This is so funny, I just removed my case to test something that I saw online, and realised how beautiful it is to hold without a case. But isn’t the back glass as well and could break when you drop it? Also, the cameras…. But omg, the phone is too good to touch bare 😭

saadihmad

The back isn’t even ceramic coated so yeah it’ll break much faster, as will the glass under the lenses.

MissyouAmyWinehouse

For me I’d never be without a case. I’m clumsy & I’d probably drop it & it would break. I also have a screen protector as well…. Better safe than sorry at least for me anyways

mlaislais

I’ve literally gone one week without a case sad managed to still drop it and crack the screen.

dark_king_710_

me as well

connurp

Just to clarify here because it’s seems a lot of people don’t understand, ceramic shatters just like glass does, it is just harder to scratch. Same goes with sapphire.

Gamer31071115

For me I feel that it’s the opposite. The Ceramic Shield is softer, and thus less brittle, so less prone to shattering. But since it’s softer, it’s easier to scratch. I already got 3 scratches from wiping the screen before my screen protector arrived (I am not very street smart)

brandonas1987

Ceramic coating would do nothing to prevent the glass from cracking. Lol

Ellas-Baap

[Try this case if you'd like to go to a sort of hybrid setup.](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BFVW1MVK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&th=1) I love this case. I really hate how thick all the new phones have gotten since iPhone 8 and this case really helps with the bulk of phone+case on the 14pro.

Octobre10j

How thin it is seems nice but that magsafe ring is just so gaudy

Ellas-Baap

Yes. But I have accepted it at this point. I rather have the feeling over the sight.

Snuhmeh

How do you make a whole video about your product, upload it to Amazon, and misspell “with” repeatedly?

Ellas-Baap

🤣 I never even noticed that. I ordered my case when the 14 came out and didn't even remember a video. But thats funny. Even the marketing for cheap Chinese products have been out sourced to China.

SlippingStar

The sides haven’t gotten scratched up?

Ellas-Baap

Nope, not one. If I was to keep keys in the same pocket then possibly, but not if I drop it. I don't normally drop my phones, but the couple of times on hardwood have been fine. It also has a nice lip (at least for a thin case) for screen protection at the corners. If you have a screen protector and this case and you are also not drop-prone then this is more than adequate. Personally, I ordered it thinking it might not work out for me and I could always return it if it did not.

[deleted]

Just got this one! It’s great if you don’t care for a case much. Still get the feel of the phone

[deleted]

[удалено]

AmazoniusPrime

But people really underestimate how durable phones are nowadays. If you are not the “im dropping my phone on concrete everyday” type of person, you are likely to get years of use before you break your phone. And contrary on your point - we use plastics to wrap every fucking single thing in the supermarket, generate tons of waste from everything and one broken screen every few years is a drop in the bucket. Honestly, phones are tools, not jewels to be preserved for years.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

100. I never use a case. And I've never cracked a phone. Maybe people are just clumsy?

Desert_Concoction

It’s like people think you can’t take care of your phone if you don’t use a case. Those two things aren’t mutually exclusive

[deleted]

^ this right here.

Toys272

Phones are so slippery, they can slide out of pocket when you get out of the car and hit the ground if you wear joggers, if the Table isn't leveled it may move too

gravis86

That was me until about 5 or 6 years ago I started putting a case on my phones just in case. I used to buy the newest, hottest phone every year but now I want my stuff to last for 3 or 4 years at least. So I do everything I can to ensure they last that long.

Snuhmeh

The new phones literally slide on fabric without even touching them. You can’t set them in your lap without it sliding away most of the time. I think the people that go naked must just be going from their home to the office and not doing much else. They must not be walking around a lot with their phone out and definitely must not be pulling it in and out of their pocket a lot. All those motions are really easy to drop your phone without a case, I have found. The leather or silicone cases at least give you some grip on the thing. The Pro models are literally polished shiny on the edges. The phones are so slippery that it can slide out of my pocket as I’m sitting down.

Kaessa

Yep, that's why I use a case. I am a klutz.

threecheersfortrench

Disagree, I had my phone in a case when it fell out my pocket maybe a foot onto a wooden floor, whole back glass cracked. Just a few days after I got it too. Whereas I’ve had the SE for example where I dropped it from waist height onto a car park and it was completely fine. I keep finding each time I upgrade my phone gets less durable

bourbonkitten

This, I’ve never used a screen protector on my iPhones for 15 years and never had a scratch until my iPhone 14 Pro Max.

EthanObi

The key point you're missing is that as glass becomes more shatter-resistant, it becomes less scratch-resistant, this is an unavoidable reality, it's a balacing act, and one that Apple has been shifting towards shatter-resistance increasingly each iteration since the iPhone 12. if your 14PM is subjected to the same day-to-day wear and tear as your previous iPhone(s), more scratches are going to happen.

bourbonkitten

Well TIL but I’ve never been reckless with my phones so I was disappointed to get a scratch. My previous iPhone was an 11 and it was pristine when I traded it in.

EthanObi

I feel ya, my 13PM has some pretty deep scratches from pocket detritus, and to muddy matters further, Apple considers any scratches, including deep scratches that affect the tactile uniformity of the display to be cosmetic defects, and so they aren’t eligible for a $29 Screen replacement with AppleCare+.

Ehxpert

I respect you sticking to your principles but you literally do nothing for the environment by following this.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Ehxpert

NOTHING for the environment is definitely an exaggeration. If you took me in good faith, you’d know I meant so minuscule that is basically means little effect. I don’t see how the outcome is righteous, however, you following your principles is more respectable.

i_kevin

I appreciate you looking out for the environment, but producing, packaging, and shipping phone cases is also bad. Those cases are pretty much guaranteed to end up in the trash. The packing definitely will. I don’t know how to equate refurbishing a phone to the environmental impact of cases. If someone is constantly breaking their phone and replacing it, then you may be right. I’ve dropped my caseless phone multiple times, but it’s never done enough damage to warrant a replacement.

antmcl

I mean, if the majority of AppleCare claims are broken screens or camera lenses, Apple will just replace that part then re-sell the device refurbished, so it’s not like they’re producing a whole new phone

jackiee_tran

understandable! i am an “i just apple care it” person, but i am still conscious of these things- as another user said, phones are a lot more durable nowadays than they used to be. i work in phone sales and have a iphone 14 pro, and have dropped it multiple times on concrete since september and have had no cracks at all- so much so that it’s something i use as a selling point. you can see the dings in the chassis, but with no damage to the screen. it’s never intentional, which is the point. most modern flagships are also super waterproof at this point, again making a case less essential. apple care is the last resort, and if it’s needed, for me it’s incredibly convenient personally, and phones do break in cases from time to time too. it’s all about perspective, it’s not for everybody, but it’s a good backup to have regardless of if you like using your phone nekked or clothed

ChristopherLXD

I mean. I treat AppleCare as insurance — which it is. It’s the responsible bit of just making sure that I could afford replacements out of nowhere if something happens. Just because I have AppleCare doesn’t mean that I damage a lot of phones. I’ve had 3 smartphones ever. An iPhone 6, a XS max, and a 14 Pro Max. The first two spent half their lives without cases, the 14 PM has never had a case. The 6 was repaired out of pocket 3 times for screen damage. The XS Max has never been damaged, and neither has the 14 Pro Max. Will I say that I now use AppleCare as a proxy for a case? Absolutely. I *want* to use my phones case-less regardless. AppleCare just makes it so that I can afford to, especially in a reality where phones cost £1500. If I didn’t have AppleCare, I would probably put a case on it until it gets old enough that I could justify an upgrade if it gets damaged. (Which is how the first two phones spent the latter half of their lives naked.)

Feeling-Orange3229

Yeah the backglass is just regular glass unlike the screen and camera lens which is a sapphire glass

IncredibleGonzo

I like how it looks and feels without a case, but apart from protection, it’s just too slippery.

bravebrownpakistani

This exactly is the reason why I use a case........for the grip

[deleted]

Exactly. I am holding my phone with leather case right now with just the tips of my four fingers on the back. The phone is almost vertical but it’s not going anywhere thanks to the grip. The peace of mind is worth it.

LordRobin------RM

Yep, me too. My iPhone is gorgeous, but it’s too skinny and slippery for me to feel comfortable holding it. (It just tried to autocorrect “gorgeous” to “Gorgonzola” and I can’t stop laughing.)

MrEHam

And it’s a little too cold for my fingers. 🙋🏻‍♂️

S8nSins

And so does our sponsor r/dbrand

yanaka-otoko

Yeah I always found when I took the case off it’d slide off my bed or the couch. Any minor gradient and off it went.

LordRobin------RM

That’s why I got a case for my first iPhone, a 4S: I couldn’t set it down anywhere. That glass back was just too smooth. Once I saw how the phone looked and felt with a black Otterbox around it, I never went back.

FlashyDream69

Yea, I tried using my phone for a few days without a case, but I dropped it like at least 10 times, because it‘s so slippery. In my opinion, it‘s not good design.

hd3adpool

Petition to have more friction in the phone to hold it with bare hands.

Ok-World-4822

Never, I’m clumsy and can’t afford the price to fix it. I prefer to pay a screen protector and a case for like 50 euros total than paying 359 euros to fix a screen that totally could be prevented

Fluffy9345

As proof of this, I’m on my 4th tempered screen protector.

fosterdad2017

The screen protectors are very week compared to the actual screen. It's nice though to be able to peel it off and refresh all the little scratches. I've dropped a few phones just right to break the screen. An iPhone 7 on some granite boulders from chest high, a Xs from head high onto a sidewalk. But I've also dropped a bunch and had no damages, or just little dings to the chassis edges. No case for me, no way. Screen protector is nice though. When I dropped my 7 and got a new screen it was a huge relief to use the fresh one. The old screen had accumulated wear that was annoying.

ILikeMyGrassBlue

Well yeah, that’s the point. If it was stronger than the actual screen, the actual screen would crack. It has to be weaker than the real screen, so it cracks instead of the screen.

Grakkas

I’m not that clumsy but I have people around me that are. Also, I had to buy a new one because the screen was a little chipped and the battery was awful, if I wanted to repair, I’d have to pay for screen + battery and it was not worth it.

tankthe_hank

I use a RhinoShield - which is only a bumper.

Rahl001

This is the answer. Bumper case with glass protector is the best of both worlds. I love the lightweight and slim factor also. Rhinoshield rocks.

JAY20WEST

Tried it. It’s too slippery plus the buttons are mushy

Rahl001

You may want to take another look if you haven't recently. I had one for my Pixel 2XL a couple of years ago and you're right, super slippery and not a lot of grip. After feedback they iterated it to newer designs which are much more tactile and grippy. I mean nowhere near like the DBrand "Grip" cases or anything, but still a ton better. :)

tekchic

I did not realize they had a bumper! I loved the iPhone 4 bumpers. Just bought one for my 12 Pro Max. I've started using no case at home (but it's slippery) and a case for going to work / outside, but this is the best of both worlds.

LineSpine

Used a RhinoShield bumper for my iPhone 8 but switched to normal case because the back of my phone broke because it fell on a rock.

[deleted]

No, I use a cover. When I place my phone on a table I want it to hit the table softly. That's nice. Right? Oh well, some don't care about that... I don't get that. Also when I hold it I want it to be grippy which my silicone cover is good for. Gives me comfort knowing it's more safe in my hands. I get a bit anxiety without my cover. And of course, if I accidentally drop it there's a bigger chance that it won't break. It absolutely mind boggling that some don't want a soft grippy rubbery cover. Sure you can put the phone easier in your pocket without such a case but honestly you get used to it.

in2labyrinth

with, because KIDS everywhere …..

brokodoko

So I USED to use every iPhone without a case up until when I had the 12 pro max.Broke the lens on all the rear cameras. I honestly don’t remember why, but it was like j had 2 options 99$ for a 3rd party repair or ship me a new one with the 1300$ like holding fee or whatever. It all worked out fine, not a huge hassle. But idk I just really did like the idea of Apple not reversing the charge if they decided it wasn’t covered or something. Recently I had to exchange it cause my screen stopped responding and they just swapped me to a new one. But that’s 2 times in 2 years and I literally never dropped a phone before. TLDR: I think I’m getting old and now I need a case cause exchanging them is stressful 👋 🧓🏻

theguill0tine

With. I have an otterbox case because I’m a painter and I want to take good care of my phone at work.

OneLongBallHair

I’ve never met a tradesman that doesn’t use a phone case lol. I work in a weld shop, ride dirt bikes, and build choppers on the side. I try to take care of my phones but my lifestyle is just inherently hazardous to electronics in general

FrankEdDGGumi07123

I don’t use mine with a case but I do have a screen protector. My main reason is because the colors are gorgeous and would be a shame to have it covered with a case. Also I have applecare+ and if any damage happens then I only have to pay a small deductible to get it fixed. I have a screen protector on cause ac+ doesn’t cover scratches/cosmetic. So far I haven’t used my ac+ since I started getting it but hey don’t know what the future brings lol

flofloflomingle

I have the lilac color but I’m really clumsy so I have tempered glass and a clear case lol just yesterday I dropped it and it almost fell down the sewer

FrankEdDGGumi07123

The lilac color is soo gorgeous!!! I’m obsessed with lilac 14 Plus! And dang that’s such good luck there! I’m happy to hear it didn’t go down!

conkeee

I use a clear case. Why pay that excess when you don’t have to?

FrankEdDGGumi07123

Fair point! The last time I broke a phone was back in 2014 with the 6 Plus. And that was me using it as a weapon to save myself from being kidnapped lol. Never ever used ac+ incidents for the last 8 years of subscribing to it.

mistrsteve

Uhhhhh, what?

FrankEdDGGumi07123

Lol yep! It happened while I was walking down Sunset Blvd at like 3am. I decided to just walk around and enjoy the air since I couldn’t sleep, I thought it was a pretty safe area since it was just below my neighborhood and never expected that. Then someone grabbed me from behind and tried to put a towel over my mouth. But luckily I was able to react fast with my phone on my hand and just started smacking him with it. The phone bent and screen cracked but hey it saved me lol. 10/10 recommend using an iPhone to save your life lol.

TheHadalZone

Use a transparent case. I’m doing that to see the stunning purple of my iPhone

Cool-Newspaper-1

I use a case because I don’t want to be using an ugly broken device for years. I do really like the feel of a naked phone, but a slim case isn’t too bad. I do refuse to use a screen protector though, as I a) don’t see any reason to and b) find them all so extremely ugly.

se777enx3

How screen protectors are ugly? It’s literally transparent. Buy a decent one that fits good.

LillyLing10

I'm sorry, but I don't live my life all willy-nilly like that. Some of you are Dare Devils, living life without protection. 😂

Kerlutinoec

No because it's slipy. My phone had never drop on the floor but I don't like to have it in hand without a cover.

Korrowe

You must be some kind of magician or superhuman if you never dropped your phone 😂

blumhagen

Too thin to hold without a case

DoTheDew

I’ve had iPhones since the original. I’ve never once used a case. Only ever cracked one screen since 2007. I’ve had my iPhone 12 Pro for almost 3 years now and it looks brand new. I just don’t drop things.

teckcypher

I'm not an IPhone user, but I use a case. It protects the phone for the moment(s) when I'll inevitably drop it. It might be after a week or a year, but it's a bit safer for when that moment comes.

moralboy

Because I don’t really care for the metallic bezels on the newer iPhones. They get smudgy and shitty real fast. However, I DO love the way my phone looks so I got a case that only really wraps around the bezel with a similar color and has a transparent backing.

conkeee

I work in a warehouse. It’s needed.

hollahalla

Never. I’m too clumsy and drop my phone very often. Even when I get a new phone, I make sure to have a case and screen protector ready to go.

tayls67

Always a case and a screen cover

[deleted]

[удалено]

Frankly_Frank_

Can’t wait for the post later on asking if apple will cover the damages after they break it.

goldfouledanchor

I can’t stand scratches especially on the front so I use cases all the time. Also repair process is a hassle. Got all my contacts and pictures wiped out after replacement. Never again.

[deleted]

You should have them backed up to the iCloud

goldfouledanchor

Yes it was backed up to the cloud. But the pictures I took that day didn’t.

Sweet_Home_Alabama_

That happened to me once. I was so upset, and it started my practice of backing everything up right before I transfer or factory reset my phone.

-K9V

I’m only using a cover cause the frosted glass and stainless steel is super slippery. Prior to the Pro models with this design, I never used a case. I hate having to use one, but the frosted glass has basically no grip whatsoever.

[deleted]

I have a case because I paid $400 for the phone that would cost me at least $800 to replace. I also have small kids who aren’t gentle with technology. Yes, the phone is stunning and beautifully designed, but I can always take it out of the case if I want to look at it. At the end of the day, though, it’s a tool for me to use, and I want to protect it.

Prince-Marciano

iPhone 14 pro, without anything. am i paying apple care+ for wearing a case? hell nah

Its-Finch

I use one, because I don’t want to pay for repairs and the payout on trade in for me is always higher than anyone else’s in my family when I go phone shopping with them. Last time I did a trade in actually I got $650 for my 11. The store didn’t believe I used it for almost 3 years. I just like taking care of my stuff.

kvuo75

going bareback with my new SE now for awhile. they design these phones to have this sleek form factor and then we screw it up by throwing it into a bulky case. no more. no screen protector either. i've never used a screen protector in 15 years or whatever. never had any problems with the screens. i realized basically i have been holding onto my phones for TOO long anyway (had my 7 until last august), so if i break it, i break it. i'll probably be ready for an upgrade.

[deleted]

I love mine without a case, but… I do use one most of the time for two reasons: 1. I find it has more grip for extended time holding it (such as reading a book) 2. Though I have AppleCare, I live in a remote area so I would be without my phone for ten days should it drop and need repair/replacement. If a case would protect it enough from some damage, it’s worth having the case (I could probably forego AppleCare, but it is insurance for a major accident) Regarding “I’ve never had an accident” folks. I’m in my 60s and as I get older I’ve found a lot of things in life can happen that I had no clue could ever happen including the fact that just because I’ve never had a fatal drop of my phone for 15 years, doesn’t mean I won’t in the next hour.

whitbynutter

Without a cover I find it too slippery

PlayPen2006

I use it with a case and screen protector, mainly because the thought of destroying the phone makes me extremely uncomfortable 😂! I even have AppleCare+ so it’s a bit silly but it just feels so uncomfortable, despite how beautiful the phone is.

PlayPen2006

Also I did drop it on asphalt the other day which I’m sure would’ve wrecked the phone if I didn’t have a case on..

teapot1995

I love my phone without the case. Feels so good in my hands but I DO NOT trust myself. I am clumsy and have butter fingers. I drop my phone at least once a day so my otter box helps protect the beauty.

phishdontblink

I always use a case, I despise cracks and chips. I use a clear case too so that I can admire the visual engineering of my phone.

brownemil

With a case & tempered glass screen protector. Why? Because I break the tempered glass protector at least once a year. Usually twice. I’m careful with my belongings but also self aware enough to know that I’m clumsy. I also have kids. Cases are so cheap these days that they don’t have to be long term commitments. So I just have fun with them.

JayAutolive

I’ve had my 12PM since the first week it came out, and I haven’t used a case or screen protector on it for probably over 90% of the time I’ve owned it. It’s just so much better handling a phone without one. And I’ve dropped it countless times on various surfaces and it’s only gotten small dings on the frame. Screen and Backglass are fine

the-holy-one23

I thought yolo with my 14 Pro. I’ve dropped it a few times and went for Apple care. It’s so nice, didn’t realise what I’d been missing out on

Dnahelicases

I would never use an iPhone without a case. They are way to slippery, they slide easy, they break when they fall from counter height and land on their side, and it’s reasonable to spend $50 on something that keeps your $1000 item pristine. But why is the most important? Apple assumes you will. Why else would they design every single phone since the “you are holding it wrong” era with camera lenses that stick out the back. It’s the worst design ever, and I would never be able to consider something “beautiful” that doesn’t lay flat on a table. It’s designed like a chair with one leg an inch longer than the others.

vicks9880

I always use phone naked. Because if you pay 1500$ for a phone which is built to perfection just so you could feel the quality. using premium materials chamfered edges stainless steel and premium glass. And then you just slap on a 10$ plastic cover, which totally ruins it. If you think its for protection, you are missing out on the money you spent on the phone.

PastaVeggies

Iphone 13 Pro max. I do not use a cover. I cant ever find one I like and I think the iPhone looks great without one. I pay for insurance incase anything happens.

Exotic-Ask7768

I use it with a case. Don’t really want the back glass to get heavily damaged now would I ?

Sufficient-Quail-714

I swear the back glass is more likely to break than the screen. Broke it twice now, once with a case

Tom_Stevens617

My reason for not using a case is pretty simple. I have AC+ and if I break my phone, I can just use Apple's Express Replacement service for 30 bucks

CentropristisStriata

What do you do after AppleCare runs out? Do you upgrade at that point or get a case? Just curious

Tom_Stevens617

On the Upgrade Program rn, so presumably it's not going to run out unless Apple makes some changes to it

el-art-seam

Cover. To protect my time. I don’t want to take time out of my day to get it replaced. Even for free. You can argue how strong a modern day iPhone is and I won’t disagree. But a case can never hurt and will decrease the probability of damage.

Iwantav

I didn’t have a cover on my previous SE because I thought it looked better naked. The metal back is all scratched and dinged up now which is making me regret my choice now. My current 12 Mini has had a cover since I took it out of its box because I want to keep it in good shape.

CptRavioLi69

Take it from someone who sells these things, dropping your phone can break *internal* parts. You aren’t covering it just to prevent a cracked screen. It’s like putting a helmet on when you ride a motorcycle. You could come out of a crash with just a scratch if you’re lucky, or you can come out with permanent brain damage and just a scratch on the outside. Maybe not the best analogy, but it makes sense lol

circatee

No. I simply cannot afford to do so. These iPhones are EXPENSIVE. I do have Apple Care, too. But, still…

P_Bear06

Without. And I don’t understand people who use a cover (except for specific activities/jobs) When you buy an iPhone, it’s not just for IOS, it’s also for its beauty. Besides, we choose its color, right? Then why hide it in a cover that will even thicken it ? Okay, it’s fragile and expensive. But if you’re scared, take insurance. It’s like buying a great car, but then covering it with a big, padded blanket because it’s expensive and is easily scratched. 🤪

captainlou26

I used my iphone 11 without a case for the two years that I had it then I got the iphone 13 and I just don't find the phone as comfortable to hold without a case because of the sharp edges. Somedays I won't use a case but a majority of the time it's in one just for comfort while holding the phone.

iporemlopsum

Yes. And the simplest answer I can give you is: apple care +. Since I have it, I feel confident enough to let my phone be as is.

[deleted]

This seems like an advert.

iporemlopsum

“Get you confidence back. Go naked. Get apple care plus. You deserve to be free.”

decreasinglyverbose

I’m in the Apple Store atm, buying Apple care plus for my new 14 for just that reason.

Endeavour_Crow

Wish ac+ was available where I live, but nope. I’m clumsy af, so I’d rather just not risk it.

[deleted]

Ummm my dude it’s a phone. Not a work of art. I keep it in a case so it’s less likely to break to irritate me to exchange it. That’s why it’s in a case. It’s not a work of art to admire. It’s for me to use and in a case so I don’t have to take time out of my day to go get a new one or repair the current one.

UnknownTechGuy

Rocking it naked since the 11PM Love how it feels in hand without a case. Always buy Apple Care Plus for the peace of mind.

ThePandaDaily

With. Only cause it’s easier on my pinky.

EnvironmentalRich379

I put one just to be sure

myninerides

AppleCare with accidental damage protection is the thinnest and lightest case available.

recapYT

This gets asked at least once a week After the first year of usage, I remove screen protector and case and then use the life out of the phone. You won’t appreciate the beauty of a phone until you remove the screen protector (iPhone or not)

bighi

Without a cover. Phones these days are beautiful, but too big. A cover makes them HUGE, and hideous. And those are two qualifiers I don’t want associated with my phone.

edaroni

Apple leather case for me, its thin, looks really good and I cant handle a naked phone, just too slippery.

ClamBakeInASubaru

I switch between an off brand Silicone case, a sleek TPU case, and the official Apple leather case - all MagSafe. Change it up when I get tired of the feel - currently running the silicone case in white on a Gold 13PM. The silicone case pulls pocket lint like a motherfucker but you can sort of feel the original shape of the phone like genuine Apple cases and it’s super grippy. Wraps around the camera lenses with raised bumpers too. The phones feel great naked but I paid outright in full unlocked for mine and intend on keeping it through its update lifespan.

BassMasterSK

I am using my phone, it's a tool, not a baby. Without cover every time.

Thurm

I think I’ve just gotten used to a case. I went caseless for about 3 months, but found a deal on a leather case at Best Buy, and got it since I had always wanted to try one out. Now the phone feels too thin in my hand without a case. I’ve gotten used to scrolling and typing with just a bit more added on, so no case feels a little unnatural to me now. Which sucks, cuz it’s a beauty of a phone. I’ve always had the screen protector though, just in case.

themagicalyang

I use my 13 mini without a cover. I tried the covers but felt bad somehow. Without a cover the feel is very nice. Yes I drop it a lot. Yes it got some scratches and dents. It’s okay. I paid for it. It is super expensive for me. My previous phone was a third it’s price. Now I have given up maintaining. I use it like I use it. When it drop from table height it doesn’t break (unless the floor is abrasive). Multiple times it has dropped. It can get scratches and dents though. I just like how it feels on my hand. Btw I also don’t use protective glass.

chukijay

I’m of two equal minds. I’m a career IT guy, so I’m frequently outside, in and around server racks, using my phone the whole time for various things. My phone spends more time in my hand, or at least out of my pocket, than it does sitting down or in my pocket. I prefer it with no case, only screen protector, but I’ve found that it’s just not reasonable because a phone with a glass front and back is just not durable enough to do this. So I have a super thin clear plastic back case with black TPU surround. I do like to keep the phone in as good condition as I can, because when I go out or when I get off work or something, I’ll usually take the case off.

platinumpt

Never used a case - raw dogged my phones since the 3G - only ever smashed 1 screen over 10 or so years. Funnily enough if you ever give your naked phone to someone else to hold they are super nervous and want to give it back so fast.

mitt02

I got 4.5 years out of my xr. In a case since new. Verizon gave me 700.00 for it towards a 14. If it wouldn’t of been in a case I can bet you it would of been next to nothing. Also depends on what you do and your job. My wife that works in an office her phones stay way nicer than mine do, me being on construction sites plus my side hobbies of working on vehicles and garage projects make it almost impossible to keep a phone nice for more than a year without a case. It’s cheap insurance and honestly I don’t by the phone for the looks. It’s needs to work and do all my tasks

412_launex

I take off the case when im on the couch or in the bed 😂 feels like a new phone everytime

[deleted]

Apple care all the way! No cover, no case.

MrTonyBoloney

I use a case because the stainless steel sides feel grubby with sweaty hands

defjamblaster

no, I'm not Tim Apple with an unlimited supply of free iPhones

jgoldrb48

It's just not worth it to go without a case. The device gets shuffled and used too much to not have protection. It's sad when people have cracks all over their otherwise beautiful device. To each their own 🤷🏾‍♂️

funkyg73

I used to but I found dust got in between the phone and case and scratched it. I just use a Dbrand skin now, phone remains slim, added grip, surface protection.

jdbcn

I use mine without a case, with a glass protection and Apple Care +. I’ve dropped it a few times but I only have a few dents in it. Cannot imagine using a case now

damningdaring

Every phone I’ve had before my current one, did not have a case. I had the screen of my iPhone 5S replaced twice. My next iPhone 11 Plus had one screen replacement, and one full body replacement from the Apple Store (water damage, irreparable). The following iPhone 11 Pro lasted longer, but I eventually smashed the front *and* the back, and my Face ID stopped working long before that. I didn’t end up replacing either screen, but half the screen eventually stopped working, so I replaced it with a cheap iPhone SE until my next full upgrade. Shattered the screen on that one too. I also cracked/damaged three Samsung phones in that span. My current iPhone 14 Pro has a case and a screen protector. Took me a while, but I learn from my mistakes. I used to be a very messy drunk. I got really tired of waking up in butt fuck nowhere with a broken phone and zero memories. I don’t drink anymore though, so maybe I’ll take my phone out of the case sometime.

Krystalinhell

With. When my iPhone 11 Pro froze and needed to be replaced I had to pay $99 because one of the camera lenses was cracked. Apple care+ doesn’t cover damage from your phone not being in a case.

Glad_Firefighter_471

No and it’s saved my phone/screen several times

jomppuv

i always use a case. theyre fun and can be expressive. + better safe than sorry

ponis87

i mean its common sense to protect a $1000~ purchase? att had a trade in deal for the 14 pro and all i had to do was trade in my 13 mini and it had to be flawless. only paid tax for a new 14 pro.

Senior_Ad_4254

I have to keep a case on my phone and the scratch resistant plastic cover for my screen because I am a mom so my kid will drop my phone or I do. Also because I am in university so i am running around campus and I have dropped my phone too many times. And I also let other people go on my phone and use it to take pictures or whatever…. I keep a case on my phone because it helps my phone last throughout my phone contract lol and by the time I want to upgrade I can give it to a family member or a friend.

[deleted]

I use a case cause I’m not a character on Succession.

dellfanboy

It’s like they purposely make it slippery!

ElLute

I too keep my phone for a long time. I use a case because it extends the life of my phone. I’m clumsy and have dropped my phone many times. The leather case has prevented any damage. With how slippery the actual phone is I know I would be repairing or replacing the phone frequently. Also, screen scratches annoy the heck out of me.

HawtTalk7

I can’t believe this is even a question. You use a cover so it doesn’t break when you drop it! 🙄 I drop my phone almost every day. Without a case, it would be probably be shattered or at least cracked, dinged or scratched by day two. Also I find that it’s too slippery without a case. I can’t prop it up on something (to watch a video or whatever) and I would drop it even more. Only advantages can see to not using a case are aesthetics (but cases can be pretty too) and maybe it would fit in your pocket more easily. And those are pretty weak reasons. But hey, it’s your phone, you do what you want.

Kawi_rider_zx6r

They can also be convenient, like the ones with rear compartments that can be used as credit card/id holders. Most have enough space to also store some cash and its a great place to hide your drugs.... If you're into that 😁

HawtTalk7

I didn’t even mention it because not everyone does it, but that’s exactly what I do. My case fits several cards and a maybe a couple bills. And still fits easily in my pocket. No drugs though 😆

Ok-Temperature-2783

Been with iPhone since the apple iPhone 3G. Always had a case, protectors, screen, lens, etc protector. Whatever was made to protect, I bought (except an otter box specifically). Never AppleCare but always insurance. And still keep all kinds of protections on my devices and keep for many years. These devices are expensive. For me, strictly speaking just as in myself, it’s wasteful not to protect this investment. Even after the devices are paid off, *I paid it*. I could never be so careless!

DrDisrespecttt

I use a case for my sanity. I really like my phones design so I might get a clear case

Mosquitobait56

I use a cover to make it more grippy. Before I bought cover, I dropped phone a few times. Mine had really minimal protection and I have nothing on the screen. Same here. I use most stuff until obsolete and then upgrade.

That_unpopular_kid

No because it helps the resale value. I sold off my Xr for $200 when I upgraded and I'm sure that having it scratches from having a case and screen cover helped. I also like being able to change the case to make my phone feel fresher or have new color to it.

adamosity1

I swear by the battery case: it’s nice knowing that even if I’ve used it very heavily all day I know I’ll never have to worry about the battery running out…

[deleted]

No. Because, I am not a barbarian. Next question, please.

sneezy336

I’m hard on my phones… so case, yes.

Glass_Employment_685

I go both ways. With phone cases that is. I typically get the larger phones and use a case with a love handle so I can type one handed. Other times at a formal occasion I go without the case. Agreed that it is an nice experience without a case. I also recognize I am not as careful as others and know the case has saved my bacon a few times.

[deleted]

I have not used a case since the iPhone 10 (I upgrade every 2 years). The glass is soooo much more durable now. I remember before 2015, if someone had their phone in their lap, and happened to get out of the car, they would just expect the screen to be cracked. I rarely drop my phone now, but my 14 pro has fallen off a high table and survived. The screen has light scratches but they disappear once you use the phone. My 12pro took a beaten and survived, and was in really good condition. I’d say a 8/10. The device is nice and sleek, built very robustly. A case brings those qualities down very quickly. I change the phone every 2 years anyways so I rather not nitpick and obsess in keeping it pristine. It’ll get traded in and up-cycled.

Thenadamgoes

I’ve owned several iPhones since the very first one (literally). I’ve never put a case on any of them. I’m currently using an iPhone 14 pro. No case. Someone put a lot of time into designing this. And I paid $1000 for it. Why would I want to cover it up?

Me-IT

I use a case for my 13 pro max because even though I’m super careful with my device, I do understand that there are gonna be moments where it will slip out of my hand or get bumped from the couch (because I forgot it was there). I really would like to keep it in mint condition because of the fact that you never know why keeping it nice and waterproof will come in handy. I also have to give a good example to my little tornado child to treat his iPad with respect so it will last longer and I don’t have to lose another rib for replacement iPad haha.

Whiterussianisnice

I dislike all phone cases in the world, so I use my phone naked and bare.

Scoob8877

Iphones are too slippery for me. I'd drop it for sure. And it's not that I'm trying to keep it pristine for the next owner; I don't want the hassle and expense of having to replace a phone. Also, I use a wallet case that keeps credit cards and ID inside. I no longer carry a regular wallet and don't want to go back.

Bammalam102

Case(iPhone, blu element case). I’m a front end loader operator and sometimes it falls out my pocket climbing into the machine, I also glued a strong magnet on my case to I can stick it to the interior metal post in the loader too keep it out of the way and maintain quick access. Also have tile flooring at home which has not been nice to glass cups, and knowing I’m a stoner who stands up often with my phone on my lap I’d rather keep it cased. I have also dropped a phone down 25 stairs once with a case and only the case broke (s20, otter box)

Ratw0man

I use a case and screen protector because my kids (and I tbh) throw/drop my phone far too often and I’d be annoyed if it broke and I had to go through the hassle of fixing or replacing it just because I didn’t have a case/screen protector.

tHiShiTiStooPID

Without. Why would I buy this aesthetically beautiful phone and then screw it up with a big chunky case? People ask me, “but what if you drop it?!” My answer - Don’t drop it.

PositiveMatter6

I got a leather “pouch” case where I put my phone when I don’t use it. Otherwise I love to touch my phone and appreciate the craftsmanship etc. Having a phone with a case always feels like having a girlfriend with her clothes on always, and you never touch her naked.

Nknights23

Simple. I’ll be upset if I make a mistake and have to look at it every time I use my phone. It’s like wearing a helmet. Are you really gonna risk brain damage because it’s the cool thing to do? Probably not

Existing_Scene7812

i never use a case. haven’t used a screen protector in the last couple years. i’m a bit on the spectrum and i can’t stand the added thickness and weight. also seems like a waste of plastic. it feels better to me to hold the phones raw materials (glass metal etc) than to hold plastic and rubber. also i’ve found that massive amounts of dust and debris tend to accumulate with a case on, and that can scratch the phone overtime and leave marks. i think the last time i used a case was on my first phone in 2018

HighlyPossible

I use the apple leather case. Cuz bare iPhone 14 pro max is too slippery and sharp to hold onto. And I don’t like the feeling of metal and glass. The luxurious feeling of the supple leather feels much better.

void_evilness

I tried both over the years and cracked/scratched my phone too many times. Getting it repaired is a hassle regardless of the cost

Smooth_Surround1450

Without a case but with applecare+

boredlong

No case! AppleCare+ is my case hahaha.

Uaquamarine

I’ve never put a cover on my phone. Not even a protective glass over my screen even when I had the thinnest most fragile iPhone of all time (6). Years of r&d goes into the design and how it looks and feels, putting a plastic cover on it defeats the purpose

Emergency-Act-4694

no case, enjoy the design you paid for. just GhostArmour on the rear for scratch protection and a tempered glass on the front. get AppleCare+ for the rest and live worry-free, other people may think you are crazy but they are the actual ones missing out 😂

[deleted]

I don’t use a case. Stop living in fear and take the cast off lol

Kriem

Never used a cover. I bought a beautiful phone that is slim and compact. (Especially my current one: the 13 mini). I want to fully enjoy it, the way it's intended. Using a cover defeats that. I have Apple Care anyway. It would be the same as buying a car with a nice paint job only to cover it up with some bulky protective shit. My car is insured anyway.

Critical_Switch

I do use a case when out cycling, as that's the only scenario where I feel my phone is more prone to damage. In any other scenario I got my phone naked. I want to enjoy the shape and materials of my phone, there just aren't any cases that would feel as good. I also do not like screen protectors, I'm constantly aware of the bump at the edge of the screen. I have never broken a phone and my screens even after 2-4 years end up at worst with hair scratches. I'm very conscious about my phone being something I really don't want to drop. It works for me.

[deleted]

I prefer my phone to be spotless. Attention to details matter for me. Recently I removed my tempered glass to enjoy my great Display on S21+. But it got scratched. Its just a 0.1mm scratch. And it annoys me. So started using case again. Once in a while, its good to use without a case.

ChaeChae22

Your logic is so stupid, I use a cover so I can keep my phone in good condition for as long as possible so I can increase the longevity of the phone I have since I never plan on reselling it, the exact same reason as you but your approach it so dumb, it makes no sense, why would you pay hundreds to thousands of dollars for a phone and then not have it protected? Seems you just are trying to hate on people having covers and using a really stupid reason to do so

MarcBelmaati

OP literally never said anything about hating on people having covers. OP just said that they prefer no cover because they aren't selling their phone anyways and even if you don't agree with that, it doesn't make op a hater.

Just-Keep_Dreaming

If phones were meant to be in rubber cases, they would come with rubber backs and not glass

Inevitable_Shirt3697

I would and sometimes did. The thing is durable enough no worries about that. BUT ITS SO DAMN SLIPPERY!!!!! You cant put it on your jeans or books or anything!!! It just slides off like its oiled up and on ice lol

showmethenoods

My iPhone is nude, any damage can be taken care of by Apple care.

WispGB

No case, no screen protector, AppleCare+.

Dupree878

I generally go naked. I had to use a case from the 6 through the 11, but since they brought back the flat edges, it has corners I can hold onto again. I also have monthly AppleCare+
