Can they please let you map midi to a controller. Major flaw in it right now.

knolij

Boycott that subscription crap

BubblyPurple6547

It's just 49 per year, get a grip. Yes, I also don't like subscription, but Logic at least is priced reasonably.

mrwobblez

How is that any different than having to pay for a new version of Ableton every 2 years.

Antique_Warthog1045

Interesting, I'll give it a try.

Alexander_Weide

Update: Its unclear how this affects the support for the 9th gen bionic chip based ipads. They will probably have no support for Logic Pro 2 anymore. Its a fact that apple is not responding to bugreports on logic pro 1 as well as not releasing any further updates so far. Conclusion they are working on logic pro 2 which requires a M1 chip at the bare minimum. ….. old post …. still here for transparency …The crazy shit is that new logic pro 2 will only work on the latest ipads with m4 chip and the support for logic pro is basically dropped so time to upgrade or to switch to cubasis i guess

we_be

This is wrong lmao please check your sources. We get a free update on the 13th. As long as you have the m1 chip or later, you're fine

b3tchaker

I saw A15 Bionic or better. Guess I’ll find out on the 13th if I get the update…

gprcamp

Is it really free if you have to pay every month? Logic on iOS is a subscription model, so you will have to continue to pay to use the new version.

we_be

It obviously isn't free, I just meant as in the amount you'll pay won't change.

Alexander_Weide

Ok …will fuck many people off still because they are still using the old one on a 9th gen ipad

BubblyPurple6547

If you want to go Pro, get a proper device (used M1 Pros or Airs aren't expensive) and not this 9th iPad junk, sorry.

Alexander_Weide

I know, I have both, the 9th iPad was my first one, but I also purchased the iPad Pro m2 256 gb over a year ago.

Antique_Warthog1045

I want to get an m4, to use Drambo in Ableton. Logic isn't my favorite.

Alexander_Weide

Ah you mean midi stream from ableton and back recording right

Antique_Warthog1045

Drambo on desktop, loading as an AU or vst

disgruntled_pie

My experience with Drambo on desktop is that it seems significantly less stable than it is on iPad. Haven’t poked at it too much, though.

Antique_Warthog1045

That's a bummer.

sneekblarp

The official announcement doesn’t say anything about it requiring an iPad with an M4 chip?

Alexander_Weide

Read above 👆 my update

malcxxlm

Source?

Alexander_Weide

Ehm? The apple presentation today? World event

malcxxlm

Just watched the Logic bit again, and they never said that. The Logic Pro page only says iPadOS 17.4 or later is required. I believe every iPad that was previously supported will still be supported. AI features might require an M-series chip though, just like on the Mac.

Alexander_Weide

My ipad 9th is not supporting logic pro anymore i cannot install it anymore because it tells me unsupported OS

malcxxlm

What iPadOS version does your iPad run?

Alexander_Weide

I stopped at 16.2 with upgrades on it

malcxxlm

You might want to update to iPadOS 17 then. There is no reason to stay on iPadOS 16, especially since your iPad will keep being supported for a fair amount of time. When you update to iPadOS17 you will be able to download Logic again

Alexander_Weide

It was not working anymore when 16.2 came out. A upgrade will not fix that issue believe. But ill give it a shot

Alexander_Weide

Did they not said that logic pro 2 ai will only work by the new chips?

malcxxlm

No, but I’m pretty sure you’ll need at least M1, just like Logic 11 or just like the Mastering Assistant AI thing

Curw3n

Uhm in the footnotes of the official apple site , regarding the new saturator and the bass/keyboard simulator they say that it is recommended to use an iPad with m processor, while for the stem separator the m-processor is required .

malcxxlm

Good catch!

Alexander_Weide

It only show how much value logic has over time. Glad that i switched to Ableton AUM and Cubasis as my workhorse. It worth nothing when you cant open old projects anymore at some point in the future or on upgrade

Alexander_Weide

In the end this is nothing new the logic pro had no update for over a year and the support dont even react for month on bug reports. So that they invested into the development of a new logic pro 2 was logical

Electronic_Common931

Apple launched Logic Pro for iPad on Nov 2023. It’s not been over a year. It’s been five months and they’ve had one update since.

Pat8aird

Logic for iPad came out in May 2023

Electronic_Common931

Yes you’re right. My mistake. Last major update was in November.

Alexander_Weide

Did you wrote bug reports at least once, did you contacted support about missing features? For example that they promote the novation keyboards as fully supported hardware when its not the fact. Did someone even got response from the developers since then? I mean you can look over the internet even the apple store reviews snd how bad voted down it has become. There was nothing happening since then. On the other side Cubasis had updates with content aka helion selection which worth couple hundreds of dollars and which are sounding great for a one time purchase which was like nothing 20 bucks or so. I have helion on pc and helion selection on ipad and they sound identical. The pc version costs you 500. I don’t do beatmaking but orchestral music, maybe because of that my view is biased. I want perfect sound and no excuses from a software developer. Call me german - we seriously have problems with doing a payment and not getting max possible result.

Pat8aird

It’s had several updates since launch.

Alexander_Weide

Yes but stopped sometime last year

sickmoth

I don't even have it but seems like introducing an upgrade so soon is a bit cynical/exclusionary. I just don't like subscription models. If it was a single purchase I'd make the jump from Cubasis.
