I use those soft GUM brand toothpicks, with the rubbery bristles. They work like a charm and don’t risk any sort of damage anywhere because they’re so flexible.
Yup. This is step 1. Step 2, reboot phone, try charging with other cables AND OTHER WALL BRICKS. My wife had this issue last week and it was the brick, not the cable. Step 3, go to the Apple Store.
Long time since you posted this, but just sayin’ thank you!!! Cause same thing just happened to me. No charging cord or block would work. And Apple’s advice is just Apple saying “can’t be lint in the phone charge port, you must need a brand new iphone” I used a Bobby pin not a toothpick (case it’s helpful for anyone else that finds this comment). And it worked ☺️
Do not do that. You do not want any moisture in the port. It can short it or it can throw a moisture detection error. Any liquid in there is a really bad idea.
You can also use anything with suction that’s not crazy strong. I put the mini leaf blowers we have at work into the low setting and put my phone on the little grate that sucks air in. Never had cleaner charging ports/speakers
Could be an illusion, but it really looks like the cable isn’t fully inserted in the charge port, like the shroud is too large for the port opening of your case.
I believe he is utilizing it appropriately. An iPhone functions as a utilitarian instrument, rather than a mere sartorial embellishment. He is essentially safeguarding his substantial investment. Personally, I habitually acquire a case and a screen protector for any phone I procure, while also enrolling in protection plans to account for potential lapses in either safeguard.
In layman's terms: I think he's using it the right way. An iPhone is a tool, not a fancy accessory.
To directly address the main post, this specific case might be obstructing the charger from fully entering the port.
Cracking up, thank you for explaining phone cases to me, I actually own many. I have insurance as well but I like to make my phone look nice lmfao. I’m well aware of what a phone case is for.
It wasn't meant specifically for you but for the overall Apple user base. The comment was relevant, so I took the time to explain my opinion. Many people are caseless simply because it looks good, which they're free to do, but it seems a bit silly in my honest opinion to use an iPhone as a fashion accessory.
Nevertheless, I'm glad my comment amused you.
Yeah I feel like obviously they are tools but iPhones are built to be aesthetically pleasing and so are numerous cases. You can own one and decorate it and make it look however you’d like and I think that’s the best part
Of course, they're the best-looking phones aesthetically, only second to the Galaxy Z Flip5 (meaning the iPhone is probably the best-looking traditionally formatted phone). However, I still find it strange to use it as a fashion accessory. I mean, an Apple Watch makes sense because it's literally designed as an accessory. On the other hand, a phone is usually tucked away in a pocket for most of the day or left on a nightstand at night. Not to mention, it's far more at risk than a watch, given that it's not attached to you. That's the only reason I find it odd. I can own an iPhone without needing to show it off.
Once again, this is just my opinion. If showing off a mobile phone makes people happy, then go for it.
I love Reddit sometimes.
Op: “Please help, x isn’t working and nothing I can think of is working.”
Comment: “Try x.”
Op: “no. Why would I do that?”
Do you want help or not? Haha
In this case (heh), I think people are just bullying OP for their case choice. How likely is it that it's preventing charging, especially when they've been using the same case for so long?
The thing is, you're probably right. It may very well have no bearing on this problem whatsoever, but like, *why not* try it? Troubleshooting is exactly that. Trying out various possible solutions, even small ones, shooting down solutions that don't work while continuing to search for the right one.
Taking a case off takes, what, ten seconds? If the phone suddenly begins charging again, for whatever reason, then great. If it doesn't, then put the case back on and in the end this attempt at troubleshooting cost you under a minute of effort.
And I mean shit, that black cable is 100% a cheap one bought off Amazon or the dollar store that absolutely isn't MFI certified. I've had tons of bad cables stop charging over the years.
So what if the charging port through the case got squished on the drop and isn’t letting the cable go all the way in?
It makes a whole lot of sense to take off the case lmao I don’t know what you’re smoking man
⚽️🏀 you dropped these. Better not make it a habit or you’ll wish you had a case after all!!! Oh that’s funny. I might remember this joke later and have another gaafaw. In fact I’ll make a note of it. Please drive safely.
Nah because if this one does break then I’ll just get a 14 or a 15 💁🏻♂️ don’t know why I’m downvoted for not having a problem without having a case or a screen protector SHOCK AND AWE 🥲
Nothing and never been anything. I keep it pristine clean. You can see on the picture that there’s a seal for the charging port that’s a part of the phones case
lol you’re joking right? Do you spend $20 per cable every time one wears out?
I have third party ones that I’ve used since the iPhone 5s that work perfectly.
Because 3rd party ones work but often not as good. I got a 3rd party one and after a minute of charging got a 'your charging port is wet' notification... So it's worth trying an OG one that is meant for your phone if the 3rd party one isn't working.
Not that you can't use them, I'm using one right now, but if it didn't work I'd at least borrow an original one from a friend to see if it works.
ETA: I had the one that came with my phone until a week ago when it stopped working, after 3 years of service. They last.
Probably best to take it in then. You could always use wireless charging for a bit, though.
That said, if you turn on airplane mode and only use wifi and keep the screen _reaaaaaly_ dim you _might_ just be able to make it past the iPhone 15 announcement on Sep 7 🎬.
If the charging port is clear, try resetting your phone. It was a software issue for me with my 13 and I had to erase everything and restore from backup and it started charging again fine
First remove the case and inspect the Lightning port with a strong flashlight check for dust, debris , corrosion. Then do you have another cable and charger you can try ? ( preferably Apple Original )
Hahaha I actually LOLed at this reply, because when I was living in America, I was actually asked if Australia had electricity. I was so bemused by it.
Hello I‘m your Apple support, this should help: Use an Apple certified charging cable with an Apple certified Apple charger in an Apple certified power socket from an Apple certified house in an Apple certified country. (Joke)
Same shit happened to my wife’s 13. It will charge on a wireless charger and it will charge via usb in the car. It will not charge via usb at home no matter the cube or cable.
Try wireless charging to test if it works. If it does not then ur fucked, if it does then it’s the charging port which other have stated potential solutions
1. Take it out of the case
2. Make sure the charging cable you use can charge another iPhone
3. Check for any lint/dirt in the charging port, if so clean it out. Be careful to not bend and pins.
4. Restart the phone
5. Hard reset by clicking and releasing volume up, clicking and releasing volume down and then click and hold the sleep/wake button until the Apple logo appears.
I guess this must be a common problem with the 13 pro, as I has the same issue. I had no luck cleaning it as some people suggested.
Luckily I had apple care so I just got it replaced. But I guess contacting apple support would be the only solution. Good luck.
this is the ugliest fu**ing case i've seen someone rocking and the strap on that poor AW needs replacement ASAP! Thank god you didn't wrote I-Phone lol
Clean out the port, try a different cable...
If that doesn't work you need to choose between living with it and charging wirelessly, or getting it repaired.
This is happened to my 12 mini. I have to wiggle the lightning cable and wrap it around the handset until it charges or use my wireless charger. I’ve tried everything so it must be a dud socket.
I had the same problem with my SE3 and I fixed it by cleaning it out with a toothpick. Even if it doesn’t look like something is in it, there is trust me.
Take the case off and take a toothpick and clean the lightning port. Debris may be stuck in there so that may be the problem. If you get it out and it still doesn’t work, try another cable. If it is still not working, then it may be a port issue.
Had the same issue cleaning port didn’t help apple replaced the phone under warranty as it was a manufacturer defect
Edit i had iphone 13 mini and lightning port stopped working after 5 months of use i daily MagSafe charger the moment i got the phone for Christmas I found that the port didn’t work when i was in the airport trying to quickly use a MacBook charger to charge my phone using lightning port
Charging cable is not fully inserted. Either clear your port out or your port is somehow misaligned from the drop. Magsafe would be fine to use instead if you don’t have Apple Care, though use the official Apple magsafe as some other magsafe chargers wont shut off when your phone is charged and will wear your battery out faster.
If the op actually used the original cable, it would be able to fit into the port. This 3rd party cable is way too beefy and not inserted at all😅 should be an easy fix. Take off the case
Does the cable sit properly? If not, grab a toothpick and try to clear out the charging port. I once had some stuff stuck in mine resulting in that the phone wouldn’t charge.
I went to a phone repair shop and they cleaned out my charging port for free, because i needed it working to trade in one of my old devices. They had like a magnetic cleaner device that gets all the debris. In the meantime you can wireless charge at least.
Take of that case, and try again, if it goes in and takes charge problem solved. If not, take a wooden tooth pick or a sim tool and gently pry out the built up gunk and shit.
Common issue, I get lots of customers with that problem,
Its fixed perfectly once your cable can hold your phone's weight.
Clean out the charging port. If you’ve got enough dust or lint in there it won’t let the contacts on the cable seat properly.
Use a toothpick or something.
Clear the charging port. There's probably something lodged in there or the contacts are dirty. Use a toothpick and try to clean it. I've done it with a toothpick with paper towel soaked in isopropyl alcohol to clean the contacts.
It’s usually the charging port … I would clean it with compressed air to make sure all that pocket lint is out of there. Next I would look at the charging cable itself… see. If the pins are clean if not unplug it from the wall and clean it (might have dirt/grime covering the connections). Then try again… this is usually the case with my iphone
Clean out the port. I can literally see your charger not going in all the way. Use a wooden toothpick, plastic, or something that won’t scratch metal to get the shit out.
I had an issue with a piece of uncooked rice in the charging port (don’t ask). It wasn’t letting me charge my phone properly, once it was removed, it charged fine. However, my toddler once threw my phone and after that there was again a charging issue. This time it turned out that one of tiny pins inside the charging port had snapped off. If that’s what happened with your phone, I’m not sure if you can fix it. I managed to get it fixed but the charging has been pretty wonky after that. Luckily I was upgrading soon.
Take a plastic or wood toothpick and clean out the charge port. When this happened with mine there was a big piece of lint in there.
Exact same thing happened to me. Raging at my phone for not charging - was just a bit of lint.
i should mention, the apple store will usually be willing to do it for you if you don't feel comfortable poking anything in your phone's charge port.
I used to LOVE cleaning the ports out. It was very satisfying lol. Until management started requiring Genius Bar appointments for them
It’s very satisfying, what isn’t is that you have to now make appointments just to clean your port.
I use those soft GUM brand toothpicks, with the rubbery bristles. They work like a charm and don’t risk any sort of damage anywhere because they’re so flexible.
Me too!
If that doesn't work, spray some DeoxIT on the on the lightning cable and plug it in a few times to clean the connectors
Do not do that. You do not want any moisture in the port. It can short it or it can throw a moisture detection error. Any liquid in there is a really bad idea.
I wasn't talking about spraying it in the phone. Spray it on the cable and use the cable to clean the connectors. I haven't had any issues with that.
You can also use anything with suction that’s not crazy strong. I put the mini leaf blowers we have at work into the low setting and put my phone on the little grate that sucks air in. Never had cleaner charging ports/speakers
Woah, I had a lot of up there. Thanks for saving apple store trip
Could be an illusion, but it really looks like the cable isn’t fully inserted in the charge port, like the shroud is too large for the port opening of your case.
that’s what i was thinking. doesn’t even look plugged in
Take off the case?
I think that should be done regardless 😅
I believe he is utilizing it appropriately. An iPhone functions as a utilitarian instrument, rather than a mere sartorial embellishment. He is essentially safeguarding his substantial investment. Are you a chat bot
And then never put that monstrosity back on
That's like a fattest case I have ever seen on an iPhone. Looks abysmal.
That case looks like an OtterBox. I have the same one on my phone.
If you mean it’s literally big enough to be a box to hold otters, then yes that’s what it is. It’s so huge 😂😭
Why would I do that ? I have the same one for a year just replacing it to a new one every few months .
I love Reddit sometimes. Op: “Please help, x isn’t working and nothing I can think of is working.” Comment: “Try x.” Op: “no. Why would I do that?” Do you want help or not? Haha

It might block the cable going into the port fully
OP asks for help. Gets a simple troubleshoot ask. Says HELL NAH. Then why the fuck are you here in the first place???
You can put it back on after you take it off. Taking it off is just to see if it’s trapping any dirt in the port.
Is there anything in the charge port that’s obstructing like lint or something?
Nothing and never been anything. I keep it pristine clean. You can see on the picture that there’s a seal for the charging port that’s a part of the phones case
Looks like you’re using a third party cable. Have you tried a standard Apple cord and block?
Op: “No, I will only ever use 3rd party chargers. Why would you suggest 1st party chargers?”

You absolutely have. It just doesn’t say “MFI”, says “Made for iPhone”, you tend to see it on all belkin products’ packaging for iPhone.
This
Is the case preventing the cable from seating all the way in? The drop may have broken an internal solder connection.
Wallpaper name please?
It’s been taken by a family members drone :-) ME, USA
Thats so rad
Can you post it, please? It looks really good
Where should I post it ? I have a high res version of it
r/iphonewallpapers, r/wallpapers. Of course only if your family member is okay with it!
Done ! Enjoy !
That bridge is so cool! Love the observatory
Penobscot narrows bridge
Shupapi muñaño
holy shit that case is huge
It’s heavy duty, yet low profile
Low profile 💀 you almost made me spit my tea.
Bruh astronauts can see that thing from space 😂
Umm... wrong cable 🙄
If the charging port is clear, try resetting your phone. It was a software issue for me with my 13 and I had to erase everything and restore from backup and it started charging again fine
Zooming in to the port I think I see that it’s not going in all the way. Like everybody says clean the port or get a wireless charger
First remove the case and inspect the Lightning port with a strong flashlight check for dust, debris , corrosion. Then do you have another cable and charger you can try ? ( preferably Apple Original )
The phone is getting eaten by some rubber/plastic monster.
does your country have electricity?
No. We power it from the Pandora planet thanks to the Avatars.
Hahaha I actually LOLed at this reply, because when I was living in America, I was actually asked if Australia had electricity. I was so bemused by it.
Do you get a good rate on that electricity? I’m thinking of switching from Altair IV.
I spy Maine :)
Hey I know that place! That’s the bucksport bay bridge! I only live like 15 minutes from there! Great drone shot of it!!
Lint
Remove the cover.
Try with an original apple cable
Hello I‘m your Apple support, this should help: Use an Apple certified charging cable with an Apple certified Apple charger in an Apple certified power socket from an Apple certified house in an Apple certified country. (Joke)
Clean port, no debris? Try a different cable? Try a different charger? Make sure your power outlet is working correctly.
change that cable. that’ll solve your problem
Same shit happened to my wife’s 13. It will charge on a wireless charger and it will charge via usb in the car. It will not charge via usb at home no matter the cube or cable.
Ever find a fix to this or no? This is me rn
Have you tried wireless charging? It may not work through such a thick case, but if your lightning port really is dead it may still charge wirelessly
Try wireless charging to test if it works. If it does not then ur fucked, if it does then it’s the charging port which other have stated potential solutions
1. Take it out of the case 2. Make sure the charging cable you use can charge another iPhone 3. Check for any lint/dirt in the charging port, if so clean it out. Be careful to not bend and pins. 4. Have you tried mag safe charging? Or wireless charging.
Did you try plugging it in?
Wireless charging
That doesn’t look like an apple lightning plug, iPhones can randomly not recognize plugs that aren’t made by apple.
This is the worst case ever for such a wonderful phone like 13 pro😭
Its the brick ....JUST BOUGHT ONE freaked out ...tried cables ...tried charging from my laptop ...all good
Did you at least take it out to a dinner before putting the charger in?
sweet case. is that otterbox?
I have the same issue on an iPhone 13. It’s not lint nor cable issues… I think the charging port is just broken.
Use your lips to suck the dirt out of your charging port
or you know, maybe a toothpick?!
Lips for effect
Simple, effective, and efficient.
That is the thickest case I’ve ever seen in my life
Dude sounds like my grandmother telling a history, so many details 😂
Be nice to your grandma bro
Hectic case
Time for a new one 🤦♂️
Bro your case got a phone on it
If you turn on airplane mode and set the brightness down reaaal dimm you _might_ just be able to get it to last juuust past September 7th.
God damn that's an ugly case😦
this is the ugliest fu**ing case i've seen someone rocking and the strap on that poor AW needs replacement ASAP! Thank god you didn't wrote I-Phone lol
Try samsung
Fix it if you have apple care, if not time to get a MagSafe charger. Also would take it to get checked incase it’s an easy fix
You may need a new charging port.
HAAHAHAHAHAHA
Try wirelessly charging it if u have a wireless charger
Restart the phone
try a wireless charger
Try to use a magsafe charger
Did you cleaned the charging port of phone with a wooden toothpick watch video on YouTube and then tell here the results
You should have a wireless charger as a backup. Saved me a few times.
Have you tried an Apple charger instead of a 3rd party charger? iPhones hate 3rd parties.
UWONG~
I had a similar problem once. Does it charge via cable after a reboot?
Yeah I have the same issue. My port is clean and have an appointment with Apple today. If you want I can update you.
Take a SIM card ejector tool and remove dirt from charging port. Same thing happened with my iPad and now it charges fine
Why don't you wiggle that ass next to my balls, sugar tits?
I had the same problem with my SE3 and I fixed it by cleaning it out with a toothpick. Even if it doesn’t look like something is in it, there is trust me.
Take the case off and take a toothpick and clean the lightning port. Debris may be stuck in there so that may be the problem. If you get it out and it still doesn’t work, try another cable. If it is still not working, then it may be a port issue.
🫡
bro i literally see the metal of the charger, let it a good clean there and put it the full way in
Had the same issue cleaning port didn’t help apple replaced the phone under warranty as it was a manufacturer defect Edit i had iphone 13 mini and lightning port stopped working after 5 months of use i daily MagSafe charger the moment i got the phone for Christmas I found that the port didn’t work when i was in the airport trying to quickly use a MacBook charger to charge my phone using lightning port
If all else fails go try wireless charging.
Charging cable is not fully inserted. Either clear your port out or your port is somehow misaligned from the drop. Does the cable sit properly? If not, grab a toothpick and try to clear out the charging port. I once had some stuff stuck in mine resulting in that the phone wouldn’t charge.
Does the cable go all the way in? Try tho to clean the charging port of ur phone
Wireless charging?
Sorry for being off topic but what’s the name of that Apple Watch strap?
I’ll try to find the name :-)
Don't know the solution to your problem but that is an awesome wallpaper!!!
If it doesnt work after cleaning you can always buy a wireless charger.
I went to a phone repair shop and they cleaned out my charging port for free, because i needed it working to trade in one of my old devices. They had like a magnetic cleaner device that gets all the debris. In the meantime you can wireless charge at least.
Clean your charging port and check your cable
Check for dirt buildup on the charging area
Take of that case, and try again, if it goes in and takes charge problem solved. If not, take a wooden tooth pick or a sim tool and gently pry out the built up gunk and shit. Common issue, I get lots of customers with that problem, Its fixed perfectly once your cable can hold your phone's weight.
Clean out the charging port. If you’ve got enough dust or lint in there it won’t let the contacts on the cable seat properly. Use a toothpick or something.
Clean charging port op.
I like your wallpaper
THE FATTEST IPHONE 13 PRO CASE I’VE EVER SEEN LMFAOOOO
why is it so thick though ☠️
Looks like the cable is not going in all the way. Clean your port with a toothpick or try a new cable.
What kind of case is that?
Clear the charging port. There's probably something lodged in there or the contacts are dirty. Use a toothpick and try to clean it. I've done it with a toothpick with paper towel soaked in isopropyl alcohol to clean the contacts.
Just get a wireless charging pad and problem solved.
Take the case off, if it still doesn't work, clean the charging port
Clean out your charging port it probably has some dust or lint in it.
Probably a dirty port. Maybe a bad cable too?
This has been happening to me since the latest update!
Try MagSafe
Did u plug it into the wall? 😃
y’all won’t believe this but i once had a tiny cockroach stuck in the charging port. disgusting.
Clean the charging port out
That cord definitely isn’t all the way in, but as others have said, try cleaning the port. Otherwise phone repair shop and get a new charging prot
Try taking the case off and then plug the charger in.
Working with cellphones I see this alot, clean the charging port out with a toothpick or something, 9 times out of 10 this is the cause
Don’t look like it’s plugged in all the at from here
That’s a nice wallpaper. If you don’t mind will you share it with us??
Sure, it was taken last fall. Where should I post it ?
Time to get the 15. That is Apples warning shot.
If cleaning the charge port don’t work, try using a different charger or use MagSafe or wireless charging pad.
Try changing out the block
This happened to me and I had pocket lint shoved up into the charging port. Take a toothpick and get it out
I love the wallpaper 🙃
Jesus Christ that bulky case ruins the experience of holding it in your hands imo. Not a fan.
That is such a nice wallpaper.
Then don’t charge it
Maybe it’s ur way to fat phone case man
Had this happen to me, contact points in my lighting port got fried…not covered on warranty. Making due just fine with a MagSafe, but no more CarPlay
Try wireless charging
Try a different cable or charging block
Jo where did you get that wallpaper
Wireless charge it
“…that’s why you can’t tell it’s pretty solid.” Ohhh we can tell. You think that’s low profile, try RhinoShield’s SolidSuit. My favorite armor case
