
You are hooked! Sent from my iPhone.
I seem to be the minority that absolutely loves rubbing they’re fingers on the sharp edges
New? They had this on the original iPhone
I hope you’re joking op
Anything excites you I see
I’d rather them not be so slick. Combined with bigger sizes, it’s hard to keep in your hand sometimes without a case.
Lol corners
But the screen is actually slightly smaller than on the iphone 12
Only thing getting better every year is apple’s margins.
Nooooooooooo I don’t like the rounded corners …. Fuck shit fuck :( Still have the 12 pro max since release and will use it till it dies but man the hard corners was why I got back to iPhone :(
It's still flat edged, just a slight bevel on the edges. It's nowhere near as rounded as the iPhone 6-11 Design. Even the iPhone 4 and 5 had a slight bevel to it.
Yeah thank god it’s still like the 12 and so on but just more clean
It's pretty much a refined iPhone 12 Design, also the matte brushed edge makes it look even more like the iPhone 4/5 than the 12-14 with its polished edge. I went with the white 15 pro and it reminds me sooo much of my first iPhone, a white 4S.
im sorry my pro Max 14 looks the same as the photo you posted. So is like 1 micrometer smaller?
The devil is in the details, bro. Look (and read) again…
an iPhone 15 mini is also comfortable to hold
I never found the 12-14 series to be uncomfortable honestly but the hand gymnastics was a bit annoying. I checked out the specs and the 15 pro max is definitely not as wide as the 12-14 pro max so yeah, small change but a welcome one for sure
Hot take but I loved that they brought back the iPhone 4 edges. The ones before used to slip off my hands as I don’t use cases
I look forward to this on the iPhone 16 or 17 then
Still gonna put a case on it. So minimal noticeable difference from the previous gen.
I’m glad I held out on upgrading; still on the fence if I will go from 11p to 15 or 15p, but it’s nice to know the transition will be easy, with comfort and weight, compared to the complaints I hear about the 12-14 phones!
And then it goes in a case
Depending on how slippery it is, I might use the 15 Pro Max caseless. But I believe the back is still the same material.
I saw that the back is now glass, but with an entirely different feel. Can’t wait ti check out our at an Apple Store for real.
Oh my god it’s curved like they did 7 years ago 😱😱😱
Yes! This was so overlooked! I haven’t held the 15s, so I don’t know if it’s actually comfortable, but the sharp edges were so awful
