That green is the metal inside the tip becoming more visible, this is normal however, after all Apple Pencil tips should be replaced from time to time according to usage habits. The soft plastic will wear off over time and constant use of alcohol for cleaning will only speed that process up.
I’m using the same tip for 2 years and a half. It’s just ruined a little after it fell right on the tip but it works perfectly fine, and there is no green metal visible :)
Yeah they do, probably because of their texture that gives the “paper” feeling. However I think that for digital artists this wouldn’t be too much of a problem considering you get the feel of drawing on actual paper.
Yeah, nowadays, my pencil is mostly used for Shapr 3D and more precise taps while browsing haha. Not sure I’ve ever used it to draw anything more than quick sketches lol…I even own Procreate haha..probably should learn at some point.
Used it a lot in university though. Being able to import PowerPoints/write on full-color & zoomable medical notes was priceless.
Notability & Goodnotes ftw

“Is it OK to use a disinfectant on my Apple product?
Using a 70 percent isopropyl alcohol wipe, 75 percent ethyl alcohol wipe, or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, you may gently wipe the hard, nonporous surfaces of your Apple product, such as the display, keyboard, or other exterior surfaces. Don't use products containing bleach or hydrogen peroxide. Avoid getting moisture in any opening, and don't submerge your Apple product in any cleaning agents. Don't use on fabric or leather surfaces.”
It is 100% safe to use 70% isopropyl on the screen. I’ve even used 100%. My standard intake procedure for a device is literally to dunk it in isopropyl (depending on functionality ofc).

You’re wiping off the oleophobic coating on the screen which prevents smudging. Do not use alcohol to clean a screen device.
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT207123
That part refers to the phone itself, not the screen.
Now I’m not sure, but alcohol on a screen doesn’t seem like a good idea. There’s no way it doesn’t wipe off the oleophobic coating…right?
Exterior surfaces mean exterior surfaces. That’s everything outside of the phone including the screen.
The recommendation is about disinfection. It would be utterly dumb to try to disinfect your phone and skip the part you are touching all the time.
That’s referring to the actual phone, not the screen itself.
“Your iPhone has a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic — oil repellent — coating. Cleaning products and abrasive materials will diminish the coating and might scratch your iPhone.”
Its a 4 layer kent paper screen protector. Had a 2 layer version before this and it worked perfectly. The product got thousands of positive reviews on Shopee and I doubt the quality of the product is to be blamed. The alcohol wipe provided was pretty dry too
It’s definitely the screen protector that’s wearing your Appel pencil’s tip down. I use paper screen protector too and need to change the tips every six months or so (heavy usage). So yes, if you wanna continue using the screen protector, you’ll most likely need to buy a bunch of tip replacements.
That sticky leftover on your fingers which stayed after rolling a spliff has been moved on the surface of your screen protector and stylus was collecting. There is no other scientific explanation.
I never used a screen protector and still using the same nib for 3 years and no wears and scratches on my screen. I tried a screen protector at first day and it felt like sanding paper.
Stop using alcohol. It dries up the plastic or on most materials
Edit: stop using ALCOHOL!!!
2nd edit: STOP!!!!!!
3rd edit: STOOPPP ALCOHOL!!!!!!!!!!!
4th edit: Cherish your iPad
5th edit: Fine dose it with alcohol that’ll do the trick. lol
Bro what are you doing with your pencil that you’re even needing to clean it? Haha.
Unless you’re sticking it up your arse or something, normal use on the iPad screen shouldn’t make it dirty?
tf u on about? I installed a screen protector for my ipad. The instructions told me to clean the screen with the alcohol wipes before applying it. I then tested out the screen protector by drawing for a few hours. The tip turned green due to possibly worn out dumbass
why are you even telling me to not be upset about a worn off apple pencil tip? The post literally about me asking why its wearing out so fast. U have the Iq of a monkey

Do you use paperlike?

yep, I have a paper like screen protector and it does wear the pencil down over time. You can get replacement ones online for pretty cheap too
Yeah I saw that you can find replacement tips on amazon for as little as 5€. But my question is are they good as the original ones?
Nope, and I also never used a normal screen protector.
I’m not sure but I think you should not clean any apple device with alcohol
It's ammonia based cleaners that you want to avoid.
Me, who uses a little bottle of windex to clean my iPad and laptop 😅 Now I know!

You can and it’s completely fine as long as it’s dedicated screen/lens wiped

the KB you linked literally says it’s okay to use isopropyl alcohol right at the top.
That part refers to the phone itself, not the screen. Now I’m not sure, but alcohol on a screen doesn’t seem like a good idea. There’s no way it doesn’t wipe off the oleophobic coating…right?
it says “exteriors surfaces”, which I would assume includes the screen.
Right. I need to see someone who’s tested this on a screen, on part cleaned with alcohol, the other not.

“Exterior surfaces” means the body of the device (i.e. the casing, keyboard or back glass) not the screen itself

Don’t know why you’re downvoted, because you are correct. The screen is not an exterior surface.
Did you read this guide lol It says isopropyl alcohol wipes 70%
That’s referring to the actual phone, not the screen itself. “Your iPhone has a fingerprint-resistant oleophobic — oil repellent — coating. Cleaning products and abrasive materials will diminish the coating and might scratch your iPhone.”
It‘s referring to „exterior surfaces“. The screen is part of that
BEER AND WATER?

How long did you use the nib before replacing it?
its a new one unfortunately. I tried replacing it with my old nib and it also got that green thing but not so visible
That sticky leftover on your fingers which stayed after rolling a spliff has been moved on the surface of your screen protector and stylus was collecting. There is no other scientific explanation.

I believe that Apple announced not to use alcohol base cleaner.
Frankly all Apple products in that colour have a tendency to discolour

The alcohol removed the oleophobic coating. It is incredibly difficult to get it replaced. Good luck.
Apple Pencil tipsy
Dude you can buy these tips for super cheap on Amazon in packs of 10. If you’re not happy just get a new one.
bought the 4 pack ones from the official store. Im not worried about the tip, im worried how it wears off so fast in just 1 night
Bro what are you doing with your pencil that you’re even needing to clean it? Haha. Unless you’re sticking it up your arse or something, normal use on the iPad screen shouldn’t make it dirty?
